Saw this, have to share it.
When people ask me "Plz" just because it's shorter than "Please" I feel perfectly justified to answer "No" because it's shorter than "Yes"

@Zaid Y a-t-il un chatroom dans ce but ? would work better.
And you would have to use the infinitive pratiquer because you used the verb "vouloir" as un verbe auxillaire.
@DucatiKiller I can't believe how often I find myself agreeing with you...

@anonymous2 We must have a similar flavor of Chat PTSD.
ahhh look, Images are back. Imgur must be fixed.

@DucatiKiller It's a good thing we weren't both elected, we would have had a majority sledge-hammer. ;)

They would rue the day they did that.

Need sleep........

Sorry @anonymous2 No rest for the wicked.

Lol, I say that all the time...
...usually refering to myself, btw.

....and in this case I might be referring to you but don't want to seem passive aggressive so I will leave it a mystery.

"This mystery is profound..."

It's also a Pandora's Box so don't open it!

Ok, I'll try not to. I'm headed out for evening chores, so see you around...

Lemmings might fly out and take over the earth. Oh wait, that's already happened. Eh, go ahead...open it.
Take care.

There's a place in Phoenix called Streets of New York Pizza. I like to go there more for the irony than the food.

@DucatiKiller iron is good for you

@Zaid It's an essential mineral!

Skyrim! Trying so hard not to just quit my job, go home and play.

@Zaid I personally wouldn't eat it all the same...
At least, not just that.

@BobCross - TitanFall2 just delivered today. I'm itching to get home and fire it up. I was able to pre-delivery download it on Monday, so I'm ready to go with it.
I had to buy two copies, one for XB1 and one for PC. The wife wants to play it on the console, so there you go.

In Skyrim, I am a dragon-slaying god king. Argument: won.
Also, does your game about falling down titans prompt you to sing loudly in draconic? No? Hm. Well, I guess that's fine for some people....

12:24 PM
@BobCross Did you see that Qualcomm's picking up NXP?

@LynnCrumbling I didn't and I have to admit that I don't know why that's important. That's not really my area. Will that give us super goodness?

@BobCross Probably won't effect much, except the Qualcomm's GDP.

@anonymous2 Gosh Darn Penguins?

Eh, just one huge chip maker buying another huge chip maker.
Mifare's prevalent in some of the projects that we do.

@BobCross Gross Domestic Product.
Though I guess that doesn't apply on a company level.

You know's really annoying? My top answer on SO.

@LynnCrumbling ...was that what you were looking for?

ah, screw you upvoter :)
hahhaa
it's interesting.. I want my top answer to be something incredibly complicated and useful for advanced developers...
not something mundane :)

@LynnCrumbling, anything from 2011 that already has a score of 10 or more on SO will get upvotes.
@LynnCrumbling You could delete it. ;)
Or if you want, we do a mass down-voting job on it.

Hahah. Indeed.
Like this one -- this is a cool little idiosyncrasy in the datetime type:stackoverflow.com/a/31973334/656243

Q: What is your opinion about engine flush?

user3483880I have heard really mixed opinions about the necessity of engine flush. My quick research suggested that manufactures do not recommend doing an engine flush. In addition, there are extreme cases of blown engines after engine flush. My questions are, is it safe ? is it necessary ? My mechanic p...

How do you guys see this question? I think it's really borderline.

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 I saw it. It looks a bit opinion based.

12:47 PM
WTF .... blown engines???

It looks very opinion based
BUT
There is one portion of it which says "pros/cons of using it" ... which can be bled through without worry of opinion.

Ok, I'm going to let my lack of knowledge show:

Yah, the term "blown" is VERY subjective.

When he says engine flush, is he talking about flushing coolant?

@LynnCrumbling Upvote all you like on AU. I don't really care with that account. I'd be a bit more concerned about a serial vote on mech.SE.

12:48 PM
@LynnCrumbling A flush through the oil system, I'd assume.

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Just what I was going to say.
:)
I still haven't figured out how it would blow the engine.

Coolant flushes are done all the time and are needed to get the crap out.

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Have you posted to the Close Vote Café?

@anonymous2 - I don't know exactly either.
@anonymous2 - this question?

Yes.

12:50 PM
Go ahead if you like.

Of course, it just Ducati in ther.

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Is it normal to do an engine flush?

