@GraceNote I also liked Zoids

@OrigamiRobot I watched a random episode once on Cartoon Network. That's about all I can say for the series so I can't say anything positive or negative on it.

Rear Window is a 1954 American suspense film directed by Alfred Hitchcock, written by John Michael Hayes and based on Cornell Woolrich's 1942 short story "It Had to Be Murder". Originally released by Paramount Pictures, the film stars James Stewart, Grace Kelly, Wendell Corey, and Thelma Ritter. The film is considered by many filmgoers, critics and scholars to be one of Hitchcock's best. The film received four Academy Award nominations and was ranked #42 on AFI's 100 Years…100 Movies list and #48 on the 10th-anniversary edition. In 1997, Rear Window was added to the United States Nationa...

I really wanted someone to make an Armored Core style Zoids game.

@ArdaXi I'm not sure how those two clauses interact with each other, but I'm hoping it's good for you, however it resolves!
@OrigamiRobot Hum. I don't know if Another Century's Episode has included Zoids.
(ACE is basically Armored Core but using a cross over of dozens of mecha anime)

@GraceNote I guess I'm just afraid of asking really simplistic questions on an expert SE. That I'm interested in cryptography doesn't mean I have any kind of good basis in it.

3:04 PM
@ArdaXi Then become a lurker. Keep an eye on things to see what happens on the site. Seep in the knowledge that leaks from their question base. Shoot burrowing underground spines at anyone who tries to approach you.

So I'm kinda afraid of my question being the equivalent of "How do I solve ax^2+bx+c" on Mathematics.

@ArdaXi Even though that equation is so well defined, that would still be a good question on Mathematics. It would drive traffic to the site and they would be able to give it a really good answer.

@ArdaXi A quick glance through what's on Security's homepage right now. Half of it seems like expert level question with appropriate jargon and all, and the rest seems pretty mundane
Most of the question are about implementation rather than theory

@StrixVaria They could also say "Why are you coming here if you haven't even a high-school basis in maths?"
Which is kind of the atmosphere I've sensed coming from Maths.SE anyway.

@YiJiang Crypto

3:07 PM
Blah, excuse me...

Why is Crypto separate from Security anyway?

Ah, that's more like it.

Q: How are primes generated for RSA?

Vilx-As I understand it, the RSA algorithm is based on finding two large primes (p and q) and multiplying them. The security aspect is based on the fact that it's difficult to factor it back into p and q. Now, since RSA keys are so large (often 1024 bits and above), the primes have to be at least half...

Hey, look, a question I might actually be able to understand without looking up the terms on Wikipedia

This is on the front-page right now.

3:08 PM
@ArdaXi Security asks this now and then.

Personally I'd keep the two merged, given that Security doesn't seem that awfully big.
To me, it seems like Crypto is just the overlap of Maths and Security really.

Q: Tips and techniques to enhance aiming abilities

Federico ZancanIn Battlefield 3 (as I guess also in other FPSes) one of the most difficult things to do (at least to me) is aiming correctly when unexpectedly encountering enemies. I mean, I can even react quickly on a sudden enemy encounter, but often I realize that within the kill-or-be-killed frenzy in that...

dammit...somebody I will be mature enough not to giggle at "maths"

@IanPugsley It is the right way to spell it, you know.

@ArdaXi Not in American English.

3:15 PM
@ArdaXi I make no claim in either direction, I merely find "maths" funny-sounding

It's "math" here.

@StrixVaria Can you tell I'm a little English elitist?

@ArdaXi I'm American English elitist.

@ArdaXi why is "English" in this sentence? :P

@ArdaXi Do you also spell armor and color with Us?

3:16 PM
@StrixVaria Aye.

Pfft, Mathematics

@IanPugsley Because I was trying to be specific. It's not exclusively English, of course.

That reminds me, would it be a good idea to ask a question about why the world generated in DF doesn't happen to have poles

<patriot>Stupid Brits bastardize our language!</patriot>

@StrixVaria Bastardise

3:20 PM
@StrixVaria heehee nationalism

@ArdaXi ಠ_ಠ

@IanPugsley Well, there's only been a country to be nationalistic about for a few hundred years, I guess you guys have to make up your lag. ;-)

@ArdaXi I always liked the "ou" versions of words, but I don't like using s instead of z

@OrigamiRobot Luckily, both are allowed in English.
In fact, OED prefers the -ize spelling.

