@Tezz I just posted a question related to the Purva Mimamsa school:

Q: What scriptures describe medicines to remove wrinkles and grey hair?

Keshav SrinivasanAs I discuss in this question, by far the most popular school of Hindu philosophy is the Vedanta school, which bases its tenets on the doctrines laid out in the Brahma Sutras, a work by the sage Vyasa which summarizes and systematizes the philosophical teachings of the Upanishads. (You can read t...

@TheDestroyer You may also be interested in it insofar as it's related to the 1000-year Yagna I told you about earlier.

@KeshavSrinivasan haha. Very few people know about Shabara and you are asking questions on what shabara said. But do you know about other things?

@Yogi It is not the misuse of mod power.

Q: What scriptures describe the wearing of the Mangala Sutra?

YogiOne of the most famous parts of a Hindu marriage ceremony is the tying of the Mangal Sutra. Yet the procedure for Vedic Marriage has nothing like Mangala Sutra involved (i.e. there is no Veda mantra described for tying this thread). So my question is, what scriptures describe the wearing of the...

@KeshavSrinivasan - What do you think about Atharvaveda charm's like charm for hair growth etc. Are they independent of medicines or they need to be recited alongside with applying /taking medicines for them to work😊

@SwiftPushkar Thanks for the edit.

@SreeCharan - 😊 And thanks to u also for nice corrections 👍👍

@Yogi - In Bhagvatam skanda 10 , chapter 53 ,shloka 48 , we can see the mentioning of Mangalsutra - This chapter is about Rukhmini Haran , where Rukmini worshipping Ambika devi and Brahmin and their wives , Although the word used for Mangal Sutra is "Kantha-Sutra" कंठ सूत्र but Gita press translation of Kantha-Sutra is mangal sutra.- vedabase.com/en/sb/10/53/47-48

@TheDestroyer Sorry, I didn't understand you. What other things?

@Pandya Archive.org has three of the four volumes of Surdas' Sur Sagar in Hindi: archive.org/details/… archive.org/details/… archive.org/details/…

@KeshavSrinivasan "the improving of digestive powers", the improving of voice and complexion and the resuscitation of memory ; etc..

4:45 PM
@TheDestroyer Well, the other stuff doesn't seem that impressive to me. Like there are lots of foods you can eat to improve digestion. But it was surprising to me that ancient Indians knew how to get rid of wrinkles. After all, Western medicine has only devised ways to get rid of wrinkles fairly recently, like the invention of Botox for instance.

@SwiftPushkar Good find :D but I think Kantha sutra is a general term for any thread (even golden thread) worn around neck, so you need to provide additional proofs to prove that its actually Mangala Sutra they are talking about. PrabhuPada translates it as 'Sacred thread' Instead of Mangala sutra so that is also a clear conflict you need to resolve......
@SwiftPushkar Also I doubt about the authenticity of the verse, because it is talking of typical offerings given in idolatry worship. IMHO Idol worship was nearly zero in Dwapara. In Standard Vedic marriage there is nothing like Ambika Puja which is necessary. hinduism.stackexchange.com/a/17397/489

A: How did the Vedas in Hinduism come into existence?

Keshav SrinivasanThe Vedas are Shruti, which means "that which is heard" (what Christians would call "revelation"). Hindus believe that from time immemorial, sages known as Dhrishtas (literally "seers") have, during a state of Tapasya (deep meditation), heard sacred verses directly from the gods. In the Dwapara...
