@bmike I've used one in the store and it can definitely be held one-handed, but it seems too large to actually use it one-handed (unless it's been set down, of course)

I can't use it one handed, but it is way better to hold and do little things one handed like scroll or page.
It won't fatigue one hand for quite a while longer than the iPads

my third-gen ipad leaves impressions in my hand if I hold it for a while
honestly, it's easier to hold a MacBook one-handed because, even though it's heavier, it's not as sharp

Apple nailed the edges on the mini IMO. Also the edge touch filtering is magic

I need to get my hands on a mini. If only for 5 minutes.

Yes. Good luck putting it down after 5

if it's anything like my iPod touch, I'll think it's so light that I'm going to drop it, so I'll put it down and leave it for fear of dropping it.
That's the nice thing about the Nexus 7 - it's just heavy enough that i don't feel like it's going to slip out of my hands. (or perhaps it's dense. Not sure.)

actually, I probably put it down after 2
it's a nice little device, but with both an iPad and an iPhone I don't really need another iOS device
plus, the lack of a retina screen just kills it for me
I'm retina-only for my screens here on out
(and, thinking back upon my purchases, I guess I have been since my iPhone 4 in 2010)

how light is it? Like, omg-its-going-to-float-out-of-my-hands light, or oh-this-is-light?

well, I only played with it for 2 minutes, but I'd say "light enough"
it doesn't really have that airy feel of the iPhone 5, but I think that's just because they managed to get it so thin

JRG - it's got a more solid feel than the 5. That is wispy light. This doesn't get heavy, but feels more substantial. It hits more of your hand so you get a much better grip m

jrg
Ok, cool.

The iPad mini is really the first PADD sized iOS device

jrg
ah, yes. The PADD.

I'm patently waiting for the iTricorder

So, I'm very impressed with Apple's maps. Even though it's got bad press, I'm impressed with its routing. Unlike every other service ( including Google maps, Yahoo, and Magellan) always routes us the wrong way home. Apple maps is the first to do the right way

@jrg haha, that's okay, though I usually try not to use words like that :-)
