I still don't bother going over level 149 most of the time
because without waiting an hour for all my cooldowns, I can't do it

Did not even realize you could have more than one ancient at a time.

it takes me less time to get to 149 than it does to get from 149 to 156+
@StrixVaria you can, but the price grows exponentially

@Chippies "(idle)"?

first one is 1 soul, second is 2, third is 4

@badp Haven't clicked for 60 seconds.

1:01 PM
@badp the two anciens I have have idle bnuses

ahhhh

one is a ton of gold for not clicking for 5 seconds
and second is ton of dps for not clicking 60 sec

My one ancient drops cooldown times.

more specifically 5*25% gold and 7*25% dps

I already have the idle dps bonus; I'm going to make sure I have the idle gold bonus as well before prestiging.

1:01 PM
How do you poeple get thorugh that game so fast?

don't look at me :P
I haven't ascended yet.

I've been at it since @strix posted it here
@badp you should, my first ascension I didn't even have frostleaf
it was too slow

@Chippies but I get "free" hero souls every 10 levels
how much money and DPS do you lose on ascension? all of it?

@badp you start over, but you keep your hero souls (which are extra dps)

@Chippies And you keep your ancients.

1:03 PM
your screenshot had +12 souls I think? that's +120% dps

420% of nothing is still nothing :P

@StrixVaria assuming you have them, yes
@badp and you get a click bonus from achievs to help you start out
takes like 20 seconds to get your first dps hero
after that it takes over

I dunno, I already have a 300% bonus. The 120% extra bonus seems... not worth it.

@Chippies I got bored with this because it's not kittens

@badp then buy dps ancient, its bonus multplies

1:05 PM
@Chippies I'd have to reroll.

@OrigamiRobot I'm running both
@badp get the gold one, then your second choice should be dps
gold is super important as well

I'd have to reroll for both

your first choice doesn't include gold?
wait, you have one already
well idk then
anyways, I gotta go :x ttyl

I have -1 monster/level, +1% primal boss, +2s golden clicks, -2% boss life

@Chippies So was I

1:06 PM
Later
They all sound exceptionally stupid.

i5-4690 for $188 on amazon
Tempting

oh right! I can just savescum.
SAVESCUMMING IS A GO

AT what point do hero souls and ancients start to be a thing?

Nevermind, that doesn't help

@Chippies As far as I can tell a gold% boost and a dps% boost both boost your gold the same, except that with the dps% boost you could get to a higher tier which would boost your gold more than the gold% boost directly.
So I went for DPS first.
But since they stack multiplicatively, now that I know I can have both, I want both.

1:09 PM
I haven't seen anything like hero souls or ascention options or anything.
or ancients or whatever.

@Arperum Ascension is when you get Amenhotep upgraded enough; hero souls start at level 100.

I paid something like $250 for a 24" monitor ~6ish years ago.
I'm surprised to see they haven't come down in price that much.

@StrixVaria Highest hero I have is abbadon :(
How do you people get through this game this fast? Let a clicker run 24/7?

Q: Strange lag when playing COD: Ghosts on PS4

Mr.SyraxThe lag doesn't appear to be network related, it's too consistent, it's almost like it goes in slow motion for about 1-2 seconds. It doesn't appear to be when anything particular is happening on screen either, it happens mabe 5-6 times in a period of a couple hours. My setup has everything plugge...

@OrigamiRobot I envy your hardware prices.

1:13 PM
@5pike This is a really good deal, methinks.
I'm probably going to jump on it.

@StrixVaria That's not really true -- you need to click to defeat bosses

On newegg it's $225

I am terrible at games. I can't even do a clicker game properly...

@badp Or use all your abilities.

@OrigamiRobot The cheapest i5-4690 boxed here is 191,23 € (~ 245.40$)

1:15 PM
@5pike Keep in mind this is not the K

If you're on level X, then a gold boost and a dps boost of the same amount should increase your gold by the same amount. But if you can burst damage your way up to level X+5, then you're going to get more gold.

The K is 217 €

So I think DPS is slightly more valuable than gold, in terms of ancient upgrades.

@StrixVaria Yes -- if you use all of your abilities your DPS from clicks is a ton more than your normal DPS

@5pike Wow, K on newegg is only $240

1:16 PM
3 mins ago, by 5pike
@OrigamiRobot I envy your hardware prices.

@5pike I can get one for € 189,90, not including costs for sending.

