@PauloCereda I'll do... and do start your serial voting promises (not for me, for other guys who need it more, e.g. @egreg and @DavidCarlisle and @HarishKumar and @Mico etc . ;-)
I have written my dissertation with LyX (which has been great), but now I need to submit it. This means I need to accord with my school's template. I have acquired and installed the class components, but I am having difficulty with the title page of all things. The class holds variables for up...
@ChristianHupfer he can't delete a post with undeleted answers (maybe undeleted answers with a positive score, I'm not sure, but this doesn't matter here)
@ChristianHupfer According to meta.stackexchange.com/questions/5221 questions with upvoted answers, an accepted answer, or multiple answers cannot be deleted by the asker.
@yo' You're on the safe side :D Profile with high rep can be deleted, but their votes etc. stick apparently. And I don't think that our Royal Duck will fly away from TeXDuck.SX .... @PauloCereda
@egreg +1-ed and accepted. Thanks! Sorry it took me a while. I was at a conference this weekend. I'm now in the airport waiting for my return flights. Hope you weren't already rep capped. :p
@yo' Came from Japanese.SE, sorry your question was closed. As a typographer, I recommend hyphenating at Aki-yama (where the kanji characters are separated), and then Akiya-ma as a fallback. Anywhere else would be weird.
@mirka Thank you very much! Well, if you feel sorry it was closed and you think it's on-topic, you can give a chance to it by voting for re-opening :-)
Does anyone know of a template for manuscripts of The American Naturalist Journal.
On the instructions to the authors they say they accept manuscripts in latex, but, if i'm not missing something important, they does not give a template like other journals. Take plos one for example.
I got the b...
@Ninj0r hi, sorry, I'm not sure what you mean. The question was closed. I got my answer elsewhere, so even though I think it should be reopened, I do not care anymore.
@Ninj0r well, A-kiyama is forbidden in Latin script typography in general, because you don't separate a single letter. So with this rule in mind, I would go with Aki-yama, using Akiya-ma as a last resort.
@yo' I understand. I'm glad to hear you got an answer; I came here because I thought I could help and didn't know you had found an answer. Akiya-ma might be weird to read for people who understand Japanese but I understand typesetting is difficult.
@yo'
@yo' So given what you said about A-ki-ya-ma not being possible, I would try to go with Aki-yama if possible.
@egreg Sorry but I have no idea what you are talking about...
@yo' Also Kodansha is one of the biggest Japanese publishers... (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kodansha) so I think if they hyphenate like this then I think you are pretty safe to do so
@yo' Good luck. I'm living in Japan so please message me if you get it. Btw- the picture is from Page 591 of that book that I linked you too. A highly recommended read :)
@yo' Anyways, I'm glad I could help. Good luck in your endeavors and take care :)
@JosephWright some but thought let others chip in, on your second on .81 I suppose I should look to see how hard it is to build from source, xetex turned out to be relatively straightforward... On the first on drivers, it depends. I'm not sure "pdfmode" is necessarily the right abstraction, if luatex for example ends up with dvi pdf and html output modes with similar feature coverage in pdf and html, which is extended from the pdf coverage in pdftex, it doesn't necessarily help to
... force the pdfoutput modes of different engines to be unified in the macro layer, perhaps.
@DavidCarlisle On the 0.81 business, the issue is I believe that pdftexconfig.tex needs to know the right primitive names, and that means addressing \pageheight, etc. early. I'm promised a 'pre-release' version of LuaTeX.
@DavidCarlisle LuaTeX producing DVI output uses a driver just like pdfTeX: dvips, dvipdfmx, etc. A direct HTML mode would be another driver (but likely built-in).
@DavidCarlisle Similar coverage in say PDF and HTML would be handled by DocStrip I'd hope
@DavidCarlisle Actually, re-reading Akira's mail we might not need to do anything :-)
@JosephWright I'm not sure I understand the difference between a built in driver and a pdf backend. But offline for a bit, back online once I'm home:-)
Is there a way to modify it so every time I put a box I will give a path to an image so every box gets a theme instead of having 2-3 different predefined box styles
also if I put text it runs through the image, can I avoid that?
@user2692669: ;-) Gonzalo Medina forgot to add that a \newtcolorbox can have an optional argument, in which you could set you special TikZ settings as he has done directly with the interior code= option
@ChristianHupfer I'll try it and get back to you, I notified him in tghe comment section about these problems, maybe he fixes it (Text running though image).
@ChristianHupfer christian I used the #1 solution thing inside the code (so if I say [lightbuld] then it includes lightbulb, but how can I create a condition that if I don't define anything then it won't include the graphic
@Johannes_B @StefanKottwitz Have you seen stuff like that before? Done a shutdown and restarted and everything was back to normal. But it was quite scary seeing the load rise and rise and rise.
@user2692669 Yeah, I think that won't work. Better you ask a question with you specific needs. I don't think I can answer that, but others will be able to do so
@Johannes_B Yes, sometimes. Even my Macbook sometimes runs like crazy. Slows down, fan gets louder, hotter, still responsive but hardly a real command in the terminal, sometimes I needed to shut it off.
@Johannes_B But that's because the Macbook often runs month without a reboot, just standby.
@Johannes_B It happens, a buggy thing eats the CPU :-) that's PCs :-) what I regularly encounter, is that attackers eat database connections, processes and such, on servers, such as DOS attacks without intention just badly brute force
@Johannes_B I guess the exact case is different. In my case, surprisingly the fan gets loud and louder, the laptop hot, I still can switch between programs, but at the terminal no "ps" or "top" gets started anymore, no response. I think Parallels caused it at such times.
