All: A (non-Jewish) foundation here in St. Louis is offering incentives to local charities that raise funds through their (the foundation's) Web site today, May 5th, U.S. Central Time. (That is, for the next 92 minutes.) There's one orthodox Jewish organization on the list of eligible charities, and you can donate to it here. It would appreciate your help.

(Shoulda posted that a day ago.)

(The other charities on the list that are considered Jewish, in case anyone prefers, are givestlday.org/#npo/shalom-house givestlday.org/#npo/jewish-community-center-the-j givestlday.org/#npo/st-louis-norc givestlday.org/#npo/… givestlday.org/#npo/congregation-temple-israel . Plus there are lots more non-Jewish charities. You can give to more than one, but the minimum per charity is $10.)

Q: What is the "practical" purpose of clsoing a question that has an accepted answer?

I frequently see a question closed after an answer has been accepted. I understand the "technical" pupose in that you want to prevent further answers until the question has been clarified. But, in terms of practicality, I know, in a few cases, with my own questions, I have already gotten a satisf...