Last I ran the numbers I get 12.178.462s from normal DPS and powersurge and 376.119.629s DPS from clicks and all other abilities
from a base DPS of 6.089.231s
so really it only matters when you're grinding mobs for gold.

@5pike After tax it's $201

It may be time to revisit building a new computer.

@OrigamiRobot That's still much cheaper.

1:18 PM
The K was on sale for $210 last week
Stupid tax
Makes it so hard to compare prices.

Tax is always included in our prices.

After getting Bhaal, my click DPS has improved to 430.440.443s

I have to pay tax on some sites, but not others.
Amazon and TigerDirect will tax me, but Newegg wont

@OrigamiRobot How does the tax work?
Seems confusing

Each state has its own sales tax.
NC is 7.5% IIRC

1:22 PM
@5pike Very
MI is 6.0%

@OrigamiRobot We have to pay provincial sales tax, and then federal sales tax on top of that.
so right now, we pay 13% in taxes on more or less everything.

So, every state has their own tax + a federal tax?

Currently, online, you don't pay sales tax unless the place is based in the same state (this is likely to change)
There is no federal sales tax in the US, and some states have 0 sales tax

@5pike There is no federal sales tax in the USA.

> North Carolina has a state-levied sales tax of 4.75%, effective July 1, 2011, with most counties adding an additional 2% tax, for a total tax of 6.75% in 76 of the 100 counties. Mecklenburg County levies an additional 0.5% tax, which is directed towards funding the light rail system, for a total of 7.25% and the sales tax in a few other counties is 7%. Durham County imposes an additional 0.5% tax onto the 7% rate for funding public transportation, making the total rate 7.5%.

1:23 PM
@5pike I'm in Canada.

Iirc

We have silly taxes.

@StrixVaria So, just state tax.

@Frank Your sales taxes are a lot higher but you also get 100% free healthcare. I'd make that trade.

@5pike For sales tax, yes

1:24 PM

whooptie fucking doo. up to 7% tax. We pay 21% on everything, with some exceptions where there are things that are taxed at 6% or 12%

@StrixVaria I'm also getting a solid third of every paycheck deducted for various things, like income tax, employment insurance, blah blah blah.

@Frank Yes, that does sound about on par with what I'm paying.
I also have money deducted out of my paycheck for health insurance.

What's that? There's something that the US does that isn't the silliest in the world?

Belgium also has some system where you can have to give up to 49% of your income as tax, and then when you buy stuff you are subject to one more tax of 21%...

1:26 PM
@StrixVaria Free healthcare? ha! It really isn't that free.

The 49% is only for high incomes. Theoretically.

The amount people are taxed depends on how many services the government provides. The Canadian government provides more services than the USA government does so higher taxes are expected.

@Arperum Ouch

@Frank I bring home 66% of my gross income

Although some stupid politicians are trying to make that a baseline for everyone.

1:27 PM
Controversial opinion: Rich people should be taxed more.

@OrigamiRobot Okay, so that's similar. Weird.

Taxing poor people is mean and shitty.

@StrixVaria I don't think they should.

The other 33% includes heath insurance and 401k

I was under the impression that Americans were taxed less than us.

1:28 PM
@StrixVaria We have that, but the current government that is being created is trying to change it.

Why punish the people who've done work and earned money? It's killing innovation.

@StrixVaria Rich people are the ones with the money, and they bribe the people that make the rules.

@RPiAwesomeness And this is why arguing about politics is silly. There are valid arguments on either side, so it just comes down to opinion.

@Frank Taxed less, maybe, but we also have to pay for health insurance

@RPiAwesomeness So you'd rather have they tax people who don't work and thus don't earn money? that's not going to work.

1:29 PM
@OrigamiRobot So it's basically a complete wash, it seems.

@Arperum No, I just don't think that the rich should have higher tax rates than everyone else.

@Frank Except insurance doesn't cover 100%
So you still win

Same thing with USA's corporate taxes. We have the highest corporate taxes anywhere, and it's killing small businesses and causing the prices on locally-made things to go up and keeps money from being put towards innovation.

@RPiAwesomeness In order to collect enough taxes with a flat rate across the board, the poor are going to be taxed so much that they can't afford to live. If you lower the tax rate so the poor can still get by, then the government won't collect enough money to actually do anything.

@OrigamiRobot If you can call losing a third of your income to the government winning.

1:30 PM
The solution is to tax rich people at a higher percentage, since they can afford to lose. They still make more money than poor people, and earning more money will still net them more money, so there is still incentive to improve.