@OrigamiRobot Same here, actually
I also say Maths all the time (nowadays, at least), but only because it sounds funny.

3:21 PM
But I will never take "maths" seriously

@ArdaXi Seriously, though, it's a Z sound. Not an S sound. I know that phonetics in English are about as important as having a refrigerator in the arctic, but still.

I only ever heard it called that thanks to someone in here posting a "Look Around You" segment.

@StrixVaria Maybe for you...

Yes, that would be the segment, I imagine

No one-boxing?

3:22 PM
@ArdaXi <patriot>You mean them Brits say the words wrong too?</patriot>

@GraceNote ha! I'm not alone!

@StrixVaria I personally don't pronounce -ize with a z sound.

Bastardise with an S sound would be like saying "bastard ice". That's just silly.

@IanPugsley High five!

@StrixVaria Brits also betrayed their own kind by saying aluminium.

3:24 PM
@GraceNote \o immaturity about cultural differences is awesome!

@OrigamiRobot How is that 'betraying your own kind?'
At any rate, the -ize spelling is more correct, if you want to get all etymological about it.

@ArdaXi Humphry Davy named it aluminum.

We consider all Iranian technological achievements as our own achievements.
—North Korea Supreme People's Assembly Chairman Choe Tae-bok

@Raven While I don't disagree with your closure, there's a stir brewing you might want to gander at.

@OrigamiRobot "The International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) adopted aluminium as the standard international name for the element in 1990 but, three years later, recognized aluminum as an acceptable variant. "
The original name was alumium.

3:29 PM
@ArdaXi "Davy settled on aluminum by the time he published his 1812 book Chemical Philosophy" "But the same year, an anonymous contributor to the Quarterly Review, a British political-literary journal, in a review of Davy's book, objected to aluminum and proposed the name aluminium."

@OrigamiRobot Exactly. The guy can't even make up his mind.

So use either alumium or aluminum. Aluminium came out of nowhere.

@OrigamiRobot No, it came out of the Quarterly Review, and was accepted by the IUPAC.

@ArdaXi "Guesstimate" is in the dictionary, but that doesn't make it proper.

@OrigamiRobot No, a dictionary isn't prescriptive, just descriptive. The IUPAC, however, is prescriptive.

3:34 PM
I'm not talking about what is accepted. I am talking about the betrayal of Humphry Davy at the hands of his own people.

The IUPAC isn't British is it?

@ArdaXi Aluminium came from a British journal. By an "anonymous contributor". I'm sorry, but I'm going to go with what the man who invented the element called it.

@OrigamiRobot Okay, so call it Alumium then.

@ArdaXi This is acceptable to me. Even though your logic is flawed.

3:38 PM
@OrigamiRobot The best kind of logic.

@ArdaXi Actually the best kind of logic is circular logic. Duh.

@OrigamiRobot Why?

24 secs ago, by OrigamiRobot
@ArdaXi Actually the best kind of logic is circular logic. Duh.

Arda's logic is flawed? That's unpossible!

@ArdaXi It has been proven. By me. 24 seconds ago.

3:39 PM
@NickT I'm not dealing with you.
@OrigamiRobot So I see.
It can, of course, be argued that circular logic falls under flawed logic.

@OrigamiRobot Looks to me like it was 24 secs ago.

I was too lazy to check.

Looks like 32 to me.

Q: Do level 10840 and 11026 specialists give the full effect?

AnnanIn the PSP version of Disgaea, Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness, it is possible to get subdued specialists from Foresights and Tainted Staffs. Broker, Manager, Statistician, Armsmaster at level 10840 and alchemists on the staffs at level 11026. The max level for a Statistician is 300 which will in...

@ArdaXi But the quality of the larger set must include the inferior versions.

3:41 PM

@TheStackExchangeBlog nothing about the Guessing Game? Laaame.

@ArdaXi Actually according to that, it was 18

@ArdaXi I just went on the part that says "24 secs ago", mehself.

