12:35 AM
so the mistakes that were made I pointed them out during the match, I think
@BernardMeurer I think 9. d3 hurted most

I wasn't going to give you the pleasure of getting that queen :p

and that it should have been followed up with 10. Bd2
not with moving the king

True, that pawn move was silly, I lost sight of my knight

another key point was 18. ... Bf5
where I wanted to fork king + queen with bishop
I think you spotted it well, but maybe Ke2 was better?
I ended up picking up another point there

Yeah I'm always afraid to put my king forward

12:42 AM
but that one wasn't that bad, at that point you were down 4 points which, given made mistakes tally up to 1x pawn in the past exchange and 1x knight from a misstep
then 21. ... Rb8 rolls around and whilst you do prevent checkmate, you don't prevent the pin on the rook, your last major piece
well, pin, it's technically the king that's pinned
but it must move
so the piece behind it falls
h3 would have fixed the situation better than f3,
g3 would have been countered with Be4

True, I thought on that one for a while

to be honest, I didn't spot it myself until 1 turn later
was too occupied with getting my knight safe after my attack was "over"
even then you could still have moved either a pawn or the king to save the rook, but after that it got taken for free
and then you were 9 points down in the end game and it was over

I think I did a little better this one, but fucked up bad with that first knight I got taken out

this goes to trading pieces again - when you're 9 points down at the start of the game, ehhhhh well ofc it sucks and ofc you're on a fast track to a loss, but your opponent has 33% more points than you do...
and about the same in play
at the end, however,
I had rook + knight + bishop + 2 pawns in active play
you had 1 bishop and 3 pawns or so
that's 13 vs 6 and then it's overwhelming
yes, you certainly did a lot better here
a common chess strategy is to think moves ahead
but that's a bit vague advice
better advice is that you're playing the game from two sides, always
the nasty part about all this however is that uh
the player that is winning can usually think in the opponents time
so you think long and hard about your move
eventually play one of the 3 moves I expected
I play the move I wanted to make for that move
and then you're back on the spot
its very mentally tiring

It is, but it's pretty fun to play
Thinking it through and then realizing you're stupid :p

12:54 AM
turns 12-16 were pretty well played, though
I didn't expect Bb2 at all
was like heeeey watcha doin over there

hahaha
I was aiming for that Knight

tbh I only saw it as an attack on the pawn
it was an undefended pawn, you could have picked it up maybe
if you really wanted that knight, maybe you should have just taken it
with the bishop
18 Bxf6
pretty well played
I have to go sleep now
it's 2 AM and I got work tomorrow as usual
night

Goodnight man!
And thanks a bunch for teaching me chess :)
