That's what she said...?

So Unicorns are on topic?

They are now.

brb, getting some unicorn pics
What about alicorns?

Of course.
All *corns are on-topic.

Oh jesus. Now might be the time to put pants on and grab lunch

5:01 PM

I had sushi yesterday, and it was great.

Man, I want Sushi.
I should get sushi on friday.

Stupid gifs slowing down my jokes

5:03 PM
Welcome @ManishEarth. Do you desire some corn?

uh oh

Don't answer that.

@OrigamiRobot Well shit, nicely played sir.

@OrigamiRobot I...
wtf

5:05 PM

...

Ok, can we start hiding pictures behind text now?
It's getting a little out of hand.

MODS ARE ASLEEP, POST CORN
5

5:07 PM
I'm done now.

@OrigamiRobot I GET IT
UNI-CORN

@OrigamiRobot MODS ARE POSTING CORN. NOW WHAT?

@ManishEarth You should be helping clean it up, not encouraging them!

5:09 PM
@GnomeSlice Clever girl.

I apologize for the hell I've unleashed.
3

@Sterno It's your friends fault, really.

Now, seriously, can we start hiding the pictures behind text?

5:10 PM
Yes, I'm the fun police.

@OrigamiRobot That would make a great new gravatar for @fbueckert.

Got the badge and everything to prove it.
Here, burn this:

A: Why is my Mega Stone not in the location it should be?

user57914ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj

I could see @GnomeSlice as a Princess.
@fbueckert It isn't dead yet.
IT needs to hurry up and die.

@Wipqozn I've done my part.

5:12 PM
As have I.

Now it's up to one of our blues/20K users to validate the flags and delete it.

I blame everyone who either didn't flag it or used a different flag than the one I used.

Oh, you goose.
Just flag that stuff as offensive. It'll auto-delete. Either that or spam.
Mods and 20kers shouldn't need to waste their time on this garbage.

5:14 PM

Q: How can I connect a rooftop with ground?

UoooI would like to build a garage which is under the ground. Like this: However, I am not able to connect the ground (on the right) with the rooftop of the garage (left). Is this possible and if so, how can I do it? Ideally, I would like to paint the rooftop of the garage with grass, but I would...

Corn princess?

@Wipqozn Well, technically, it's neither offensive or spam.

@fbueckert It's definitely spam.

Technically, no, but we can use those flags for flagging complete non-sense.
There's metas about it somewhere on our meta.

5:15 PM
3 mins ago, by Wipqozn
I could see @GnomeSlice as a Princess.

@Unionhawk Yeah, I got it.

Just checking.

Thanks =]

Wow. Our city mayor is attempting to whitewash some pretty skeezy actions that look quite a bit like corruption.

@fbueckert Note to self. Don't Google 'skeezy' at work.
First result

5:18 PM
...

I don't think that word means what you think it means
Actually, maybe it does

Can we burn some spam answers that don't really help at all?

good advice...?

3rd result seems like it

1, 2, 3
No attempt has been made by the user to limit his guide to answering the question. Might as well just delete it.

Q: How can I put bullets in a magazine

PhilippI picked up some bullets and I have a half-empty magazine. How can I put the bullets in it?

@fbueckert Just flag them.

I didn't think we deleted bad answers. We downvote them.

@Sterno There's no reason to keep them at all. They fit the definition of spam pretty handily.

@fbueckert So does the one you just said wasn't spam

@fbueckert I only looked at #3, but I disagree it counts as spam

5:22 PM
@Sterno All three of them are exactly the same post

It's not linking back to a site, product, or service
Or I missed it

@Sterno So, the exact same answer, copied across multiple answers, doesn't count as spam?
And we've deleted several other questions of his where he attempts to post his guide.

@fbueckert Sure. Why would it?

@GnomeSlice Is he even seeing those messages? <_<

I could see flagging it as "not an answer" if it isn't one.

5:24 PM
@Fluttershy Sterno? Presumably.
@Sterno Hi.

But if the objection is "You've got the answer in here, plus extra crap" that seems like downvote territory to me, and whether or not it appears elsewhere seems irrelevant.

@Sterno Because no attempt at all has been made to actually answer the question. It might do so in passing, but is buried in the wall of text in his attempt to paste his guide far and wide.

@GnomeSlice Hi

@Fluttershy Yes, he is.

@Fluttershy If he's replying to me, nope.

5:24 PM
@fbueckert Look at the transcript before you talk about me.

@fbueckert It's so nice to disagree with you again. All is right with the world!

@GnomeSlice You weren't replying to @Sterno. And I can't reply to the messages in general.

That said, I don't care enough about this issue to continue.

@Fluttershy Yes I was.