@OrigamiRobot Between 16:38:43 and 16:39:25 is 18 seconds?
@GraceNote But the message claiming that was posted 8 seconds later.

@ArdaXi math was never his strong suit
full circle!

3:44 PM
@ArdaXi 16:39:07

@IanPugsley Yaaaay

@ArdaXi I didn't judge by that, I figured I'd just judge by the one numero.

@TheStackExchangeBlog Blog oneboxes broken, hmmm

@YiJiang Already reported

I know

3:47 PM
@ArdaXi Also, according to your inferior logic, this indicates 42 seconds.

@OrigamiRobot Yeah, well..... you're a robot.

@ArdaXi BUUUUUUUURN
Wait.
:(

@StrixVaria It was a compliment.

@OrigamiRobot Yeah, @ArdaXi's just jealous.

@OrigamiRobot Was it? Oh good.

3:56 PM
@Wipqozn He can be a robot too, I know a great robot doctor robot.

user15026
@Tristan GOOD NEWS. PACKAGE FOUND. Going to get it today. :D

Hi

@Mana Top of the morning to you!

user15026
waves Hey Mana :)

Hiiiii @Manaaaaaa~

4:00 PM
Thanks everybody. What's new?

user15026
I found a package, UPS is stupid. :)

@Mana @ArdaXi wants to be a robot.

@OrigamiRobot Since when?

@Mana Artillery shells might be raining down in the future

@GraceNote Neat-o. Are these artillery shells metaphorical or physical?

4:01 PM
@Wipqozn And the rest of the day to yourself.

@ArdaXi I don't know when you started to have these feelings.

@OrigamiRobot I didn't even know I did start.

@Mana Even better. Explosive!

@GraceNote uh. hm.

@Mana So. It has come to this.

4:03 PM
Can I get a time estimate on these artillery shells? I have a midterm at 8....

@ArdaXi It's OK. Soon you wont have feelings to know about.

@Mana I didn't say they'd be raining down on you. That'd be terrible, no?

Did someone say terrible? :D

@Mana You have a midterm at 8pm? Ouch :/
I thought 7pm was late for a midterm.

@Wipqozn c'est la vie

4:07 PM
@Mana So it would seem.

Midterms...I don't miss those

@BenBrocka Did you just recently become a mod? I don't remember your name being blue before...

user15026
I am just glad my midterms are always during class time.

I'm magic

@Wipqozn He's always been a moderator (since a certain point in time), you just never noticed.

4:08 PM
@GraceNote So it would seem.

I became a UX.SE moderator yesterday

When I think maths I think:

user15026
@BenBrocka COngrats :)

MATHS stands for "Mathematical Anti Telharsic Harfatum Septomin"

@AshleyNunn thanks
I was told there would be no MATHS

4:15 PM
@BenBrocka Congrats man! I was really impressed by you guys nailing the wireframe tool partnership.

yeah, that's pretty sweet

@Mana Balsamiq?

shame I haven't needed to use it yet

@GraceNote Yeah, was trying to remember the name.

Look Around You is a British television comedy series devised and written by Robert Popper and Peter Serafinowicz, and, in the first series, narrated by Nigel Lambert. The first series of eight 10-minute shorts was shown in 2002, and the second series of six 30-minute episodes in 2005, both on BBC2. The first series was broadcast on BBC America in early 2005, with a slightly edited version of the second series airing in March 2006. Starting 18 January 2009, the series was aired on Adult Swim in the US (rated TV-PG). The first series of Look Around You was nominated for a BAFTA award in 2...

@NickT This reminds me of David the Gnome

"Water, chemical symbol h-twenty"
"What are birds? We just don't know."

</self-promotion>
Tools for devs who write tools for devs...

@AahleyNunn just in case you aren't getting my messages on steam, I replied to your email.

These videos are like what Aperture Science would produce if it had an educational division

@rlemon That's pretty cool!

4:25 PM
@BenBrocka Hehe, I just have pictures of the cards, no app needed :D

@rlemon Do you know anything about node.js?

@Mana thanks, I plan on eventually making a full cross-browser virtual keyboard

I keep on hearing stuff about it but I have absolutely no clue what I'm supposed to do with it.

