@Divizna I agree with you. Thank you to introduce theremin to me; very interesting and acoustically satisfying too. Sample: Over the Rainbow.
A classical sample: Clair de Lune.

@GratefulDisciple The only musical instrument you do not touch in any way. They are great fun, if a little hard to learn. Having string instrument background helps, for precision, but getting the notes accurate without a physical part to rest on is difficult

The one time I got to try, the resulting sound was not acoustically satisfying in the least, hahaha. There are instruments you touch the first time in your life and already somewhat manage a simple tune... theremin wasn't one of those.

@Divizna @ElementsInSpace I agree that brands / models / years of manufacture, etc. should be off topic. My understanding is that the original intent of the rule was to identify instruments by ear in a recording. But I also agree that identifying categories or varieties of instrument, based on images, are good for the site. They are not so different from asking what instrument is identified by an indication in a score, just substituting a photo for a score annotation.

When it comes to identifying instruments by ear, I'm not convinced that "off-topic" is the right word for what's wrong with these. It's more a case of "question doesn't provide enough information to spawn a meaningful answer".
And another issue AFAIK is that SE doesn't take sound files, so these have to rely on outside hosting, and one shouldn't do that with an essential part of the post.
