5:56 AM
I'm so sad right now. My visit streak ended at 90 days before it got to 100
That's so weird because I visit both tex.sx and mathematica.sx every day.
data.sx tells me my last visit is 2014-08-17 02:30:26 for both, yet my mathematica.sx streak is 91

@ChristianHupfer Re tex.stackexchange.com/questions/196963/… If it looks like a margin it is a margin – no matter how things are implemented

7:00 AM
@PauloCereda arrived. I'll watch the video tonight :)
@PauloCereda I took a peek, though: your voice sounds quite normal! :) I'm not sure if I don't find the music a bit distracting...

1 hour later…
8:11 AM
@cgnieder That's the idea: I don't want people to note my bad English. :P

@PauloCereda I wouldn't: my English probably is worse, anyway :)

@cgnieder Don't worry, mine gets worse during the video. :P

@PauloCereda Oh: spoilers! :)

@cgnieder :)
@hftf Don't give up, you'll reach the goal. :) Mine is visited 1248 days, 1214 consecutive, but I believe no one can top @JosephWright's score. :)

Am I having a bad day? vvvv

8:22 AM
Got this on Twitter today.

Q: Modifying the geometry of verso pages

enigmatorI am having the following code that I recovered from the question http://tex.stackexchange.com/a/96366/50507 (requirements announced there) : MWE : \documentclass[oneside]{article} \usepackage{caption} \def\a{One two three four \stepcounter{enumi}\roman{enumi} five six. } \def\b{\a\a\par\a\a\a...

@PauloCereda 1484 days, 1436 consecutive (mobile connection in the early days of the site meant I got logged out a couple of days when on holiday: I have looked in every day)

Apparently I am a first class developer and a developer with a big future. Where's the oh stop it meme? :)
@JosephWright Wow, I knew it! :)
@Johannes_B oopsie. :)

@PauloCereda @egreg Has a full house (no missed days)

@JosephWright ooh!

8:24 AM
damn hosting :(

@PauloCereda don't believe everything you read on the internet

@PauloCereda 1244 days, 1244 consecutive

@DavidCarlisle So I am not special? :(
@JosephWright wow!
@JosephWright egreg and I have a difference of 4 days. :)

@PauloCereda There are still about 4k questions he's not answered, though

@JosephWright yep, it's his and David's fault, basically. :)

8:26 AM
Seriously: I suspect many of the unanswered can be dealt with, one way or another. If people want more-or-less free rep that's the place to look.

And you know what, guys? I got 120 days of real life in the last 2 years and 7 months ;)

@JosephWright I wrote a quick question crawler; my plan is to try to spot some answer in comment thing.
@tohecz no way!
:)

@PauloCereda well, that's <days registered> - <days visited> :)

@PauloCereda Ah, good idea

@tohecz you naughty mathematician. <3

8:29 AM
@PauloCereda naughty mathematician with a blocked FTP access to his blog :(

@tohecz oh no!

I don't know what's up. I can get to another pages hosted by the same host, but not to these

8:46 AM
Time to go to SP! See ya, guys! :)

@PauloCereda bye!

9:11 AM
@tohecz: now live on the bus. :)

9:58 AM
On the second bus now. :)
I am playing Pokémon now.

@PauloCereda You could be working

@David I can't use my laptop now. :)

10:17 AM
Somebody talking about me? ;-)

woooo

1 hour later…
11:34 AM
I am bored.

2 hours ago, by David Carlisle
@PauloCereda You could be working

@David: LOL

2 hours later…
1:39 PM
@nicolatalbot Did you see tex.stackexchange.com/questions/197022/…? I don't think mfirstuc is quite the right tool here: is that correct?

2:05 PM
ಠ_ಠ :: String -> a
Stop and display an error message. Exactly as error does.
muhaha

2:29 PM
@JosephWright Yes, I've added an answer. It can work, but the order of expansion is important.

@NicolaTalbot Ah, right
@NicolaTalbot Should I remove my one?

Hi all! :-) Thoughts on this one:

Q: Making \marginpar work with tex4ht

M-VI tried using \marginpar using tex4ht and pdflatex. Here is the PDF output: Here is the HTML output: Is it possible to configure tex4ht to produce HTML output with good looking marginal notes?

OP has moved on but I think it might still be useful to some?

@PaulGessler What sort of thoughts are you after?

@JosephWright I think your answer is also useful, so I think you should leave it. The \makefirstuc thing works because it effectively does \MakeTextLowercase{\MakeUppercase{F}irst Letter Should Be Uppercase, All Others Lowercase.} and magically \MakeTextLowercase doesn't counteract \MakeUppercase.

@NicolaTalbot Case changing using \lowercase/\uppercase is fun, isn't it :-)
@NicolaTalbot There's a good reason we're working on a proper expandable approach for expl3!

2:34 PM
@JosephWright lol :-)

@JosephWright should it be left open? Is it even possible (it is maybe, with div tags but I've no experience with tex4ht)?

@JosephWright It would be very useful to have fully expandable case changing!

@PaulGessler I've felt it was 'unclear' every time I look at it, but perhaps that's me (what exactly is a marginpar in an HTML context)
@NicolaTalbot We've had it for a while for ASCII: the new code can do UTF-8 provided you are using XeTeX/LuaTeX. Some questions remain: I'm still not sure what the 'correct' way to handle brace groups is.

@JosephWright One day I'll have time to look at LaTeX3 (and LuaTeX). I plugged (La)TeX at a literary event last Sunday :-)

@NicolaTalbot Cool
@NicolaTalbot LaTeX3 \neq LuaTeX :-)

2:43 PM
@JosephWright :-) (I think my first real introduction to LuaTeX was at the UK-TUG meeting.)

