12:19 AM
@HenriMenke ooh spooky. :)

7 hours later…
7:34 AM
Good mean
back from CERN

@ChristianHupfer How was it?
Morning
@yo' You are an editor too, right? latex-community.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=27542

@Johannes_B Hm, we've not seen much of it. No detector chambers, a short glance into control room, a bending magnet testing hall (impressive!) and an one-hour-talk in a small lesson room. 6 hours in bus towards the CERN and again 6 hours back ....

@ChristianHupfer How long have you been there? three hours?

@Johannes_B 4 hours -- there's a small exhibition too, so we used some waiting time until the real guided tour started

@ChristianHupfer Better watch the sixty symbols videos. They might be more informative youtube.com/watch?v=5r6vyZ2bykg

7:49 AM
@Johannes_B Perhaps. But at least my pupils, my colleagues and me have been there once. The Physics content was too limited, in my point of view. Unfortunately, they do not reveal the topics of the guided tour such that you can decide whether to go or not. As far as I know there's no wish-list for visitors to submit to the visitors office ...

@ChristianHupfer I wanna go there as well.

1 hour later…
9:05 AM
I just deleted a spam post on LC. It was in vietnamese. Advertisement for a rice cooker.

@Johannes_B Why? I wanted to buy a rice cooker, now all opportunities are gone :-(

@ChristianHupfer Industrial scale, can cook up to 100kg, or only just 2kg. Do you often need that much rice?

@Johannes_B 100kg is too less. I do need more rice! ;-)

@ChristianHupfer Willst du nen Reismenschen bauen?

@Johannes_B Werd jetzt nicht albern... Ich erzähle Dir hier meine Bedürfnisse ;-)

9:13 AM
Even google reacts to munich.

@Johannes_B Yes, at least the German site.

@ChristianHupfer Quite a ... upset reaction.

9:28 AM
@Johannes_B Why?

@ChristianHupfer I think, if the gunman would have been more german looking there wouldn't have been that reaction.

@Johannes_B I am not sure about that

@ChristianHupfer Whole city closed, controlled borders. Personally, i don't think this was planned as an act of terror.

9:58 AM
@ChristianHupfer There is a wikipedia entry, available in 29 langauges

10:30 AM
Another followup by Jonathan.

I am planning a TeX-themed Mario Maker level. :)

@ChristianHupfer 9 mm Pistole der Marke Clock Ich liebe Journalismus
@PauloCereda How will it look like?

@Johannes_B Señor Penguino. :)

@PauloCereda Señor Pato

@Johannes_B I have no idea. :) Probably a little square for Mario to jump and a huge pitfall full of spikey things, and a text above: welcome to the LuaTeX world. :)

10:38 AM
Is that correct?

@Johannes_B ooh it is! :)

@PauloCereda David and Joseph will love that :-)

@Johannes_B I will try something later on. :)
But it seems I am the only one here who plays the Wii U.
And @Joseph is a PS3 bloke.

@PauloCereda Did I hear Wii U? ;-)

@ChristianHupfer Yes. :) I have a X360 and a XONE as well. :)

10:54 AM
@PauloCereda Know what i have?

@Johannes_B Master System, Mega Drive, SNES? :)

@PauloCereda What is X360 and XONE? ;-)

@PauloCereda None of these or the above. But i have an account on the arabic wikipedia :-)

@ChristianHupfer Microsoft merchandising. :)
@Johannes_B oooooooh

Eating Swiss Chocolate ...

10:56 AM
@Johannes_B What are you doing there? :)
@ChristianHupfer o.O
/quacks in despair
/me wants chocolate
Quaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack
Wait a minute, a German eating Swiss chocolate...
THAT'S A TRAP

@PauloCereda Vaporware/Malware

@ChristianHupfer To be honest with you, at the risk of sounding brainwashed, I think the Microsoft gaming platform is the most stable available out there. And it works marvelously in Brazil, surprisingly. :)
Emphasis on gaming. :)

@PauloCereda I can't compare actually. I only use PC or WiiU
@PauloCereda Yes, Minesweeper is pretty stable :-P

When my XONE got a problem, they fixed for me at no cost and I even got an apology letter with a freebie. :)
@ChristianHupfer yay a Wii U player! <3
@Johannes: get one Wii U too, so we can make Mario Maker levels and teach people how to use TeX through videogames. :)
Although I don't believe the demographics on TeX people playing the Wii U. :)
@HeikoOberdiek: Hi Heiko, do you play the Wii U? :)

11:16 AM
@PauloCereda I visited one of the pages and apparently you are auto-registered and get a nice Hi and welocme notice. Happened with the spanish and french Wikipedia as well.
@PauloCereda Sorry, but i won't get a Wii.

11:35 AM
@Johannes_B ooh :)
@Johannes_B Oh :(

12:22 PM
@NicolaTalbot: Hi! :)

yo'
12:51 PM
Yo! Long time no see! How do you all do?

@yo' Hi Tom! <3

Depends on what one wants to achieve. Does one want to have open access to the edge meaning that also the tex source of all scientific publications have to be open? Does one want to enforce that by providing a great template? Or does one want to provide a great template that research, if confidential or not, gets better/fester? See also freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/articles/bsdl-gpl/article.html for an interesting discussion about that. — koppor 3 mins ago
@yo' Hi Tom.

1:06 PM
@PauloCereda Hello! :-)

@NicolaTalbot I just saw your datetime2 answer and decided to poke you! /poke
@Nicola: deeply sorry for the mess in the code audit.

@PauloCereda Don't worry. I should've mentioned. Thanks for your help.