@Sterno Oh, good. We're on opposite sides again.

5:25 PM
@GnomeSlice You responded to @fbueckert multiple times. That's what @Fluttershy is referring to.

@Wipqozn Okay.

@Wipqozn Thank you, you scholar and gentleman.

@Unionhawk Dunno that anyone over there goes over to that there but there is a possibility that there is.

If we actually want to keep those answers, I'm going to take massive shears to them, and cut out 95% of the stuff that doesn't apply.

I'd just leave them alone to be honest.
Just downvote.
The user has been tld on every answer to trim them, but refuses to. Doing ti for him isn't really going to teach him anything.

5:27 PM
Plus, that's not really the proper use of edit.

I understand why the answers come off spamish to you, but they don't advertise a product or anything.
Personally I'd be fine with 20k users deleting them.

ohh dear, I agree with @fbueckert

@Wipqozn And that's what I would prefer.

I'd rather you delete them than edit them, if it came to that.

But if they stick around, I'm not letting that much dense text stick around for no other reason than the user refuses to edit them properly.

5:27 PM
But I don't think we need to be all freaked out about answers with 5 downvotes existing and destroying the quality of the site because they weren't deleted.
2

I don't imagine that in the current we're freaked out.

My son is currently freaking out, if that helps.

@kalina Yea, but earlier he seduced you with suits and legs. You're not in your right mind.

@Sterno It's not so much freaked out as, the user has had several months to fix it, he hasn't, burn it.

@TimStone I imagine he has more sane things to be freaked out about than this.

5:29 PM
@fbueckert I agree, but I don't think spam flags are the way to do it.

@fbueckert My issue is with the idea that downvotes are an insufficient means to handle an answer that has not been edited to your tastes.

But like I said, I'm all for 20k users deleting crap answers with very low scores which the OP has shown no desire to fix.

@GraceNote I'm not entirely sure what's wrong at the moment, so it could very well be this...he is sitting here with a good vantage of chat.

Provided they are old enough anywyas.

But sure, if 20kers want to go nuke it, fine

5:30 PM
@Wipqozn 285 to go

I mostly agree with @Wipqozn

FAE
@TimStone Incidentally, belated congrats on successful reproduction!

@Sterno Excellent.

@Sterno In the short term, they're great. They're there as an indicator of quality. But I don't see why we would WANT to keep crap answers.

@FAE Thank you! \o/

5:30 PM
If the downvotes don't induce the user to shape up their contributions, then it should just be nuked after a certain period of time.

Don't tell his mom but I'm about to order him a Mass Effect onesie from the BioWare store.

@fbueckert I don't think that's how it works.

FAE
@TimStone I was just about to ask if you had any ME stuff for him yet.

:D

Related, and with a complete lack of consensus:

Q: Should an answer be deleted if it is unquestionably wrong?

IQAndreasAlmost everything in the answer to this question is just entirely wrong (and yet it still doesn't seem to be downvoted fast enough, as it was still at +1 before I came along): http://gaming.stackexchange.com/a/101813/17179 The answer isn't out of date, or an untested guess, it is simply wrong. ...

@fbueckert If that's really the case, SE should just make a feature that auto-deletes everything with a specific negative score or worse after a given time period.

5:32 PM
@Sterno I believe unanswered questions get hit with that cleanup, actually.

@fbueckert They do.

@fbueckert We're not talking about unanswered questions.

@Sterno I know we're not.

Oh, you're saying they've got the feature for that, so they might as well make a feature for answers too

I'm pointing out that that downvotes have multiple purposes; an indicator of quality, and hopefully an incentive for the poster to conform to site standards.

5:34 PM
Where the heck is bure? I need to build a fort on you.

If neither of those purposes are reliable to get quality content from a user, I see no reason not to burn it out of existence, after a reasonable amount of time has been given to give them a chance.

Oh, there it is

And this user is not posting that answer in anything approaching good faith.

Damn, should I build the trade buildings or the military buildings? I can only have one type per provicne, and I mine as well just stick with one per trade zone.

@fbueckert Fundamentally, most of the differences in our opinions about this site seem to come down to how hands-on we think we should be.

5:37 PM
We have a voting system for deletion. That's how I figure it goes. If an answer is low voted and folk don't like seeing it, then it goes away. If it's only one or two vocal users, it sticks around even if negative.

@Sterno I'm all about getting into the dirt and cleaning up the crap.

@fbueckert except with tags, and tag wikis, and community consensus, and... well

Those trade buildings would help counter portugals trade domination, but those military bonuses would make my armry much, much larger. That would be quite nice if I wish to eventually take over France, or least some of it.

SHOTS FIRED

@kalina Tag wikis confuse me.

