@Powerlord Really nice!

3ventic reports that his landline ISP and his mobile ISP are both dead, and he can't get his OVH VPN to resolve hosts either
Has Finland gone off the grid or something?
(Steam chat still works)

@badp Huh. I haven't heard anything about that.

@badp If a whole country would go off the grid, there should be some news, but I can't really find anything.

@Powerlord I like all the comments about people getting a Scooby-do "vibe" from it.

3:12 PM
@5pike it's a giant conspiracy! Of course there's no news, the news is in on it

@KevinvanderVelden That would be a very very well organised conspiracy, if every news outlet is involved.

@5pike it was the lizardpeople

It could just be the Great Firewall of Finland.

Not the lizardpeople

@5pike yes, they send the Illuminati to tell the moon nazis to make the news outlets not say anything about it

3:15 PM
THE LIZARD PEOPLE WERE FINNISH ALL ALONG
to the timecube!
we must embrace the power of the 4 Simultaneous Days Same Earth Rotation in order to reach out to Thy Outer GabeN
only He can save us

Oh noes, @3ventic was a lizard all along?

@5pike DID I JUST HELP A LIZARDPERSON GET BACK ONLINE

@badp SEEMS LIKE YOU DID!!

I AM THE HERO HUMANITY DESERVES, NOT THE HERO HUMANITY NEEDS

WE SHOULD LOCK YOU AWAY, JUST TO MAKE SURE!

3:18 PM
@5pike THERE IS NO TIME JUMP IN THE TIMECUBE

@badp ... what the hell? This site is crazy!

It's only my ISP

@5pike you only now found out about timecube.com?

@badp Yes, first time I see it.

It's only missing "CHECKMATE TEACHERS"

3:30 PM
Oh god, there are more pages?

@5pike you missed the "NEXT PAGE" link at the bottom?
CLEARLY YOU ARE TOO BRAINWASHED

@badp I'm not even CLOSE to the bottom, mang

YOUR MIND JUST CAN'T EVEN THE TIMECUBE

@badp IT LITERALLY CANNOT EVEN
My brain won't parse this stuff

It is slightly easier to read (it's still the same words) if you copy paste it to notepad or something so the text is normal formatted

3:32 PM
I think this website is the textbook example of Poe's law

24 hours in 00:01 to 00:01. the earth is a 1442 sided polygon
timecube is a lie

@MattЭллен what's the name for a 1442-side polygon?

@badp something very clever

Oh! Time cube! Man, that brings me back...

@MattЭллен tetradecahectatetracontakaidigon
so... timetetradecahectatetracontakaidigon
rolls right off the tongue

3:34 PM
@badp wow.
@badp it's the most logical choice

Wait, Disney Infinity's on Steam now?
Whaaaaat?

yeah Disney published a bunch of their games on Steam.

I'm a little confused as how that works considering the collectible thingies. And if it doesn't use the collectibles, then I don't see why anyone would want it.

@OrigamiRobot that part of the palm is actually touching the mouse, in my case
it's not fully resting on it, but it is touching

3:39 PM
@Chippies If that part of my palm is not fully supported, it hurts after a while

OK. Is this a good remake?

@MattЭллен people have mixed feelings on that one

@OrigamiRobot I guess you have really big hands and you curve your hand to fully grip the mouse?

because Duck Tales was a great game

@MattЭллен i've heard it stayed pretty true to the original, but added some things that people didn't like
like cutscenese

3:39 PM
I have never heard anyone else complain about such a thing

there's plenty of YouTube videos on the topic

interesting.

but I don't really know any PC users with extraordinarily big hands either

The main new feature is the cutscenes have the original voice actors from the show
including Scrooge's who was like 92 at the time of recording

I don't think my hands are extraordinarily big

3:40 PM
:-O

@MattЭллен It's pretty decent. Haven't played it, though.
I'd wait a couple days, though; Steam sales incoming.

Tomorrow I'm going to eat turkey until I almost pass out. Then I'll cram down some ham.

@Frank good point

@Sterno I hope you give Skydrift a sharpie so she can draw on you while you're passed out.

@MattЭллен 76 minutes apparently

3:43 PM

@badp oh man. are they unskippable in the game?

