I am an atheist. Please do not take my question offensively, I am trying to understand and learn what Muslims think about these things - feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on any of my points.

In many Muslim countries, apostasy is considered a punishable offence, in some -by death. Marrying someone who is not a Muslim is also not allowed or considered very taboo. Blasphemy is also considered an offence, and in some countries, punishable by death.
