@MartinSchröder We could ask @barbara, or, I think @Kaveh1000 is writing something for UK-TUG (I don't know exactly, I'm not a member) --- maybe it could be reposted here, if he agreed?
@PauloCereda Yes. Any kernel later than the 4.3.* series. The 4.4.* all quit outputting to the screen once loaded (just after the grub menu). Otherwise, they seem to work well although my testing has obviously been somewhat minimal ;).
@PauloCereda Computer. Using DVD-D out with an integrated intel chip. I'm not the only one, though nobody seems to be taking all that much notice of the bug reports ;). I can't figure out if it is Fedora specific or not. (I tried searching and could only find the bug I'd filed and the follow-up me-toos. Oh, and a closed duplicate. ie all Fedora. But that doesn't mean much.)
@PauloCereda Works fine with 4.3.5. Problem kicks in long before we get to X.org. I'm using LVM over LUKS. I can't see the password prompt. That is graphical on Fedora, but I don't think it is Xorg. The root volume isn't even decrypted at that point - it only has what's in the minimal /boot partition.
@JosephWright Yep. I was looking for an old handout of mine from a talk I gave in (eek) 1994, so the document was likely a Word 5 doc. I get this message that says that it can't open the file but need to use the online subscription service. (I didn't look further into it.)
@TorbjørnT. well, all the comments make sense, to an extent: The 2nd one adds a link to our "follow up FAQ", and the other two are automatically generated. I personally delete the autocomments if they're redundant, but it's an extra action (and also, quite complicated, given how the review system works)
@yo' Can't you choose when doing a review to not add a comment? Or am I just confused? (Naturally, if the last two have are "mandatory" after a review, then I wont complain.)
@TorbjørnT. well, if you choose a reason, the comment is added automatically. So you can either: (1) not choose a reason (you don't want to teach that to people), or (2) come back and remove the comment (which is a burden)
@yo' -- but you can look at the comments that are already there, and if (and only if) the one you would have chosen is already there, then you can click on the "no comment needed" option. (not a real hard decision ...)
@yo' -- when i review an answer, and click on the "delete" option, the first choice is "no comment needed". i usually choose that if comments already posted explain the reason. (the options are different for questions, if memory serves.)