I REALLY don't like the word "opinion" in the title of it ... I think it can be massaged into a better question. Maybe if we guide the OP a little. I just didn't want to throw a whammy on it and call it a day.

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 I'm in total agreement.

@LynnCrumbling - If good oil is used and maintenance is performed, an engine flush may NEVER be needed.
Unless it's a BMW, that is.

12:51 PM
If there's sludge buildup in the engine, it's a "thing", right?

It might be worthwhile doing a bit of googling to see if we can find out what he's talking about, too...

@LynnCrumbling - Not sure what you mean?
Sludge is a real thing if that's what you're asking.

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 I was thinking a Nissan.

Does it make sense to use an engine flush as a method for clearing out sludge?

12:53 PM
An engine oil flush is a process in which a service technician adds chemicals to the oil so that any carbon deposits in the oil system flow out of the system and into the oil filter. The technician then drains the oil and chemicals, replaces the oil filter and fills the car's oil reservoir with clean oil.
Quote from Reference.com, BTW, so take with a grain of salt.
Hi, @Myself.

@LynnCrumbling - Actually, if sludge is uber present, I wouldn't do it. You need to pull parts of the engine apart and clean it manually. If you throw an engine flush in there, you knock all of the crud loose, then plug up the oil filter, which would cause oil starvation (or bypass of oil filter).

Yeah, sludge is prevalent amongst vw owners who decided to play the conventional oil game.

Synthetic is the way to go (IMHO) for turbo applications.

@anonymous2 Hi
Hi all

Hi myself

12:54 PM
Hola, @Myself !
@LynnCrumbling - It's strange putting it that way, isn't it?
Speaking to "yourself" in the third person, almost.
haha

Welcome myself!

My fingers didn't want to type it :)

I can imagine.

Ok, here is the truth: The association of American psychologists is sponsoring me
:)

ROFL!
nice ... stupid Americans ... oh, wait.

12:57 PM
Okay, seems like the major issue with an engine flush is that it can clear away the sludge from rubber seals that would be leaking except for the fact that the sludge is keeping the oil in.
So then the engine starts leaking oil.

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Nah, while I am not except from prejudices I am not the dude who is stereotyping by nationalities
How is your engine thingie going @Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2

I suppose if the engine lost a substantial amount of oil, you could end up with insufficient lubrication issues.
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2, does this look better?

You may want to reword it to make it even less opinion-based : "When is it a good idea?" ... "What are conditions that it may be applicable?" .. etc

@LynnCrumbling Good point.
Go for it, if you like.

Ok, I'm going to append the "When" and see how it goes.

1:07 PM
Sure, give it a go. :)

At least now, some answers may choose to respond with "only in the most extreme of circumstances" or the like.
I feel like the question is answerable.

My opinion on engine sludge is the following: Either you do not allow it to happen, or you try to cure it gently with good fresh oil or you take everything apart and clean it

@LynnCrumbling, I don't think he thinks he needs one: he says his mechanic already performed one.
I could be reading him wrong, however.

I think he's considering having one done on his new car.
(mechanic performed it on the old car)

Okay, could be.

1:18 PM
@Myself - Slow. Maybe get some done on it this weekend, but I'll be out in St Louis most of next week.
@anonymous2 - I like that much better. Great cleanup effort.

@anonymous2 Hey, you just hit 2k!
You've got new privs now... GOOD ones!

2 hours later…
3:01 PM
@LynnCrumbling Yes, just to lose them in a few days/weeks... :)

Yeah, I thought that. You didn't see the very very tiny asterisk? "You've got new privs now*.. GOOD ones!"

@LynnCrumbling Frankly, I don't see any difference yet...

*now being defined as the immediate time. Limitations apply. Void where prohibited. "sucker"
heh
Hrmm. So 2k should let you view deleted questions.
Can you find one that you know was deleted, and try to hit it?

I honestly don't know of any. I have found something, though.
It appears that in the review queues, I now also have a little "Tools" tab.
Okay, yes, I can see deleted posts.
Say, you're not far away.
Say, mod tools are cool! I'm thinking of shooting for 10k... :)

3:20 PM
@anonymous2 - Oh, heck with 10k ... bust on through 25k and call it a day!
I finally got @DucatiKiller & @Zaid to understand something ... IT'S LONELY AT THE TOP! COME ON UP! THE WEATHER'S FINE!!