@Frank We pay the same percentage and you get better health coverage.

@OrigamiRobot You also have a 401K in there.

I cannot claim to know anything about corporate taxes, so I'll sit that argument out.

@Frank You don't? I didn't know that.

@OrigamiRobot Nope. Those are employer or independent choice.

1:31 PM
@strix I'd wager you know as much as he does tbh

@Frank They are here too

Brutally, but totally honest

@StrixVaria That is a very true statement. However, the issue is that the federal government wastes a lot of money on things that should be funded at a state or local level. If it cut back on a lot of these programs, and lessened various taxes it could tax everyone less and still make it by.

@StrixVaria Corporations pay effective tax rates that are much lower than personal ones, due to their capability to leverage what could be construed to be unethical methods to avoid being taxed.
@OrigamiRobot My current employer has no pension plans at all.

@Frank This is what I thought, which is why I didn't really understand when @RPiAwesomeness said they were taxed too much.

1:33 PM
If governments had the samerules applied to them as do normal businesses they'd all go bankrupt in seconds.

It's one of the things I'm working on hammering into at least my department's perks.

If anything corporations need to actually start paying their fair share of taxes, which may ease the burden on individuals.

@StrixVaria It would at least ease the crushing deficit America runs every year.

@StrixVaria This. SO much this.

@StrixVaria But then we run into the issue of small businesses not being able to start up or continue because they are taxed too heavily and we then lose those jobs and anything that those companies might have sprung forth.

1:35 PM
Seriously, the top 10 biggest businesses in Belgium pay average ~1% tax due to all kinds of special rules they misuse. and are rpobably made for them.

@RPiAwesomeness Unless you have a scaling tax for business like for individuals.

@StrixVaria Which would be a very good idea.

Small businesses should not be taxed the same was as corporations.
For the same reasons low-income should not be taxed the same as high-income

@OrigamiRobot Yeah, issue is they often are and are included in programs they can't afford.

@RPiAwesomeness Wait, so now you are saying a scaled tax is good, and two minutes ago you wanted a complete no-sclaed tax?

1:36 PM
@Arperum No, sorry. I was clear enough.

@RPiAwesomeness wasn't?

^^
I meant that the way the taxes are set up, they aren't technically fair, if you look at them straight on. However, the larger the corporation or person, the more they should pay because they're bringing in more.
Wha....
Amazingly, U.S. taxpayers spend more than 1.4 billion dollars a year on the Obamas. Meanwhile, British taxpayers only spend about 58 million dollars on the entire royal family.
Dang....

@RPiAwesomeness How'd they calculate that?

@RPiAwesomeness It doesn't help if you block of half a town because you are visiting. remembers obama's visit to belgium that resulted in basically millions spent just for that stupid single visit.

I mean, by the numbers, I'm assuming they're including the operating costs for Camp David?

1:41 PM
But that's a bit excessive IMO
@Yuuki I dunno.
@Arperum uh huh. Yeah. He spends far too much money.

@RPiAwesomeness Where are you getting that number from?

I'd be willing to bet if you compared most presidents in the same manner you'd get roughly the same number.

And I understand that the president does need to have good stuff, he's on the national stage.

@RPiAwesomeness That was not his money... That was the money I pay so this country can continue to run itself into the ground.

@Unionhawk After accounting for inflation.

1:43 PM
Yes

@Unionhawk Possibly, but if that's the case, why are we spending so much more on our presidents+family than UK is spending on the entire royal family?

ANd they spent millions of money on the visitof the president of the US , so he could go visit some random town, for which they basically cleared the streets of said town for way too long.

@RPiAwesomeness Because the US presidential family are more than just figureheads.

@Yuuki Ah, that is very true.

Iunno. Who cares? Why do we have to compare the president to the Queen of England? They're not the same position.
At all

1:45 PM
President has governmental responsibilities (not that he stay within his bounds :P) while the queen is just a figurehead.

The Queen's power is largely symbolic whereas the President's is emphatically not.

I think at this point, the Queen is entirely symbolic

@StrixVaria I hate when the word "fair" comes up when discussing taxation.

@Yuuki Yeah. I'd hate to have Obama for life. Nothing against black people, but he's just been running this country into the ground.

@RPiAwesomeness And he's only being stopped by the virtuous Congress, no?