@Mana I know about it, haven't much used it (dynamic IP and no host that will support node.js that is affordable for me)
node.js is basically javascript as a server side language by utilizing the V8 parser.
javascript is non-blocking, so instantly that gives the allusion of a faster server. however javascript not being able to deal with anything other than a single thread process you will have your limitations.

@AshleyNunn I just saw your ping. O.o what happened?

4:28 PM
node.js is production ready (imo) however it has quickly become a buzzword and is not recommended in all cases.
like jQuery the masses saw something neat and just dove in not taking into consideration whether it was needed or not.

heh. I tend to be a bit like that. I enjoy messing around with new technologies and trying to make them fit into projects so I have an excuse to learn them.

so if I were you @Mana I would read up a bit on Node.js and maybe try a few of the examples / demos to see if you can do anything with that technology.
@Mana write a chat in Node.js - it's not new, but it's different from the traditional long polling chat you would write in PHP/Ruby/Python/ASP
gives you an indication of the power of a non-blocking server

@rlemon Okay!

that and there are like a bajillion and one examples out there for node chats.

@rlemon Neat.

4:32 PM
How's everyone doing today?

@Tristan Sleepie

@Tristan wishing I was smarter.. :P

Aeo
@Tristan Not too bad. Boss is out of the office at the moment, so headacheless for the time being :P

@James I figured that would work but a simple app would be useful for the more lazy types, and it's hard to get a perfect picture of them with a good white balance on a phone camera

Yay!

4:35 PM
@BenBrocka Only problem I had on my phone was when it would go to sleep on me :D

Q: How does killing senators affect their mood?

Ben BrockaI know killing Senators in Disgaea 4 drops their affinity for you, but how much in absolute terms? Specifically, how many items do I have to give them to make up for killing them once? Will one "Must Have" item do it or does it tick them off more/less than that?

@Lazers I just had to use that title

@BenBrocka One thing I will say is that the AR cards for the PSP are large, larger than my phones size, so I do get the impression I am always zoomed out a bit farther than intended

@Lazers "I know killing Senators in Disgaea 4 drops their affinity for you." I would never have guessed this.

@James Does it treat you like you're more zoomed out? I noticed you have to be quite close to play Fireworks

4:42 PM
@Lazers RIP
3

@BenBrocka I did get the impression I was some times made to launch more than one firework because I could not zoom in close enough.

@Tristan Are you going to be internet compatible this weekend?

4:53 PM
@James don't fireworks launch automatically

@BenBrocka Erm, replace launch with explode :)

Oh, no, sometimes fireworks are just way too close together to not blow them both up in my experience

@OrigamiRobot doubtful.

I hope that's not a dupe.

@BenBrocka Ah, then I was doing good :D
I did find it significantly easier to hold my PS-Vita side wise and almost trying to look at the side of the house though :)

Q: How do I get the Laurel Wreath?

Ashley NunnI am playing All My Gods and in order to progress, I need to acquire the Laurel Wreath so I can then use another obelisk of the gods to open up more space for my civilization to grow into. Problem is, I have no idea how to get the Laurel Wreath. I am not sure if I need more civilization points,...

Q: How do (Just) Frames Work?

GnomeSliceWhile browsing through the move lists for some of the characters, I've noticed some of them have the term (just) in with their button combinations. Q: How can I power level in Disgaea 2?

Ben BrockaOrdeals 4 is the standard power leveling map in Disgaea games, but in Disgaea 2 (Dark Hero Days, the PSP version) the enemy formation is 2x4 instead of 3x3, meaning I can't kill them all in one turn. Is there a better map or some ability that will let me kill everyone on the map in one move? Us...

Hex
@OrigamiRobot I updated my minecraft contraption best I could based on your feedback, thanks for the help :) The comments field was hinting at me that it's bordering on a chat session, heh.

@OrigamiRobot is foul play suspected?

@Hex They do some times start to go that way to try to get to the final answer.. its just generally hard to tell that is the case until its too late :D

5:18 PM
Yay! 1.2 is out, just in time for our LP!

user15026
@Tristan UPS tried to deliver three times without leaving notices for me and then took it to a UPS store who should've called me but the store got labelled as a house so they thought I had the package. I have it, now, though, so it is all good :)

Hehe
@RonanForman My hosting company just informed me I can update my server to 1.2.2 :D

Why do you have a hosting company for minecraft?

