I just saw a "related question" in the sidebar and thought "gee, that's an interesting sounding question!" I opened it and saw it was a question I asked a while ago.

I'd tell him verbally, but he doesn't listen to anything I say.

@yEz I once heard a story: Every morning, as he passed by Yankel's house, the rebbe (I have no idea who) would say "Good morning, Yankel," even though Yankel was inside and couldn't hear him. His students asked him "Rebbe, why are you saying good morning to Yankel if he can't hear you?" The rebbe responded, "What, I can't give him a bracha just because he can't hear it?"
