@Paulster2 This is the one that I meant - just drove past the spot where I saw the kayak + roof rail remnants this evening. Fortunately, it's been cleared up by now!
I have a rather strange problem with my BMW G650GS. In the morning, when the engine is cold, it starts fine with a single crank. There is no problem with riding, the engine works fine and never chokes. Then, if I ride for a while to make the engine hot, stop it, let it stay for about 5 - 10 minut...
@Zaid - If done right, the welds are just as strong if not stronger than the material which was used to create the adapter. The part I would be worried about are the cut threads. If one were to use the correct size nuts on a Grade 8 fastener, the rolled threads in it would be of much greater strength. Cut threads have a tendency to pull out under a great amount of force.
@Zaid - Yah, that and a bag of donuts will get me ... a bag of donuts. I read the What does this mean? ... but I really don't understand what it means I can actually do with the chat differently than I could before.
@Zaid - Okay, so read through my new ominous powers and discovered I can add RSS feeds into the room. I think Larry had done this previously with new questions. I think it clutters up the space (makes it hard to find actually conversations). Did you have a specific feed in mind?
@Zaid - I remember the scope creep comments. I don't want to sound mean, but it appears to me he is being lazy about doing the rebuild. In the Jafromobile videos, he really strongly states about cleanliness and why it's a good reason to keep everything clean. I really wish our guy would do the same. It really does make sense to keep things clean in this case. If not, nothing but more money is going to be spent getting it fixed after everything is worn out.
@Paulster2 : I can empathize with him. The Beemer was sitting on jackstands for the better part of 7 months for various reasons... it can be quite frustrating to find the time and energy to perform a Proper Job
I have a car which has been sitting in my driveway due to lack of energy to actually do the work. Now my son is coming down from Alaska (moving to North Carolina - NC). He wants to buy the car from me. I hope he understands if he does buy it, it will be moving to NC with him. But I digress. I haven't done much work on it just due to lack of energy to work on it (not physical energy, mental energy).
Funnily enough when you mention things like stator, rotor and vanes, I can understand them. Just never thought that you'd have a turbine as part of the drivetrain
@Paulster2 I kind of wish he was still presenting. Not sure I like the new guy as much, though he does get a little more technical with the walkthroughs
@Paulster2 : Did you reach the part where Finnegan and Freiburger talk about why they didn't use an intercooler on the Bonneville car? "Just wasn't enough of a benefit" Hmmm, that sounds familiar :)