@RonanForman Whoops, thought you said Who not Why :) I have a hosting company so multiple people in different locations can get to it and poke it with out me having to deal with my firewall and the like.

Awww, they removed the camera controls. :(

5:30 PM
@BenBrocka Played quite a few of Vita demos last night.. I have to say I am most interested in Katamari's offering so far.. That game always seems so challenging if you havent played it in a while, and then like super easy after you have :D

I love Katamari, I'm avoiding it for now though because I don't want ot get addicted
I'm still missing that absurd trophy in the PS3 katamari game for collecting every single item
out of several thousand unique items

@BenBrocka I saw you have like 1600 PS3 trophies compared to my like, 100 trophies. I do not think missing one is going to be that big of an issue :D

It's that one trophy that keeps me from getting the platinum in that game, thus robbing me of 100% trophies too :/
I've noticed a trend of PS3 games making one $%^$ing absurd trophy that makes the platinum only possible after 400 hours of gameplay
Only Disgaea gets to do that

Q: iMac as PS3 Screen

Samantha CataniaI was considering getting a PS3 and I'm planning to connect it to my 27" iMac(since the screen is so awesome). What is the best way to connect the two? Take into consideration video and sound quality and cost

@BenBrocka that's how most achievements/trophies are
there'll be one big one that's really stupidly hard to get, to prove your dedication

5:38 PM
I just hate when the hardest one is just a giant grind one, even worse if it's some online multiplayer only thing where you have to kill eleven billion people in ranked matches only

@BenBrocka it's worse on the xbox. I think at least in PS world you don't have to get every trophy for platinum. on the xbox, if you want it to show up on your completed list, you need every last one, including DLC

Platinum doesn't include DLC, but you do have to get every trophy from the main game

@agent86 ugh the DLC piece drove me nuts
I didn't bother to 100% Borderlands because as I was like level 48 (out of 50, last achievement I needed), DLC came out

yeah. I have 1250/1500 in Reach because I refused to buy the last map pack
I even bought the first one and did the BS super-hard achievements in there, plus the whole main game
screw you, microsoft.

yeah I definitely don't have that kind of dedication

5:42 PM
I bought the DLC for splinter cell conviction just so I could get 100% on that game

@BenBrocka I ignore most multiplayer trophies/achievements

I even have all 7 vidmaster challenges in halo3/odst. some of those are OMGWTFBBQ hard

Hum

HRm.

@AshleyNunn oh... Just another reason UPS sucks. =P

user15026
5:48 PM
@Tristan aha, yeah, but I am just happy it all worked out in the end :)

@agent86 Wow. I had almost all of them, but I never managed to get Endure

@AshleyNunn me too! If you get stuck, let me know! I love the games so I should be able to help out. =P

@AshleyNunn automated cupcake machine. that is all.

user15026
@Tristan Oh, I will probably ask a ton of questions :D First, though, I gotta wait for my wife to come home because she knows how to hook up the PS2 to the TV, and I don't (I don't want to unplug the wrong stuff)

user15026
@agent86 I need one of those in my house. Right now.

5:51 PM
@murgatroid99 it took a concerted effort. my co-op bud and I were up for it, but we recruited a friend of ours who is so-so at the game, and then my wife actually played the fourth.
one of the levels you can earn a ton of extra credits in the grunt bonus round if you know what you're doing, which made it feasible, but my wife actually did really well, considering she'd played like half an hour of halo her entire life

@agent86 I tried it a couple of times with friends, but we always had to recruit someone else and somebody always lagged out

I made a little pile of those little plasma pistols that take shields out at her feet, and she was softening up brutes for us

@agent86 that's a pretty good idea. We always had problems with the hammer brutes. Some of them took out 3 or 4 of us before dying.

@murgatroid99 yeah, those guys were the worst. I tended to scarf all the fuel rod ammo and hide it from our 4th who tended to just shoot it at grunts :/

@Tristan: Just youtube
> 12:54 PM - nihilistronin: Have you ever watched MLP on the Hub? Or just YouTube?