5:38 PM
@fbueckert long answers where the answer asked for isn't immediately obvious confuse you

FAE
@fbueckert Completely off-topic to the discussion at hand, this is tempting.

@kalina No, actually, I love long answers. It's my basic criteria for checking answers from 1-rep users.
In this, specific, case, though, I want them gone.

make them gone then
they're your delete votes
if everybody agrees with you, more votes will follow

Not until he has 20k, they're not.

I have no delete votes left though so while I agree they need to go I can't take action to that effect
right, keep @fbueckert below 20k, got it
I have no votes left either, so you're going to have to do that too

5:40 PM
@kalina At this rate, it will take me well over another year to get that.

@fbueckert want to swap accounts for a bit? I can grind your rep and you can abuse my delete votes?

> Deleting answers
When should I vote to delete an answer?
You may vote to delete answers in the following cases:

The answer is extremely low quality: There is little to no scope for improvement
The answer doesn't answer the question; it may be a comment or a separate question altogether.
The answer is not much more than a link to another page. Link only answers are not allowed on Stack Exchange
I'm assuming the argument is that this falls under "extremely low quality"

@Sterno Very much so.

I didn't realize link-only answers made it into the FAQ
that makes me happy

actually, it falls under "doesn't directly answer the question"
with that word directly added

5:41 PM
@kalina I was about to say...

they're obviously not low quality
they've got a lot of content in them

but copying and pasting a wiki page to answer a bunch of questions does not attempt to actually answer the question

@GnomeSlice The internet.
That's wtf

@GnomeSlice flagged as offensive
(I didn't flag it.)

5:42 PM
@kalina It is offensive.

you posted it, not me

The Truth About Sexism, Via Google Autocomplete http://adage.com/u/w3iQ5a

I'm just hinting that if somebody flags it, I'll see you in 30

@kalina I am not offensive. The fact that it exists is offensive.

FAE
@GnomeSlice I heard about this ad campaign, it's pretty interesting.

5:43 PM
@GnomeSlice You really haven't figured out yet how flag validation works, have you?

@Sterno What flag?
@Sterno Presumably people in here can see the context and won't flag it.

@GnomeSlice If it got flagged. They wouldn't see any context or you saying "WTF". They'd see that you posted it, and quite likely validate the flag.
@GnomeSlice You haven't figured out there's a flag troll in here yet, have you?

@FAE If you like the latest Final Fantasy games, it's a pretty easy way to be able to play the latest one.

@Sterno What?

@GnomeSlice Here's where I say again, this is around the point that I seriously ask, why is this even being brought up in here? Like, what remote vestige of relevance is it?

5:44 PM
While allowing me to get some revenge on @Fluttershy at the same time.

@GraceNote Relevance to what?

@GnomeSlice There is someone in The Bridge who likes to flag things that will get people banned when there is no context around it. This person seems to particularly like doing it to you.

@GnomeSlice Anything

FAE
@fbueckert I haven't finished XIII because I got kinda mad at it.
@fbueckert Revenge for what?

@GnomeSlice The first one will get you banned if somebody decides to flag it - I know it's not your intention, I know you don't mean it like that - the second one is how you should have bought the subject up

5:45 PM
@GraceNote Does everything in here have to be relevant to the current discussion?

@FAE He doesn't like those games, either.

I'm just trying to help

@GnomeSlice It needn't be the current discussion but there's still boundaries of relevance to what people talk about in places.

So it's me being malicious in patented Frank fashion.

@GraceNote I don't understand.

5:46 PM
Yeah, like ponies. Ponies have no relevance here.
:)

ponies are relevant everywhere

@GnomeSlice @GraceNote is saying that potentially touchy subjects are better not discussed here.

@kalina your FACE is relevant everywhere. OOO

I wasn't intending to start a discussion, sorry.

5:46 PM
@Unionhawk I know it is, I'm so awesome

@BenBrocka I have never been able to grasp the meaning of 'pyramid scheme'

@GnomeSlice We're a group of gamers with various shared and unshared interests. But there are some things that we may speak of elsewhere that we have no reason to bring up here.

@GraceNote Ponies Corn?

cornies

@BenBrocka ...Porn?

5:48 PM
@GnomeSlice It's a business where you make money by getting people to do the same thing as you.

ponies are on topic in the bridge, there is no

@GnomeSlice For what it's worth, everyone does it, not just you. We discuss all sorts of stuff in here that we probably would be best not to. You just seem to get flagged more, and often are more likely to unintentionally start conversations in a way that are less politically correct

@GnomeSlice There's also the matter of appropriateness, touchiness, and similar.
@Sterno To wit, the sentence I initiated this whole thing with, I shot at @Blem first.

room topic changed to The Bridge: General gaming chat room, wherein everything is fireproof and LAZERS are the new fire. [-fire] [-fun] [history-repeats] [jin-fanclub] [lazers] [-ponies] [-videogames]

@Ullallulloo Example?

