Q: Is criticism of Israel lashon hara?

Kinnard HockenhullWhen is criticism of the State of Israel lashon hara? I've learned that the prophets were staunch in their criticism of ancient Israel. There are Jews who could be categorized as self-hating whose criticism could even be categorized as antisemitic. What are the halachic provisions for this?

@msh210 seems unclear to me right now; if the question asks about the state then the stuff about ancient Israel doesn't seem relevant, but if it's asking more broadly it needs to say so. I suspect the question arises from a perception that the nation of Israel is somehow "like" the modern state.