@Frank There are many rules of parenting, but chief among them is never give a small child a permanent marker.

@Sterno Even if she knows better than to draw on the wall?

@Chippies If I put my hand on my mouse straight on, my thumb sits on G18

3:45 PM
If I angle the mouse so that my thumb is on G13, it doesn't hurt

what the hell, how do you even use the mouse?

Dark bum <3

my thumb is on g13/g12 by default

@Frank "knows better" ain't got nothin' to do with it

between the first column and 2nd column of the thumb buttons kinda
I actually find the last column of thumb buttons really annoying to press

3:46 PM
@ʞɹɐzǝɹ Yeah, I saw that.

@OrigamiRobot the only explanation I can see is that you either a) angle your hand in a weird way that makes no sense or b) your index and middle fingers are much longer proportionally relative to the thumb

@OrigamiRobot that's... confusing my brain
you seem to be holding it at an angle, no?

Today I get to sit in the office, lonely, and be jealous of all the coworkers who are taking an early holiday.

@Chippies No, that's straight

3:48 PM
like, your forearm is coming from the right side of the mouse?

@Sterno But that also means you have the chance to get work done, right?

its got buttons

@OrigamiRobot There's Advil right there to help you with the hand pain.

my arm goes to the left of the mouse and the thumb fits just fine between the first 2 thumb button columns

@Frank There's always a chance I'll get work done.

3:49 PM
@Sterno And now you have a better chance!

@Chippies arm angle has nothing to do with hand angle.

Debatable

@OrigamiRobot if your arm goes to right side, it means your wrist has to either adjust for proper mouse holding or hold it wrong

i kind of hold mouse like a crane game claw. palm is no where near it

@Chippies It's just like that for the picture.

3:51 PM
@OrigamiRobot well, in that case I don't really understand why your thumb doesn't reach any further

I switched to vertical mice a year ago. Was a pretty good decision.
Although they are somewhat pricey.
But they are so comfortable.

huh, my wrist also seems angled to the right in the picture

@5pike they are like weird joysticks

@OrigamiRobot okay, I think I came to the conclusion that your thumb is quite short

3:53 PM
@Rapitor Not really. They are awkward at first, but you get used to it quickly.

Manhands are gross

6 minutes until weekend!

@Chippies It looks like your whole hand is angled. Your index finger seems to hang off the edge at the base.

creepy bridge time, lets all post our hands
@OrigamiRobot my hand is angled, to the left

Q: How to farm power points in Dragon Age Inquisition?

linuxfreebirdI made the mistake of opening up new regions to explore by spending 8 power points a piece. Now I just realized that all of my power points are spent and the main quests still require 20 to 40 power points. I have closed all but two rifts in the hinder lands, and only have a few quests available ...

that's the only natural way I can hold the mouse, the shape of the mouse seems to indicate that's how I should hold it

Then we're not even talking about the same thing!

my hand fits naturally in the grooves of the mouse if I have it slightly angled to left

@Frank Have you seen the Gray and Red Zeta MG Kits?

I'm talking about straight on.

3:57 PM
Apparently today is "Post pictures of your mouse" day on the Bridge

@ʞɹɐzǝɹ I don't believe so, no.

12 mins ago, by Origami Robot
If I angle the mouse so that my thumb is on G13, it doesn't hurt

@OrigamiRobot but why are we talking about straight on, if that's not how you hold the mouse?

Because that's how I want to hold it, but it hurts.

@OrigamiRobot but why do you want to hold it that way?
you can't even reach the thumb buttons like that

3:59 PM
I don't even use the thumb buttons.

then why do you even have a G600?

@Chippies So that when my hand is straight, my mouse is straight.
@Chippies BECAUSE IT'S THE ONLY THING WIDE ENOUGH TO NOT HURT TO USE

@OrigamiRobot I have never held a mouse completely straight

AAAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH

I don't think mice are meant to be held completely straight

4:00 PM
GG there's a fibre cable went snap and whole ISP offline to the rest of the world

@OrigamiRobot but you said it hurts :P

It hurts the least.

@OrigamiRobot I suggest you invest in a vertical mouse.

@OrigamiRobot there are bigger mice than G600

Or at least look at them.