5:56 PM
@Wipqozn Just checking. Apparently I have the Hub now and was wondering of you'd seen the commercial that turns Katy Perry's California Girls song into Equestria Girls. It made me lol

@agent86 Wonder if they are worth the drive :)

@Tristan I never saw it on the Hub, but I have that video in my YouTube music playlist

Q: How do I clear volcanic crusts?

Ashley NunnI need to clear some volcanic crusts so I can have some more space to build. I know that it is theoretically possible, because when I hover over them, it says "Can be cleared." Normally I would just use the Hand of God, but it doesn't seem to work here, and I can't tell my workers to do anything...

@murgatroid99 I didn't even realize it was on YouTube.

@Tristan Just about everything related to that show is on YouTube

5:58 PM
@IanPugsley thanks but I think I'm actually going to steal 150 GB from my barely used Ubuntu partition anyway

@murgatroid99 Good point

I wonder how many of my mods work in 1.2

@RonanForman None! Muwahahahahaha!

@Tristan Speaking of MLP and YouTube, this video is pretty cool

user15026
@murgatroid99 This is awesome. :D

6:04 PM
Speaking of Katy Perry and Youtube, this song is pretty cool

@AshleyNunn Basically, I have been going through a YouTube playlist of the best MLP fan songs of this past winter

@GnomeSlice I'll have you know that I hit the daily rep cap again, and it was mostly due to my answer to your question

@Ktash That's really funny. Congratulations.

user15026
@murgatroid99 Awesome! :)

Haha, I really will get that tag at this pace lol. Also, that is definitely the most controversial (and maybe the single most voted per day question in a long time)

6:06 PM
I can't figure out how to not get email updates about group discussions on LinkedIN.

@GnomeSlice You can't. It's really annoying

@Ktash Wh... really? :/

They send no matter what. It's basically advertising so no

> I still find it hilarious that fighting game developers need to find reasons for the characters to fight. Both porn and UFC have already learned that you don't really need justification. Just give people what they already want to see.

I have a filter for them in gmail to send them to archive immediately

6:07 PM
Everyone should upvote that comment.
@Ktash That's just silly.
Also, holy shit this song is good.

Why the hell does microsoft not think my credit card is valid!? Arg.. Rage!!!

@StrixVaria Also, great answer on the j frame question, thanks. =]

@GnomeSlice Yeah, it's really annoying
By the way, is there a keyboard shortcut to respond to a chat message?

@Ktash If there is one its not tab.. that one gets me jumping around web pages every time I hit it by mistake :)

I forgot: how much rep gain do you get from receiving one upvote, and how much do you lose from receiving a downvote?

6:10 PM
+5/-2
Also, looks like there isn't any by default

+5 on questions +10 on answers.

but they do have an extension for it stackapps.com/questions/2567/official-keyboard-shortcuts
@RonanForman Oh, yeah, that was on questions. Sorry, should've clarified. Thanks

Trying to figure out my nep rep change on the +31/-25 question.

@GnomeSlice it should say on your rep page

@GnomeSlice 150-50 = +100

6:12 PM
@bwarner 105, then.

So basically the same as getting 20 upvotes with no downvotes.
@GnomeSlice Yah, I was rounding. =)
Looks like there is a lot of support on Meta though to make downvotes the same amount as their corresponding upvotes.

maybe assassin's creed 3 will be set in the revolutionary war? looking more likely as the days pass

Okay, so there is one, but it doesn't work for chat.stackexchange :(

@Hex Happy to help. I had some of the same ideas, but wasn't easy to expand. The fact that you had to add so many ticks seems weird. I'll look at it later and see if I can help you out some more.

Alright, I'll code my own later. Would anyone be interested keyboard shortcuts for the chat?
(Asking so if anyone has any shortcut requests I can accommodate)

6:20 PM
@Ktash I can't think of many actions that would require a keyboard shortcut, except maybe 'suspend GnomeSlice'.

@Ktash there definitely is one already

I was thinking View reply, write reply, navigate chat, maybe edit (and edit last)

@Ktash I would say something to cycle through messages to respond too, but the id numbers themselves are not a good enough indication as to which one you are responding too.