5:48 PM
@Sterno this is my point, I wasn't trying to be unfair, I was just making sure he was covered in the event of getting flagged

@GraceNote I remember that one. That one was way, way worse though.

@fbueckert you still can't stop me talking about ponies, you're vastly out numbered by pony lovers

@Sterno It was, no doubt about it. Very different tiers of inappropriateness.

@kalina Nope! But I can definitely work with the joke that ponies are were on-topic.

And there have been times we've had perfectly civil, unflagged conversations about things that should never have been brought up.

5:49 PM
@GnomeSlice Essentially you start by getting paid to do something, but then get told that if you get 10 other people to do what you were doing instead you get more money. So eventually everyone is working for one person, hence the pyramid.

@fbueckert well, you've taken all the fun out of the bridge
this is disgraceful

@kalina Someone already did -fun.

I hope you're wearing a suit otherwise all of this is not ok.

@RonanForman Huh. Isn't that how most companies work?

And it wasn't me.

5:50 PM
That said, charging into a room to just blurt out something that you know is solely offensive, that you know people in the room will comprehend the item as offensive, and while they may know that you're not posting it to be offensive, the fact remains that it's just not the kind of thing one does.

@kalina A suit at work? Nope.

Then this action is obvious prejudice against me

@GnomeSlice You pay $100 for licenses to sell licenses, and make $10 on each person you sell it to.

...and my bronies
anyway, I need to watch a movie
I don't need to
I want to watch a movie
I don't know which movie yet either

So, if you get ten people selling licenses, then you make your money back from the one you bought, but then they have to sell it to ten more people each to make their money back.

5:51 PM
@kalina Something without ponies.

oh yeah it won't have ponies in it

@GnomeSlice No, because you earn money for making a product, not for getting people to do it.
Essentially a pyramid scheme has no bottom layer.

I have Pacific Rim to watch

but the idea of giant robots fighting doesn't really appeal to me

5:52 PM
@GnomeSlice When you post something here, you should expect that people are going to discuss it. There's been a few times where you've posted something and then a discussion follows which just winds up getting you upset/angry. It might be a good idea when you post things in the future to ask yourself "Do I really want to get into a discussion over this?"

@kalina Yeeeeeeeeeessssss!

@kalina Voice of GLaDOS!

@Sterno I've seen it. Didn't understand it.

I have Kick Ass to watch

And an honest to goodness rocket punch.

5:52 PM
but that looks like it's going to be brain damaged packaged up as a movie

@kalina It's got a lot more to it than that. You should watch it.

The whole movie is essentially a tribute to geek fantasy.

@fbueckert GLaDOS
seriously

Y'all'll soon run out of people to sell to, meaning that your basically get paid to annoy your friends and get them to make bad financial decisions.
While only the company actually makes money.

Basically, there's two things to consider - relevance and appropriateness. If something strikes out on both accounts then there's really no reason to post it. For the large part, anything that strikes out on the latter shouldn't be posted anyway. Especially topics that are defined by their appropriateness.

5:53 PM
@kalina Good to know.

Usually there's a higher profit margin than that though, so it sounds really tempting.

@fbueckert Ellen whatsherface?

@kalina I don't know if it's actually her, but it bloody sounds like her.

@fbueckert It is. 99% sure.

5:56 PM
the other 1% is for in case @kalina proves me wrong somehow.

@kalina There you go. Yes, it's her.

The fact that the voice of GLaDOS was in Pacific Rim had exactly zero bearing on the quality of the film, for me.

it still just looks like a film full of fighting robots
and all I have to say to that is... meh
Now You See Me!

@kalina You should watch it. There's more to it than that.

I have that to watch too

5:57 PM
Characters and feels and shit

Note to self, dress fighting robots in suits for my next film.

@kalina Yeah, that's essentially what it is.
Would you watch fighting robots dressed in suits?

I'm going to watch Now You See Me instead
because... jesse eisenberg

@kalina The female lead in that movie is a cutie :3

5:58 PM
@kalina I'm dying to see that. I'd be interested to know what you think of it.

@Coronus well, like all these guys dribbling over fighting robots, this movie will be great just because it has jesse eisenberg in it

@kalina drooling*
Guys like giant robots fighting.
It's like the easiest way to get us to pay attention to something.

@fbueckert suits have to fit right

@fbueckert Boobs.

5:59 PM
but robots, not a big deal for me