4:01 PM
@AshleyNunn uses some Microsoft mouse that's giant

@3ventic Fun times.

@Chippies Sold in stores?

@3ventic oh joy
That can take a while

If I can't put my hand on it before I buy it, it's pointless.

@OrigamiRobot online stores, yeah
I'd assume you can find them in a store
but they are kinda rare

4:02 PM
@5pike Show me

@Frank They look pretty cool. Gray is on preorder now, Red is Dec/Feb.

I wish there was a G600-mini, with the same amount of buttons, but smaller physical shape
but I guess that can't be done in decent way

The G600 at least has the shift button that I can rest my pinky on so it has some support no matter what.

Q: How does one obtain Inquisition Points in Dragon Age Inquisition?

linuxfreebirdI noticed in the Dragon Age Inquisition war table there are options to purchase (what I think are called) party abilities which cost Inquisition Points, however I am at a loss on where these points come from. How does one obtain Inquisition Points in Dragon Age Inquisition? Does there exist pos...

@OrigamiRobot how the hell do you rest your pinky on the ring finger button? :O

4:04 PM
Ring finger is for right click.

unless you mean on the side of it

@OrigamiRobot that's just... no...

Middle finger is for scroll.

no wonder your hands hurt

4:04 PM
What are you, a caveman?

@OrigamiRobot how often do you scroll and left click at same time?

I agree with @OrigamiRobot, what kind of weirdo caveman are you @Chippies?

Often enough to not want to move my fingers every time.

@KevinvanderVelden The kind that uses his mouse in a way that doesn't hurt his hand.
@OrigamiRobot do you ever use scroll wheel left and scroll wheel right?

Yes, for copy/paste

4:06 PM
@Chippies my hand doesn't hurt either

@OrigamiRobot and you do that with your middle finger?

you are horrible

If I used my middle finger for right click, no mouse would ever be big enough

@OrigamiRobot what, where did you even get that idea? why would you even think about doing that? what?
is your index finger dead and you can't use it that you have to shift all fingers to left?
@OrigamiRobot edits are cheating, ok

4:09 PM
I think the most common thing is pinky on desk, ring finger on pinky, other fingers on mouse

even putting my hand on the mouse for a second, the way you describe it, hurts

What is the second way I describe?

@OrigamiRobot re-read it
I guess some commas might help? idk
yes, that's better

2 mins ago, by Chippies
@OrigamiRobot edits are cheating, ok

@OrigamiRobot IT MADE SENSE BEFORE EDITS, K
at least to me

4:12 PM
Look, one finger per button. It's perfect. Why do you hate freedom?

@OrigamiRobot comfort > forced freedom

@ʞɹɐzǝɹ Zeta's not one I'm familiar with.

How is that more comfortable?

@OrigamiRobot you're the one complaining about hurting

If I did that, half my hand would be hanging off the edge

4:13 PM
as it should

40 secs ago, by Origami Robot
How is that more comfortable?

42 secs ago, by Chippies
@OrigamiRobot you're the one complaining about hurting

Then my hand would look like a mangled mess.
I'm saying your way would hurt more.

I have never complained about my hand hurting the way I hold it

my middle finger is on right click duty

4:14 PM
you, on the other hand (pun?), are

I don't understand how your hand can be in that shape and not hurt

@OrigamiRobot it's in a resting position, fits all the grooves in the mouse
if I put my hand on the mouse in a resting position, that's exactly how it goes on it

You have a whole metacarpal just free floating!
It's like sitting with half your butt off the seat.

@OrigamiRobot except your hand isn't a butt and your mouse isn't a seat
2

@Frank those two are from Evolve I believe

4:16 PM
and your hand is still on the desk/mousepad

1 min ago, by Origami Robot
You have a whole metacarpal just free floating!

your analogy would be more applicable if you said it's like sitting with half of your butt on the chair and the other half on another chair, with both chairs put next to each other

@Chippies and, depending on the chair design, this is sometimes more comfortable

Hm. The way I hold a mouse, the tip of my thumb and the tip of my pinky are the only things touching the desk. The ring finger is just barely off the right click button, and I use my middle finger for both middle and right click.
Oh I guess the heel of my palm is on the desk too.
And my entire forearm, of course.

