@IsaacMoses - This question contains a good example of the orthodox bias you see here. The question assumes that its audience is orthodox, and that they will all want orthodox-only kosher certification.
(Also, the CYLOR acronym that gets tossed around so casually is another such example.)

Q: children-parenting tag

msh210Several questions with the children-parenting tag have nothing to do with parenting: e.g., Name of adoptive father in the Ketubah, Why only ten? Why not all of Haman's children?, Why does "ateres roshi" mean "my parent"?. Should it be renamed children-parents? Or should...

@NeilFein On the contrary, that question specifically asks "I want to know what the OU's or any other Orthodox kashrut agency's problem is with Triangle K.". It specifies "Orthodox", assuming that the reader does not know, without that specification, that only Orthodox kashrus agencies are under discussion. (Yes, the asker is interested only in Orthodox kashrus agencies, but I assume that's not what you were referring to. Or is it?)
@NeilFein Likewise, if someone is assuming that the audience is o/Orthodox, he needn't write "contact your local o/Orthodox rabbi": "contact your local rabbi" would suffice. The use of "o/Orthodox" implies that he's not assuming the reader is o/Orthodox.
I will grant you, @NeilFein, that most users of the site are o/Orthodox. (Certainly not all.) I will grant you the o/Orthodox users' questions seek answers from an o/Orthodox perspective, but what else would you expect? Moreover, [continued]
[continued] I'll grant that when a question is asked without the perspective's being clear, they usually assume it's being asked from an o/Orthodox perspective; this, too, is pretty much to be expected considering the majority of questions on the site that are, in fact, asked from an o/Orthodox perspective. [continued]
[continued] The only problem I can think of would be if a question is asked specifically from an unorthodox/non-Orthodox perspective and the answers ignore that and answer from an o/Orthodox perspective. Can you think of any examples of this latter?

Q: Does the proposed Aliyah.SE fit better here?

Monica CellioI just saw the Aliyah.SE proposal and wondered why those questions wouldn't belong here. One possibility is that not all those who make aliyah are religious (or Jewish) and maybe some would think they don't belong here. On the other hand, we just had a challenge a couple weeks ago for questions...