Q: SE Chat Modifications -- Keyboard navigation and commands for chat

Tim Stone Screenshot Use /command shortcuts to perform common chat tasks: See message history inline: Easily preview replied-to messages: And much, much more... About Legends tell of a prolific Meta Stack Overflow chatter who despised using their mouse above all things. In an effort to keep t...

@James allows you to use ctrl+up/down to browse through messages, then hit a hotkey for action (d for delete, e for edit, r for reply, etc.)

@IanPugsley Nice, the one I found through meta did not work on chat.SE

6:24 PM
@IanPugsley Installed, wonder if I have to restart to get em to work

Q: Will my Minecraft 1.1 world ever contain a Jungle biome?

gnoviceNow that Minecraft 1.2 has been released, I'm wondering how much of the new stuff added will ever appear in the world that I started playing in 1.1. Specifically, a new Jungle biome has been added, and the wiki page says this: Jungles will only generate in chunks generated after 1.2.1. I'm ...

although this may have been posted before (and it being on reddit means the entire internet's aware already) Neal Degrasse Tyson's doing another ama on reddit

Hex
@OrigamiRobot Yeah, I still have lots to learn when it comes to redstone circuits, so I may have missed something. Can't make sense of all its behaviour yet.

Hmm.. Control up just puts what I last typed into Edit mode

@agent86 I have no idea who that is.

Q: ChatterBox - Userscript that adds inbox integration to StackExchange Chat!

agent86 Screenshot / Code Snippet About I like StackExchange Chat, and with the feedbots it tends to be pretty easy to keep up with what's going on with the site. Except for one thing - my inbox. So I wrote this userscript that adds an "inbox" button with auto-refresh to the chat interface. ...

@James It has to be the right hand ctrl, which is just weird

@James that would be what regular up does

@AshleyNunn Neal Degrasse Tyson is a very, very smart science dude.

@Hex I was going to look at it last night, but I forgot.

user15026
@agent86 Cool. :)

6:26 PM
@Ktash SEChatModifications has a ton of hotkeys, including a way to reply

@agent86 you forgot hilarious

@AshleyNunn he's also an excellent teacher and conversationalist.

@MichaelMrozek That's the one I had installed, but it excludes chat.SE // @exclude http://chat.*.stackexchange.com/*

if you've got an hour, and have any interest in science or humor, you should watch this:
colbert's out of his "egomaniac" character, and he interviews tyson in long-form

@Ktash Are you using an old version? It doesn't appear to anymore; I think that was just for a few days when chat changed and the script totally broke

6:28 PM
@MichaelMrozek That was directly from the github version of the script

@Ktash Ugh, ill go uninstall that then.. I do not right control that often.

@Ktash I'm looking right at it

@James Also, it is missing a keyboard shortcut to reply to the last message... :/

@James that's not true; left control works fine

@MichaelMrozek Oh, whoops, I was clicking on the wrong one lol
Hmm, when I get some time, I'll probably still home-brew my own so I can setup shortcut keys and such
I think I love to reinvent the wheel way too much
Yay, first silver badge on gaming

please refer to the following video game hype chart

Hey @agent86 I'm curious as to why you need a token for you script?

@Ktash I'm using the "official" inbox API

@agent86 Got it. Makes sense :)

there's also a link that explains the authentication flow. It's probably possible to use some other method to do it, but the script is also an entry in the API v2.0 contest, so I thought it best to, y'know, use the API :)

haha, yeah, usually goes better for the contest

6:47 PM
I've got a few more things on my "what if" list that I might get to at some point
but I think I'm up to about 5 apps/scripts so far, and the contest is over so the pressure's off.

What kind of other things are you looking to do?

Q: How do i make big trees

GigalaI found a jungle biome in my new Minecraft world, but im afraid of cutting down the big trees (the ones that are 2 squares wide and long), because i dont know if i can replant them. So is it possible to grow new ones with saplings or to spawn them in any other way?

@RonanForman Do we have a first objective for Saturday?

@agent86 I cannot understand that.

@OrigamiRobot No, maybe we should set the first one, we are part of the community after all.

6:59 PM
@RonanForman how do you plan on handling trolls? I because I would vote that you build the most realistic pooping butt possible

@IanPugsley Choose which challenges to do.