And your feet, obviously.

4:19 PM
What do my feet have to do with it?

anything past my wrist is off the desk
including the actual wrist itself

My arm up to my elbow is typically on my desk.

the bottom of my palm is usually on the edge of the desk

With my elbow itself hanging off.

I mash everything with my fists and hope

4:21 PM

4 mins ago, by Origami Robot
1 min ago, by Origami Robot
You have a whole metacarpal just free floating!

@OrigamiRobot gives freedom to move the mouse without moving my hand

Oh weird. I never paid attention before, but I use my pointer finger for middle clicking but my middle finger for the scroll wheel.

I can do that anyway!

I use my pinky to grip the mouse
pinky and thumb grips the mouse
if your pinky is on top of the mouse, you can't move the mouse without pushing it with your palm

4:23 PM

I don't use my thumb to grip anything

My mouse doesn't move at all relative to my hand, motion is mostly from the elbow.

My thumb could be out to the side for all I care.

@Rapitor fingertip is the best

@Chippies yes it is

4:23 PM
@OrigamiRobot so, you just push the mouse around with your palm?

No
I use my fingertips.

how do you even move the mouse without gripping it with any of the fingers?
@OrigamiRobot how do you push it up/forward?

36 secs ago, by Origami Robot
I use my fingertips.

@OrigamiRobot does that include the thumb?

No
My index and ring fingers are doing most of the push/pulling

4:26 PM
@OrigamiRobot how do you push with those fingers, when the mouse is tilted downwards in that direction?

I can't even make sense of that question.

especially when your palm is resting on the mouse
I can't make sense of how you move your mouse

Friction is a thing

i'm all self conscious about how i am holding/using my mouse now, thanks jerks

@OrigamiRobot is your mouse sticky? you should clean it

4:28 PM
@Chippies Are your fingers silky smooth?

@OrigamiRobot G600 has hydrophobic coating and it's pretty smooth

I said fingers

unless I press down on it, I can't push it forward with my index and ring fingers
and if I push down, I press the buttons

You don't push down

I wish my shitty phone took videos in anything other than 3gp, converting is so annoying

4:32 PM
phones the RSPCA

@Chippies "Good little mouse"

Gamestop is taking advantage of Cubic Ninja; used copies are priced at $40.

@Frank supply/demand, makes sense

@Chippies NSFW

@Rapitor depends on where you work, I guess

4:35 PM
@Chippies Hot hand-on-mouse action

@Batophobia is that... a work place? If so, where do I apply?
I'll send in that video as my resume

@OrigamiRobot Oh, excuse me, I was driving home. Just a second...

@Chippies That video is a pretty good submission for interview

@OrigamiRobot I use this mouse at work Evolution 4

4:37 PM
@OrigamiRobot the video works, yea
It sent my mind straight to the gutter

:o

> It's possible, and probably likely, that Nintendo will work to close the exploit in a future firmware update.

> Lighted Evoluent logo
Best feature

> probably likely

@OrigamiRobot Yeah... IDK why they even bother with that.

4:39 PM
@OrigamiRobot I don't know what to say, except that I'm sure you're missing out on speed and accuracy by eliminating thumb and pinky from the gripping process

PROBABLY IS NOT A WORD THAT IS NEEDED, THERE

@Sterno well he doesn't KNOW if it is LIKELY or just POSSIBLE

I can move my mouse almost as fast and precise with just my thumb and pinky as I can with all my fingers together

but he THINKS it is more LIKELY than POSSIBLE

thumb and pinky are the backbone of mouse movements

Q: Where do I my buy second mount for journeyman Pandaran?

jeramie brimmerI need to find out where I can buy a better mount for my Pandaran Monk. I just got journeyman riding for 50 gold. I have first mount for apprentice but not the next highest

@Sterno Probably. But that just means you don't update your 3DS.

or at least I THINK
MAYBE

@badp He should shut his pie hole if he can't add meaningful analysis!

It's maybe probably likely.

@Chippies I can do that with just the fingers I use.

4:41 PM
@OrigamiRobot If the evolution is to expensive, you can try this one - Anker mouse. I use the wired one at home. Not as comfortable as the Evolution, but much cheaper.