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Sure. Of course, if I can make it to 25k, I will, but time...
@DᴀʀᴛʜVᴀᴅᴇʀ Hi!

@anonymous2 ROFL
Write another 1k answers or so and it shouldn't be an issue.

good friday to you guys
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 whose got that much free time =P
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 you finally have, all the POWER, of mechanics SE that is

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Yes, but 1k answers? I don't know that much about motors... :)

3:27 PM
@DᴀʀᴛʜVᴀᴅᴇʀ he's going to be a handful to keep in check :)

@anonymous2 - I'm sure you know more than you think you know ... I've learned a butt ton since I started frequenting here.
@Zaid - Oh, the ban hammer about came out on that one, buddy!
:o)

if SE was still making business cards when a site graduated Id say he would be complete but they stopped that over a year ago if I recall

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Oh, I'm sure I've learned too. I still remember that embarrassing post that mods can still view...

Actually, anyone with enough rep can view deleted posts ... heh

Yes, I just discovered that, lol...

3:29 PM
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 after 7 votes of 10k higher

Yah, just saying it's still visible to more people than you'd think.

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 ooh, I'm scared now :)

@Zaid - You better be, Bucky ...

@CharlieRB Haha, you're right. After you said that, I voted to leave open.

I'm so happy to see this place buzzing

3:32 PM
@ZachMierzejewski I think it is lacking a bit of info, but we might be able to get that from the OP. If not, it could be closed as too broad, but I don't think it's a dupe.
But that's just my personal opinion. Others may differ; that's fine. :)

@Zaid Indeed
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Oh my Zen Master.

Does mod tool access give any privilege in chat?

@anonymous2 I obviously agree, haha. I was trying to ping CharlieRB because he is somewhat right that we should have just voted to leave open. I've never been able to do that before!

@anonymous2 Nope.

@anonymous2 Um ... yes?

3:36 PM
@anonymous2 Actually which mod tools are we talking about? Diamond privileges or 20k rep privileges?

@JoErNanO 10k, which is 2k right now.
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Like what?

@anonymous2 The answer is no then. You are a global chat mod if you are a mod on any SE site. That's about it.
Ah if you own the chat room you can do stuff like changing name and description I think.

@JoErNanO Ah, ok.

@anonymous2 - If you are talking about diamond privs, I can edit anyone's comments in chat. I can ban hammer someone. Delete posts. Lots of things I couldn't do before

3:37 PM
@JoErNanO That's true.

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Please pretty please ban @anonymous2 just for kicks. :)

@JoErNanO - correct on that.

Lol. That was me, BTW.

@JoErNanO - Sure, I can give him a 1sec ban ... just for the fun of it right?

Sure, go for it...

3:39 PM
Not happening.

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Yes yes. Abuse your mod privileges your second day on the job. :D
All jokes aside, 10k rep mod tools basically just allow you to see posts which have been deleted, and posts to be deleted in a nice ordered table.

@JoErNanO - yup

I was all excited about them back then and then it kinda felt all for nothing.

Say, I have the orange rectangle next to my profile with a 3 in it.

I've had all the privs so long, the only real thing getting the diamond gave me was the ability to see people's profile information and then the few extra things like manipulating "answers" into "comments" and such.

3:41 PM
But when I click on it, there's nothing in the review queues.

@anonymous2 That's the total number of reviews left across all queues for all users.

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 And chat privs?

Yup. like I said above.

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Yes, I noticed you did that a couple times... <goes off to spy some more>...
@JoErNanO But there's nothing in the review queues.

Q: Review marker not resetting

WillekeOn this site, in the top of the page there is an option for a red markers, next to the word review, which should show how many posts are waiting for your review. On TSE, when under 10K rep, the warner showed how many post were waiting in the suggested edits queue and that worked well. Only tag e...

For you no. But some items are waiting reviews by others.
Say a close-vote issue is missing close votes. You reviewed it already but I didn't. That makes 1 item in the orange rectangle.

3:44 PM
@JoErNanO Okay, I've got you now. Makes sense.

@anonymous2 I'm working on my 10k in SO... that'll happen in about another year and a half :)

@anonymous2 Is it cleared now? :)
I mean the orange rectangle. :)

@JoErNanO Yep, it's gone.

