I don't have a "production" machine, in the sense that I don't really do any "work" on my iMac, it's purely a personal machine, but even so I've been a day one upgrader for some time now for a couple of reasons

1) Generally, they are pretty stable out of the door, and have been for ages, 2) I have over the years reduced the number of 3rd party apps I use and don't use anything that's particularly old (by happenstance, not design) so as a rule the developers are active and compatible on day one also.

3), Time Machine makes it a no brainer if something horrible happens