I mean, it stands to reason.
It's reasonably maybe probably likely.

@OrigamiRobot I just don't see it being failsafe enough to be on par with a more common gripping technique

I mean, Nintendo has the appearance of giving a shit about this kind of stuff.
It's apparently reasonably maybe probably likely.

if I do it and my fingers get sweaty and I really try, I can move my mouse with just the index and ring finger, but it's very likely to lose grip, especially if I try to move the mouse fast

... what?

4:42 PM
@badp They've already removed the game from the eShop.

and clicking while moving doesn't seem to be an option

@Chippies so much out of context potential ruined by the word "mouse"

@Sterno Your plans have been foiled, Sir!

When I actually move my mouse, I use all my fingers.

@Frank Well that's what it seems like, it might also be a technical snafu!
It's seemingly apparently reasonably maybe probably likely.

4:44 PM
And @badp is going overboard on the wodgy words. Got it.

My point is that most of the work is being done by my index/ring fingers.
I don't actually hold my thumb and pinky out like that.

When I move my mouse, I use all my fingers more or less equally
but I can't use just the index and middle finger, but I can use just the thumb and pinky
2
the ring finger is useless

Keep in mind my dpi is 3000 so I need very little actual movement to get around.

@Frank It's like zelda bosses, you have to hit it three times to ascertain you've figured it out
It's certainly seemingly apparently reasonably maybe probably likely.

@OrigamiRobot Your mom makes very little actual movement, and gets around

4:46 PM
Hey guys, is Origami bad at FPS games?

@fredley Your face is immovably certainly seemingly apparently reasonably maybe probably likely.

@Chippies I dunno about FPS, but he's pretty decent at Monster Hunter.

@Frank that doesn't require holding mouse properly and being accurate though

@Chippies robots are pretty good at fps.. they have aimbots

@Rapitor this one's made of paper, I don't know if he has aimbots...

4:48 PM
@Rapitor clearly Origami should just stick a finger in the USB port already and be done with it

Cursed Eye is the worst item

@3ventic You have to be careful not to be hit while charging your shot

@badp maybe he's already doing it and the mouse is just to throw us off

Tears up help. If your tear frequency increases the charging time goes down.

I like how it's beyond your comprehension that the way I have been using a mouse all my life makes my method just as accurate and precise as yours.

4:49 PM
@OrigamiRobot It's more like, how you describe it, not necessarily how you use it.
I don't know how you use it, besides how you described it

It's frequently immovably certainly seemingly apparently reasonably maybe probably likely.

but anyways, I'm glad it works for you, too bad it hurts though

How long before we section @badp?

None of that has anything to do with why it hurts.

@fredley It might take a while, you probably want to be patient.
It's patiently frequently immovably certainly seemingly apparently reasonably maybe probably likely.

4:51 PM
@badp literally

36 mins ago, by Origami Robot
I don't understand how your hand can be in that shape and not hurt
it has something to do with why it hurts, according to you

sigh No
My whole hand doesn't hurt.
It has nothing to do with movement.
It has everything to do with the rightmost metacarpal hanging off an edge when resting.

Protip: if your hand is in pain, do not ignore the pain. Stop using the mouse or keyboard and rest.

@badp And get something ergonomic

@OrigamiRobot the way you move the mouse has to do with how you hold it

4:53 PM
@5pike but for here and now, rest.

@badp Yes

otherwise we wouldn't have got to where we are now

I can't hold the mouse in a way to make it wider!

@Chippies I seem to remember @origamirobot getting caught by guards when trying to enter the bathroom a lot

Did anybody try out my RSI method?

Q: Download PSN games externally

PanomoshI have very slow internet at home which makes updating games a nightmare. for example, a 2GB update for Destiny has recently come out, and since you have to be online to play the game I cannot play it again until I download this update. This will probably take a full day for me as I get about 2...

Can't remember who I told about it
Anyway, it cured my RSI with 0 money spent on ergonomic stuff/therapy, and I still use my computer slouched over.
LIVING THE DREAM

@Chippies The only reason we got to where we are now is because I was saying that your finger placement would make even more of my hand hang which would lead to more pain.