@JoErNanO Thanks for clearing me out of the queue! I snuck back into it when you weren't looking...
:p

@ZachMierzejewski My pleasure. I'm a big fan of edits which clarify the question and improve formatting. Don't forget the tags though. :)

4:01 PM
@JoErNanO - Yah, I see a lot of tag edits which should occur. I try to catch them when I can.
I'm headed home in a few. When I get home, I'll be playing TitanFall2 (as if anyone cares ... I know @BobCross doesn't ... I think he has an aversion to FPS games). I'll see what I can do to be back on here, lol. Have a good one guys!

4:18 PM
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Play league of legends man.

Well see you all... my boss has work for me this afternoon.

ciao @anonymous2

4:55 PM
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 not at all! I play Warframe with my son if not as often as he would like. I like the pew pews!
I am averse to anything that @Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 likes, though, because he is a whippersnapper.

5:20 PM
@BobCross - Uh ... I could only wish I was a "whippersnapper" ... BWAT!!!

The love between you two makes me a little verklempt. It's very touching. @Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 and @BobCross

@DucatiKiller - Gee ... thanks. All kinds of Mod love flowing today :o)

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Indeed. Are you two going to give away any Free Unicorns later?

5:39 PM
Argh! I Ann trying to write today and everything is awful. The sky is distracting! My headphones are slightly too heavy! Someone way down the hall is having a quiet discussion! Woe! Tragedy!

@ZachMierzejewski You are 'The Editing Machine' Perhaps we should just call you 'Machine'.

6:07 PM
@BobCross Is your profile pic Tycho from PA?
(one of the earlier versions of him?)

Yes an ancient picture from one of their ad banners

nice.

Thanks. It was more apt when my hair was brown and Tycho wasn't super bald

A: When is an engine flush a good idea?

MonkeyZeusMy understanding of the engine flush process appears to differ from everyone else that has commented or answered so below is my take on it. An engine flush (engine oil or transmission oil) is the process in which ALL of the oil is drained from the system and re-filled; this does not necessarily ...

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Not so good

I hate to say this answer is complete hog wash ...

Op is talking about engines and this dude brings in the tranny

This person really has no idea what they are talking about, whether engine or transmission.
I don't have the heart to really say anything to them, though ... argh.

How to state this in a comment without being unfriendly?

8:52 PM
Exactly
And I'm not suggesting one of you say something either. Yah, just a really poor answer.

I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Not quite that bad, but really ... I guess I'll say something on there.
Not quite sure what to say though.

"Sorry, this makes no sense?"

Okay, this is going to be my stab: "Is this all conjecture or would you have any references to cover what you're saying?"
Or is that too mean as well?
How do you say it nicely? Especially to someone who is an established user on other SE sites?

I do not think so

8:56 PM
It is almost a trolling answer, if you ask me.

He, theoretically, has a possibility to bring some facts
But I am thinking about a flag
"very low quality"
Might give him a little nudge

Remember, bad/wrong answers are not really a reason for a flag.

Also if they are totally wrong?
Unrecoverable, totally wrong. Not a single line is right?

Even if they are totally wrong. I think other sites would use down voting to cover this. I think the originator would quite understand this as well.
@Myself - Unfortunately even if it's all wrong. I've had my flags shot down before for the same.

"flags shot"?

9:02 PM
I'm asking about the user on the Mods chat

I decided I point out the biggest errors

There doesn't seem to be anything derogatory on their record, so I don't think this is a trolling incident. I think they really just don't know what they are talking about.

Q: I have a black eye. How do I respond to the inevitable curiosity and protect my workplace reputation?

Throw AwayYesterday I left work with a charmingly unblemished face. Today I have a black eye. I imagine when I go into work there will be questions and rumors about it. In this case, my usual policy of honesty would negatively affect my workplace reputation, which is extremely valuable to me. Additionally...

There was this (now deleted) comment: "I forgot the safeword"
First I had to giggle about the comment, but actually the question gives me the creeps

@Myself I can't tell if the OP is male or female

Male: Bar fight, all ok.
Female: Makes my stomach cramping

So much for gender equality :/
Black eyes take time to heal

In the "engine flush" question, the bad answer is the first answer/question from the user on this site. They have commented 23 times over the last 14 months.
I just wanted to share that they have seen mechanics.SE before.
In my comment, I treated them like I would a new user: courteous. The current Hot Meta Question is What a warm welcome this user got :(. I'm not saying anyone wasn't courteous, just throwing some info out.
(Usually, I'm the jerk!)

@ZachMierzejewski - I think you're fine.