@NicolaTalbot I did naughty code. :)
@Nicola: mind if I do a couple more refactoring?

@PauloCereda Well, technically it was comments rather than code ;-) but I'm sure @DavidCarlisle and @egreg would have realised who'd written it when Karl passed it to them :-)
@PauloCereda Sure.

@NicolaTalbot Duck code isn't safe by default. :)

1:11 PM
@PauloCereda :-)

@NicolaTalbot I was taking a look at alternatives, but I believe Java is the most sane approach for that kind of information.

@PauloCereda Yes, my original plan was to use Lua, but Java has the most OS-independent code.
I was thinking we ought to have one quick loop through args to check for --help, --version and --debug to deal with them first, and then have the main loop.

@yo': I am venturing into percussion lines in Lilypond. :)
@NicolaTalbot Nice idea. I was thinking if we should debug to a log file instead of the err stream.

@PauloCereda That's a good idea. It would help to separate it from the TeX transcript.

@NicolaTalbot Leave the argument parsing to me, and I will take a look on how to exploit the default logging mechanism of Java for that. :)

1:17 PM
@PauloCereda Thanks :-)

@NicolaTalbot I am the one to thank you for letting me help. :)

@PauloCereda Yay teamwork! :-)

yo'
@PauloCereda cool

@NicolaTalbot wooo

The guy in that arabic song repeatedly stated: I am crazy

1:19 PM
@yo' We will introduce the cajón in the church. :)
@Nicola: does any of the flags require an argument?

@PauloCereda Some of them do, but not all.
-d <file> or --pdfdate <file>
  Display date stamp of <file> in PDF format

-s <file> or --filesize <file>
  Display size of <file> in bytes

-i <sep> <dir> or --list <sep> <dir>

-u <file> or --uri <file>
  Display the URI of <file>

-p <file> or --path <file>

@NicolaTalbot ooh a challenge!

@PauloCereda Greetings from Toronto!

@StefanKottwitz Hi! Have fun at the TUG meeting! Can you take a photo of a moose for me? :)

@PauloCereda I did not bring a camera, but somebody may!

1:25 PM
@StefanKottwitz ooh moose
If the plural of goose is geese, can I say the plural of moose meese? :)
@AlanMunn: ^^ <3

@PauloCereda I don't know, I will ask the first one I'm meeting

@StefanKottwitz yes please. :)
Look at them mooses :D

Today we will go to the Niagara falls

@StefanKottwitz oooh

Hi guys

1:43 PM
@StefanKottwitz I just realized, that the map in my mind was incorrect. I place Toronto where Vancouver is and wondered about the short trip. :-) Oh my.
@Alenanno Good day, Sir.

@Johannes_B tips non-existent hat

@Alenanno :-)

@Johannes_B I've a colleague from Canada working here at my school. She's from a small town near Toronto...

@Alenanno 'ello!

@barbarabeeton <auhtor> ... Oops. Correction in the review queue. Let's see how long it takes for the typo to get corrected.
Already approved. No, it's not. Argh.

1:49 PM
hello all. about to leave for the niagara falls tour. (hi, @StefanKottwitz.) battery dying, have to go. (thanks, @Johannes_B.)

@barbarabeeton @stefan Have a good time guys.

@PauloCereda Yo!
@barbarabeeton Hello there!

@egreg when you ask for an example, do you mean an MWE?
@eg

@IrregularUser Usually, yes. But also non-working is fine, as long as the error is the issue at hand.

@egreg something like this throws an error for me:
\documentclass{article}
\usepackage{kotex}
\begin{document}

\end{document}
@egreg with error:! Font LUC/uhcmj/m/n/10/31=uwmj31 at 10.0pt not loadable: Metric (TFM) file notfound.<to be read again>relax \end
@Alenanno thanks, thought as much but wasn't sure

2:00 PM
@IrregularUser TeX errors can have many origins since commands can be redefined. Some errors are quite easy detect, but some may use a wrong package order etc. Without seeing the real code, it's almost impossible to detect such errors

@ChristianHupfer That's all of the code, yet if I replace ㄱ with 안녕하세요 it works fine
for reference it's from tex.stackexchange.com/a/144607/99134

@IrregularUser Well, that's Korean language -- I don't know anything about that, neither about the fonts, the characters etc.

@IrregularUser Works in texlive but fails with miktex for me. Some files are missing in miktex.

@UlrikeFischer Is there a way to find out which files are missing and download them?

@IrregularUser I'm just looking.

2:07 PM
@UlrikeFischer Much appreciated

2:18 PM
@IrregularUser You can find here ctan.org/tex-archive/systems/texlive/tlnet/archive a uhc.tar.gz. Download and unpack it in some folder (e.g. C:\uhc) outside miktex, keep the inner structure, you should e.g. have an C:\uhc\fonts\tfm folder. Add C:\uhc as a new local root with miktex settings, add \pdfmapfile{=umj.map} to your document.

3:22 PM
@StefanKottwitz @barbarabeeton I hope you are enjoying Toronto. You ce..rtainly got nice weather, although maybe hotter than you expected. It will probably keep the moose away.

@AlanMunn ooh the moose

RAIN

@Johannes_B Is it raining men, halleluijah?

@PauloCereda The same thing went trough my head <3

@Johannes_B LOLOL

3:42 PM
New discussion about license of apckage files, and more specifically: Templates

4:42 PM
The first car I saw out of the motorway in my destination town had the plate of Bielefeld!

@egreg Déjà vu

@Johannes_B Yes, but this is down in Dalmatia!

5:07 PM
OMG! Thank you for the app! It was such a hassle. The app worked great. — AimForClarity 4 hours ago
Appreciation. :)
