@spugsley Basically, the most effective thing you can do is make sure you reapply often, which most people don't. Also, use sun protecting clothes.

Also, sunscreen has the same window of efficacy, regardless of SPF, I think.

And higher SPF lulls people into, as @FAE said, reapplying less often.
