Q: Spacing & sizing with libertine and newtxmath

jtbandesI'm using the following setup for the Libertine font: \documentclass{article} \usepackage[T1]{fontenc} \usepackage[lining]{libertine} \usepackage[libertine, cmintegrals]{newtxmath} \begin{document} Test: $75 + 250\log_2 n = 75 + \frac{250}{\log_{10} 2} \log_{10} n$ \end{document} But the sp...

Is this one a feature request for Kile?

Q: Show knitr-RNW document structure in Kile

Roey AngelWhen working with a knitr file (RNW document) on Kile the document structure isn't shown in the structure view, even though it contains a valid LaTeX structure of parts, sections etc. If I change the file suffix into .tex then the structure is shown, but it's a bad idea because I need to compile ...

Q: Highlight R chunks in a Knitr document when working in Kile

Roey AngelWhen working on a knitr document in kile I can get highlights for the LaTeX parts of the document by adding the *.Rnw file extension in the Modes & Filetypes tab under Open/save configuration options. The question is, is there a way to get highlighting of the R parts of the document a la R-Studio?

@JosephWright I'd say so.
@JosephWright There has been some similar questions about LaTeX/Lua, which has been answered (if I remember correctly). They didn't involve Kile though.

@JosephWright You suspect right.

Hi, can etoolbox's \patchcmd be used for arbitrary words in a document as well?
I saw an example using \abstract, but that won't work for the body text.

@1010011010 In most cases
Is this on-topic, or actually a question about make:

Q: Parallel make with standalone package

carstenThis question is a LaTeX question, although it might actually be resolved by changing the build procedure of the document instead of the document itself. I have a document that includes a bunch of subfiles, where each has preamble of its own. I use the standalone package to accomplish this. Now...

Oh no, Demi Lovato beated me to nightingale.

I'm having one of my semi-regular runs through the unanswered list: there will be a few old questions popping up with answers or comments :-)

Hi, I'm looking to reproduce a non-bold version of the \ding{230} symbol. I can't find anything closer resembling this icon:

Hi guys
1 help with regard to TeX

2:35 PM
@subhamsoni: Which topic?

@egreg: Hello! :) How's the weather today?

@PauloCereda Cloudy; the thunderstorm was in the early morning. Tomorrow it should be good enough for a short tour.

@egreg Ah. :) Today we have a sunny day. :)

Hi everyone
Sometimes my life is really stressful
For a relaxation
I do some TeXing
Try to solve some answers
and find something new
and hence post questions ;)
Now
I am on my way
to create packages
How do I start with?
I have some ideas in my mind
I want to put them to action

cis
Yes, create a package which allows the simple create of tooltips (and/or) thumbnails...

I would like to create a package for MikTeX I mean

@subhamsoni See also the highest rated questions in the tag.

@cis couldn't follow you

cis
3:03 PM
@subhamsoni Forget it, a joke...
Did anybody ever use thumbpdf?

@TorbjørnT. how are you able to get this button on package-writing

@subhamsoni Write [tag:package-writing]. In general, [tag:<name of tag>]

@cis Several years ago; PDF viewers do their own thumbnails, nowadays.

with the brackets? @TorbjørnT.

cis
@egreg I know, but I thought, I could create my own individual thumbnails - for exanple thumbs, that are not the real page-picture....

3:06 PM
@subhamsoni Yes ...

@subhamsoni: Why restricting to MikTeX? This is offensive for any non MikTeX user ;-)

cis
But thumbpdf does not work at my sytem :(

3:21 PM
ok How to create apackage in general

@subhamsoni: I hope, you mean a real package and not a pile up of commands basically not connected to each other ;-)

I really mean a real one

why does this not work? Should I have png files now?

@PauloCereda nowhere near 1.5k songs but... : facebook.com/einzelmeinung/photos/…

If a glyph doesn't show up in the comprehensive LaTeX symbol list, what's the best next step to take to mimic the same thing in LaTeX ?

@1010011010: The Swiss knife of Graphics...tikz? ;-)

@ChristianHupfer Ha. texdoc tikz, some coffee and spend the night working on those glyphs it is, then.

