There is an interesting post over on EE meta.electronics.stackexchange.com/questions/5610/… regarding migrating - it was asked by one of users

@Jacobm001, on a house-keeping rampage? (but thanks for finding those ;) )

@Ghanima I've got to be productive somehow. ;)

what's the time? you should not be productive but sleeping I guess

It's 10:45 pm. I'm still trying to finish an assignment due at midnight.
I'm staring at the last 2 parts of the last question, and I'm just not feeling it.

ok, 1045 is really no time :)
I like this "staring" part most

"staring" as "to stare" not put a gold sticky star on it! :P

6:47 AM
yes, yes ;)

Although, now I am curious as to how the GTA would grade it if I did :P

staring on papers, reports, grant proposals, you name it, I am the master of staring

What do you research?
Assuming I'm not venturing into the too personal territory.

we call it packaging and assembly technologies, mainly for "system integration" and "micro assembly" for optical and precision systems

So, like how to put things together?

6:51 AM
yes, sounds like something a three-year old would do research about ;)

My best friend (he's a chemical engineer) did a 6 month internship where all he did was try to figure out the best way to coat a spinning disk with a shiny powder. Everything in science sounds like a toddler could do it if you explain it to a lay person :P

;)

Except my field. I can't get out two words beyond programmer before people's eyes glaze over and they assume I'm an alien.
people's? peoples'? @SlySven: HELP!

@Jacobm001 I actually know that software also looks like a toddler did it ;)

This showed up in a recent S.O. blog and I thought @Jacobm001 might be interested:

@goldilocks The trouble is Herpetology sounds as it if is related to medical conditions also known as shingles or one treated by a generic version of Acyclovir!
