Q: Notification about unapprovable suggested edit

Double AAAround here you need 20000 rep to edit tag wikis without being peer reviewed, but only 5000 rep to review them. If you are in between (like me) then you can propose edits but not approve your own. I suggested a tag wiki edit tonight and the little red balloon showed up saying there was one new s...

@msh210 I'm confused: why did my tag wiki go to and not ? I'm almost positive I suggested it on the latter.

2:49 PM
@DoubleAA Yeah, and then I fiddled with it and messed everything up. Sorry. It's back, I think.
...although now it looks like I authored it, which both eno mevi g'ula laolam and probably infringes on your copyright. Could you waive the latter, please, so we can avoid legal issues, @DoubleAA?

Q: Why don't we have the "general reference" close option?

Monica CellioEL&U has among its reasons for a close vote "general reference". I wanted to vote to close this question for that reason, but it doesn't appear on our list. Should it, or did EL&U do something special to get it?

Q: Awarding bounties late

Seth JIf a bounty expires but the "best" answer hasn't been chosen, I know that half of the bounty is automatically awarded. Is it possible to then select one of the answers and award the other half? If not, what becomes of the unawarded points?

Q: One avot-patriarch-fathers tag, three, or four?

msh210We've been tagging all questions about the avos (the patriarchs, viz Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob of Genesis) with avot-patriarch-fathers. Occasionally (two or three times in my memory) people have used specific tags for the individual avos; I've merged these into the main tag. But we have 67 avot-p...

Looks like I won't be able to make it to today's chat. Have fun and I'll catch up later.

@MonicaCellio Unless we all forget again :)
@msh210 I think we should really both be asking @IsaacMoses that, as I basically plagiarized his characteristically excellent work here judaism.stackexchange.com/posts/13139/revisions

@DoubleAA Btw, re badge calculation, I just stumbled on this:

A: Self-mined Badge Progress via 2.0+ API

Kevin MontroseI'm declining this, not because I don't see the merit in it, but because we don't have the data to return in anything approaching a reasonable time. Our badge awarding code is very complex, and intentionally run in staggered (and even, in some cases, random) schedule to prevent DOS-ing our own d...

@HodofHod Makes sense.

5:30 PM
@DoubleAA I guess. I wouldn't have thought it would be so resource intensive. I suppose badges that are dependent on multiple posts would need to be queried; as opposed to single-post badges, where each post could keep a counter.

@HodofHod Parsha Time? Not such a big crowd. Hi @BenjaminHarris! Are you here for our Parashat Hashavua chat?
Well, I'm not going to start it now if there's no interest. If more people show up in the next hour then go ahead.

Ok people this is two weeks in a row with no Wednesday lunch/dinner (US/Israel) parsha chat. Is this time no longer good? Are people tired of chatting? Is sefer bamidbar just that boring?

Hey, nobody was here, I thought i had missed it!
But I didn't realize this was every Wednesday -- that's a great idea!
I'll definitely try to be here next week then
@DoubleAA Now we're at an interesting book again -- we're past Vayikra :)

@DoubleAA, I think I was actually the only one here last week. This week, I couldn't make it, but I should be around next time.

9:00 PM
@jake This week's parashah has many interesting topics. But perhaps it should be a different day at lunch time? Or, the event needs more publicity.

@AdamMosheh The day doesn't really make a difference to me personally for most weeks. Maybe we should take a poll.

@BenjaminHarris Hey, to each his own :)
@jake Let's see what the 'regulars' say here over the next day before trying anything fancier.

9:55 PM
@DoubleAA Some days I can't do it, others I can. It depends not only on day of the week, so I can't commit to any specific day of the week.
