@Paulster2 : I'm not really in a position to comment since I'm still in *learn* mode. Do you mean use a dial bore to measure the shells and a micrometer for the crank?
Could be a good question for the site: "Why is it preferable to use a dial bore gauge over Plastigauge when measuring bearing clearances?" Gives you a chance to compos your thoughts :)