@NicolaTalbot Cool
@NicolaTalbot We are getting something right, then

@JosephWright :-)
@JosephWright I just hope I can finally finish my LaTeX vol3 book before LaTeX2e is replaced by LaTeX3 ;-)

@NicolaTalbot I think that should be fine
@NicolaTalbot For low-level programming I'm looking forward to @egreg's book on expl3
@egreg How is the book going?

@JosephWright If it's ready before mine, it would be useful to cite it (when I briefly mention LaTeX3).

@NicolaTalbot I've not seen it, only hear rumours

3:04 PM
@NicolaTalbot It'll just tell you that you don't need % at end of lines, but in a very discursive, book length format.

@DavidCarlisle :-)

@DavidCarlisle hehehe together with \begingroup\edef\temp{\endgroup... maybe?

@percusse Traditionally \x :-)

@JosephWright My apologies, still too young to rock :P

3:32 PM
Are the parallel and perpendicular components of the projection of a vector v onto u below used notations that can be understood (internationally)?

@percusse not in expl3 :-)

@Joseph Are you around?

@tohecz Yes
@DavidCarlisle \use:x

@PaulGessler it is quite easy to solve with a bit of css

Can you understand what happened here? tex.stackexchange.com/posts/196724/revisions I rolled back to the 1st version because the 2nd one seems to be crap. But I'm not sure whether it was correct

3:36 PM
@tohecz Some kind of mess-up using the edit system: looks like you took the right action

@JosephWright ok, but now, if I'm correct, there're some delete votes on the answer. Or these get removed by the edit?

PNG images displayed incorrectly in this chat room.

@cyanide-basedfood that's odd, they work OK normally (if you follow the link on yours it looks a lot better:-)

@DavidCarlisle Yes. Visting the link works.
I has happened since several days ago.

@cyanide-basedfood It's because of your notation. It knows it's not a good idea

3:40 PM
@tohecz Yes, there are delete votes

@percusse :-)

@JosephWright you can't remove them, right?

It is a bug.

@cyanide-basedfood yes, the problem is that you use transparency I think. Try: convert img.png -flatten +matte img2.png

3:42 PM
@cyanide-basedfood saved it in a different format (losing transparancy) then back to png
@tohecz or assume someone will do it for you:-)

@tohecz Not without deleting and then undeleting

@JosephWright ah ok. Let's hope that people aren't blind :)

4:14 PM
@DavidCarlisle it did not happen . there might be a modification.

4:32 PM
@cyanide-basedfood ??

@DavidCarlisle I think this is a new behaviour, my previous experience in this chat room, there was no such a problem.

@cyanide-basedfood oh probably, they are always tinkering with something:-)

Just a test.
Alpha channel is not supported now. A sad news.

@egreg Re the \lowercase business: of course, it is a 'reverse functional' but it's not what people probably expect

4:55 PM
@JosephWright Indeed. Knuth should have chosen to place arguments before the macro name, so the functional character would be more evident. ;-)

@egreg Does of course raise in my mind the question of how the expl3 code should treat nesting
@egreg Any news on the expl3 book?

5:16 PM
This pstricks site cannot be accessed. tug.org/PSTricks/main.cgi

@cyanide-basedfood Did you send a mail?

@cyanide-basedfood Looks like on purpose, google pstricks site:www.tug.org and read the robots.txt

@JosephWright Not yet. My emails are usually ignored in the PSTricks mailing list. :-)
@percusse I let Herbert know it.

5:41 PM
@PaulGessler I posted my solution. Little bit longer than I thought:

A: Making \marginpar work with tex4ht

michal.h21This is really just a css issue. Stylesheets produced by tex4ht are pretty plain and basic, which is a good thing, because you can easily modify the appearance of things to your needs. By default, content generated by tex4ht is sized to fill whole page width. This is on the one hand wrong from ...

6:06 PM
@michal.h21 thanks for that, very nice!

Quack!

@PauloCereda A duck!

@JosephWright Hello! :)

6:28 PM
Hi! Am I the only one who can't connect to skype on linux today?

@tohecz Mine is connected. But I think I know what's happening: what's your Skype version?

@PauloCereda Skype 4.2.0.13 Copyright (c) 2004-2013, Skype

@tohecz As I suspected. Do this:

well, I can try an update

Then sudo yum localinstall <the RPM file>

6:33 PM
why isn't it in the repos?!
@PauloCereda you're my hero! :)
now how do you hide the ridiculous top panel?

@tohecz I have no idea. :)
@tohecz <3
@tohecz I think you can't. :(

6:53 PM
@PauloCereda that's stupid. They make the displays less and less high and introduce such stuff :(

@tohecz :(

3 hours later…
9:36 PM
Now back home.

@PauloCereda Cool

@PauloCereda Welcome home! :)

@Joseph: might take a while. :)
@tohecz: I am actually on my way. :)

@PauloCereda ah ok. But you're already here, at home :)

@tohecz: awww <3
/group hug
By the way, I had Einsbein today. :)
Actually, Eisbein.

9:46 PM
@PauloCereda cool

10:03 PM
Hi
is there an option for the font size between VeryHuge and Huge ?

1 hour later…
11:16 PM
@cgnieder: like the ragtime theme? :P

oh hi @Paulo!

@tohecz: hi Tom!

@PauloCereda not in quite a good mood :(

11:32 PM
@tohecz: what happened, pal?

@PauloCereda I more and more realize that I shall demit from the position of the scout master.

@tohecz: oh. :(

but the reasons and all the things are so unfortunate :(

Ouch.

and I'm afraid that it'll mean that the group will die

11:48 PM
anyways, I'll try to sleep out of it :-/ Good night, @Paulo