@1010011010: Of course, it is that easy.... well, I never used tikz so far :-P
@1010011010: Let's say gallons of coffee and some nights ...

@ChristianHupfer Any particular reason to avoid the metric system ? :-)

6:16 PM
@1010011010: I don't want to confuse our non-metric-system users here :-P

@ChristianHupfer They confuse us!!!!!!

Sorry, I will return later...

@ChristianHupfer Ever saw Pulp Fiction in english?

6:58 PM
@PauloCereda What?
@PauloCereda Oh!

7:15 PM
@cgnieder Wow! That's awesome!
@cgnieder She has a song named nightingale. :)

@PauloCereda :) I'm quite pleased with the result myself
@PauloCereda Meanwhile a search engine told me :)

@cgnieder Sorry for being so curious: how did you get the booklet printed?
@cgnieder A nice song. :)

@PauloCereda With a print-on-demand service where I simply needed to upload the PDF files

@cgnieder Wow! I wish we had something similar in here. :(

@PauloCereda I just wanted to answer that the service I used ships world wide. But then I checked: apparently they don't... :(

7:25 PM
@cgnieder :(

@1010011010: Yes, for sure, on DVD ;-)

@ChristianHupfer Coming from the vanilla version of Pulp Fiction (the way it was originally released with english as spoken language), hearing it back in german is just... missing something, somehow. I don't mean to be condescending of your commons but that's really the first thing that comes to mind.
And funny to hear it back, the dutch really do eat their chips with mayonnaise. And apparently everybody thinks that's weird. :/

@1010011010: Oh, sorry, did I post the German version. I just took the top on youtube

@ChristianHupfer My german is fine, so it'll work for me. :-)

@1010011010: Your German is definitely better than my Dutch... well, I have no knowledge of Dutch ;-)

7:33 PM
@ChristianHupfer That is not to be expected. Dutch is a farmer's language anyway. And a language of hippies.
He he he

@1010011010 ;-) The generation of my parents, especially of my already late mother :-(
@1010011010: How do you proceed with the glyph?

I've run into a problem (possible bug) with the drop shadow key in tikz: tex.stackexchange.com/questions/194592/…

@1010011010: I just saw your post on TeX.SX

@ChristianHupfer ...and of course you know just the solution?

Does anybody know how a \CheckBox can be printed in a hyperref form? Even with Document and Markup option Acrobat Reader does not print the box at all, regardless whether checked or unchecked
I also tried the `format={ var f=getField("foo"); f.display=display.visible;)}' code as described in the Acrobat JavaScript API reference manual. To no avail
Forget my question... I found the error ... forgot the Form environment wrapping around the code...

8:16 PM
hello
I need a quick intervention:
I am currently doing appendices
2
Q: Appendix - Adding PDF

JensThanks for your awesome support so far. This page helps me a lot getting into Latex! In my appendix, I want to add several PDF-Documents (questionnaires) which I used in study. I managed to implement an appendix and the PDF files (not hard to do ;) - but now I have 2 issues I cannot solve: a) I...

in the appendix, it appears like A Appendix (as intended)
then, I set up \label{secpdf:Blabla} in appendix
if I do a reference in text, it does show like 8.7
and not like A
how can I manage it to get a correct reference in the special case?

@Jens: I think, the source of this issue is that \label depends on a '\refstepcounter command, but this does not some to have done for your included pdf, so it uses the latest \refstepcounter before. You should post a true question in TeX.SX

Ok thanks, so it's not an easy one
hehe
I am setting up my question then
:D

@Jens: I believe, we had a similar question one or two months ago , just looking for it...
@Jens: Perhaps not completely the same content, but it might help: tex.stackexchange.com/questions/182560/…

8:32 PM
thanks, I already posted a question including your link, because I am still to noobish to manage a transfer :)

@Jens: I saw it... There is a \section* command in your \secpdf command -- it does not use \refstepcounter and therefore the \label uses the last \refstepped counter.

can I kick it?
without consequences?
(removing the *)

@Jens: It depends what you want... Shall the section be in the Toc: Yes, then use \section... shall it be not in TOC use \section[]{sectiontitle}.

ok thanks!

