@Memor-X yes, that was kinda my point. Even if some form of written record exist, it may be embellished for the sake of glorification.
I mean, just look at what we got with King Arthur
but.. such a relationship could be interesting to be used in a game.
Especially if you "lived" the change during the game.

Could be Yasuke is using his 'luxury pet' status to be an assassin and to get places he could not if he was a commoner
starting like a glorified slave in a golden cage, kept as a trophy. Then going thru a friend phase that culminates in a "why you betrayed my friendship" at the end if the lord discover Yasuke was a member of the assassin guild.
could work and be an actual good reason to go and "cherry pick" an unexpected character like Yasuke.
That said, I am pretty sure they have nothing like that planned and they choose the character only because "look! we are Inclusive!!"
@Memor-X @Fredy31 I heard you needed an accurate record of ancient Greece history and deities...
Clearly, you should just refer to the best source available.
Little Pollon (Japanese: おちゃめ神物語コロコロポロン, Hepburn: Ochamegami Monogatari Korokoro Poron, lit. "The Story of Little Goddess Roly-Poly Pollon") aka POLON is a musical Greek mythology-based Japanese anime series, based on the 1977 manga series Olympus no Pollon (オリンポスのポロン, Orinposu no Poron, "Pollon of Olympus") by Hideo Azuma. The anime television series aired in 1982 on Fuji TV lasting 46 episodes. The series is noted for its faithful portrayal of the Gods of Mount Olympus as fallible beings succumbing to real human faults and weaknesses, such as selfishness, temper tantrums, debauchery, laziness...

@Memor-X They clearly feeling the heat after the Crew's closure

@Fredy31 to be fair they said that you can explore offline, not that you can "be offline at all times" or that you "can enjoy the full game offline"
No Man Sky requires you to briefly activate internet connection in the game menu to be able to see the option to start an expedition. And while you can go offline as soon as clicking the "start game" button, some optional expedition steps only work online

'play the entire journey offline' i read that as you wont be blocked
but the 'checkup on install' is stupid and will have the same problem
because if I first install it on a computer in 20 years, oops, server gone
but I imagine that one is also easy to check off in a last update

@Fredy31 Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 can be played offline but some items do not drop offline and those items are needed to craft MORE items.
So, if you play offline you can't use level 6 Q-Bangs

like in the stopkillinggames movement thats the only thing I fucking want. That when they want to shut down the server they just push a last update to steam and PSN and XBL that makes the check not necessary
Force publishers to have a fallback that if the server doesnt respond, no problem

And even worse, your local smol-but-actually-thousand-years-old Kami of Time can be only unlocked playing online in some time gated event that they almost never rerun

1:00 PM
@Fredy31 Just remove the ability to download your old purchases. Disney did it If my memory serves.

Really, and it shouldnt be worded like that, but for games preservation, a released game needs to be able to reach credits. at any time
and I guess that would be problematic if you boot an old PS5 in 20 years, PSN is gone and you didnt get the last update or something

@Fredy31 what if a game's credits are accessible through the main menu?

yeah thats why i said the wording shouldnt be like that

@Fredy31 don't worry, that old PS5 won't even boot

HOW ABOUT OPENING CREDITS??
:p
Yeah its a huge problem in the industry
Fucking sucks that an old movie, I can pop it in and it will work
games today, nope

1:04 PM
There's a good chance that in 20 years, all of the security certificates that PS5 needs to do anything online won't work anymore

and its by their own doing
at least we should have emulators for that by then

Well... some random considerations:
First: I would love if Nintendo and the others would just make the schematics for the old consoles they no longer produce public and reproducible. I want a DS replacement. Either I buy a refurbished one or one of those replicas that use Roms instead of carts. But I own the carts! I want an hardware replica, not a glorified emulator!
As for emulators itself.. I get the copyright, but I also find it a little pretentious to think that there is much $$$ left to gain in the sales of a game like ... the nes Takeshi Challenge. So in an ideal world a fan translat
Third... give me a second....
a quick reminder that Amazon sells pre-installed SD card with thousand roms for most old console systems.
I think that if you check Amazon UK you can even find a complete RetroPie sold straight by Amazon

@SPArcheon That looks super scammy

2:40 PM
@MBraedley the funny part? based on the reviews - not at all, or at least not in the intended sense. The product works and is what they claim. The "scammy" part is that you buy online on amazon a pre-configured Retropie SD card that also has basically every old system rom
They manage to hand-wave the legal issues with a line in the product specifications that says that "you should delete all the roms you don't have a license for"
Even selling a complete Retropie console (Raspberry + fan + case, prebuilt, preinstalled software) would be perfectly legal. But here they preload the roms too.

Aw man they're ending lol
But the bot busting stuff is super fun, they put together a list of verified botters about to get a perma ban, force them onto a special world, and a jmod runs around murdering them all
And then they get force logged and banned
Showing their bank value to show how much cheated gold they're taking out of the game
Including a guy with a 10m stack of platinum tokens
Which is, what, 10B GP
HAHAHAHAHAHA that guy was total level 2276, one off max
Botting his max cape on main