1:47 PM
@Sterno "fair" in relation to the percentages that non-weasels pay.

this Queen is not just symbolic. She vetoes stuff secretly

It's not Obama's that's been running this country into the ground. It's every friggin' politician for the last decade or so.
@MattЭллен And purrs.

@StrixVaria Maybe. In particular what bothers me is the idea that the rich should pay a higher percentage because that would be "more fair", which to me is the opposite of "fair" (regardless of whether or not that might be a good idea)
Of course, your context was corporations, who are excellent at avoiding taxes

@Sterno That's not the point I was trying to make. The rich shouldn't pay more taxes because it's more "fair". They should pay more taxes because it doesn't cripple them to do so, like it would the poor.

@Sterno If we wanted to be straight-on, strictly fair, then everyone would be taxed the same amount.

1:49 PM
@RPiAwesomeness No, that's also not fair.
As I mentioned before, that is slanted against the poor.
There is no such thing as a "fair" tax for all. It's a good point @Sterno makes.

Which is exactly my problem with talking about "fair" with regards to taxation. Everyone just argues about what's fair.
I'd rather talk about GOOD FOR THE COUNTRY

@StrixVaria No, it isn't slanted towards anyone. If everyone pays the same percentage of what they make, that's technically fair. However, it isn't good for lots of people.

@Yuuki That is correct, and belive me, it's going on all over the world.

(or, to be very honest, GOOD FOR ME AND THE PEOPLE I CARE ABOUT AND NOT TOO TERRIBLY HARMFUL TO ANYONE ELSE)

@RPiAwesomeness That's not the same thing as "everyone would be taxed the same amount".

1:51 PM
@Arperum #CrappyPoliticians
@Yuuki Sorry, I thought that was how people would take it.

@RPiAwesomeness No, it's not technically fair. If a rich person pays 30% of his million dollars, he still has $700,000 to live off of. If a poor person pays 30% of his $20,000, he still can't afford a place to live.

@RPiAwesomeness It's not fair when the amount being taxed is all income and not just the amount more than cost of living.

@OrigamiRobot Whoa.
@RPiAwesomeness You even agreed with me.

"profits" if you will

@StrixVaria Yes, that is true, and why the graduated tax has to be in place. However, if we weren't looking at having the cost of living, and everyone is paying the same percentage, then it's what could be considered "fair". No-one pays more percentage than anyone else.
However, it is all opinions.

1:54 PM
@StrixVaria I completely disagree with your definition of fair.

I have drama going on at work and in the Bridge? How exciting!

@Wipqozn Is the work drama about taxes as well?

also I agree with @Sterno you shouldn't care about what's "fair", but what's best for the country, and the people in it.
And like @StrixVaria said, 30% means more to a poor person than a rich person.

I guess I'm a person in it.
But especially me.
Well, hooray for network lag killing the first message in that set of 3, making the rest make less sense

and I agree with @OrigamiRobot that he's really handsome, but I'm not sure if I agree with his point about "above the cost of living" until I've put more thought into that.

1:56 PM
@Sterno Good. I agree with your stance that we should shut up about what "fair" means and figure out what's "GOOD FOR THE COUNTRY".

@Sterno If by "less" you mean "zero"

@Wipqozn Exactly! This is what I've been trying to say. It's not best for the country, I'm just stating what would technically fair.

Maybe not us in particular, but the discussion of taxation in general.

@OrigamiRobot That would be less, yes.

Flat rate == technically fair != good for nation/inhabitants

1:57 PM
@Arperum No sir. About various things, mostly stemming from people being bad at their jobs.
And then digital needing to deal with it.

@Wipqozn Are you involved in the drama?

0
Q: Does your equipment/weapons degrade?

BenMy first piece of information on this topic came from the inventory item "Weapon parts" that you got from dismantling weapons. Weapon parts - used to upgrade and repair weapons. There is also the same descriptions for the three armour dismantled parts. My second clue was that after a while, I ...

@RPiAwesomeness I think the general consensus is stop using the word "fair" because it's a subjective shitty word. I disagree that that's technically fair. If you want to keep talking about taxation, that's not an issue, but please avoid what "fair" means or what would be "fair". :)

@Wipqozn I wasn't suggesting that as a solution. I was just saying that's part of what makes a flat rate for everyone nonsensical.

@Sterno I like how that video implies that John Oliver's been on two dates with Beyonce.

1:58 PM
@StrixVaria Yes

I am now reminded that I am some number of episodes behind on John Oliver, and thus have things to watch tonight. Yay!

@Sterno Whoo!

@Arperum Yes.