@Jens: Small typo in my last post here ...
@Jens: Please drop that reference to my name from your post, it's of no use there ;-)

8:45 PM
ok, did it :)

@Jens: Ok... did you change to \section and checked?

jep referencing works with Appendix, but the lettering is missing
@ChristianHupfer so if I have J appendices, it's a bit generic :D

@Jens: J appendices? What does stand J for? J = Jens? ;-)

@ChristianHupfer, haha, no, it enumerates with letterings from A-J

@Jens: That's perhaps not the source of the missing ref. value. I just look into document

8:59 PM
@ChristianHupfer thanks!!

When my cat likes toes cheese and it doesn't care much for the toes, just goes for the cheese, does that confirm that cats are partially vegetarian?

@Jens: I have some suspicion... I fear, that there is no \refstepcounter command noticed outside \secpdf due to that \IfBooleanTF etc. stuff

so I should do it manually?

@Jens: You are German, right? In this case it's easier to write it in German, but I must admit, I am no expert in xparse etc. at all
@1010011010: Some kind of a dutch Tongue-twister, translated to English?

@ChristianHupfer Apparently that was the translation. I just looked it up.

9:09 PM

hm ups :)
und wie lös ich das problem

@Jens: Ich versuche es gerade ;-)
@PauloCereda: Guten Abend... Willkommen im Deutsch - TeX.SE.Chat :-P

9:18 PM
@ChristianHupfer danke!! :)

@ChristianHupfer Hallo! Wie geht's? :)

@PauloCereda: I am fine... and what about you? ;-)

@ChristianHupfer Bene, grazie. :)

@PauloCereda: What is 'I am glad to hear that' in Portuguese?

9:24 PM
@ChristianHupfer One form could be "Fico feliz em ouvir isso." :)

strange

9:42 PM
@Jens: Schau mal nach ;-)
@PauloCereda: Thanks, and sorry, I was distracted ;-)

@ChristianHupfer Nah, don't worry. :)

9:58 PM
I just learned that \refstepcounter fails as driver for \label, when it is inside a group ;-)
@PauloCereda: Do you have some knowledge of hyperref forms and JavaScript for Adobe?

@ChristianHupfer HAMMER LÖSUNG DANKE :))))
bin stolz auf dich :)

10:13 PM
@Jens: Nicht so schnell, immer erst testen ;-)

@ChristianHupfer ne, hab ich schon^^ :)

@Jens: Ok, dann mal viel Durchhaltevermögen, frei nach Macbeth: "The greatest is behind" ... (Stand in meiner Diplomarbeit ;-))

@ChristianHupfer in welchem Bereich bist du tätig?

10:33 PM

wo denn?

@Jens: Hier ;-)

:D

10:44 PM
@Jens: Nicht in Baden-Württemberg
@Jens: Willst Du Lehrer werden? ;-)

@ChristianHupfer neee, allenfalls hochschullehrer

@Jens: Natürlich... ;-)

@ChristianHupfer Good night.

@AlanMunn: Thank you... have a nice day (or evening ;-) )

@ChristianHupfer Early evening for me still.

10:57 PM
@AlanMunn: USA?

@ChristianHupfer gute nacht

@Jens;: Danke...

@ChristianHupfer Yes, I'm in Michigan.

@AlanMunn: Ok, that's Eastern TZ, right? About 19 o'clock?

@ChristianHupfer Yes, exactly. We're on the very western edge of the eastern time zone.

11:01 PM
@AlanMunn: Ok, I was not quite sure... I tried to remember lessons in Geography ;-) Well, have a nice evening then.

@ChristianHupfer Thanks.

11:27 PM
@1010011010 Try this
\documentclass{article}
\usepackage{pifont}
\usepackage{xcolor}
\begin{document}
\textcolor{gray!30}{\ding{230}} \ding{230}
\end{document}
