@LegoStormtroopr You might be interested in Dave Draper's minimum program for mature lifters: davedraper.com/fusionbb/showtopic.php?tid/31882 I think that if the hill in the sprints were optional, it would be close to perfect for an older person looking to stay capable.
Viewed through the lens of keeping the general population strong and fit for everyday tasks, I can’t see anything to change. It requires merely an (optional) hill and a single kettlebell. It covers the major likely-to-become-problematic movement patterns and adds substantial resistance to them: picking things up, standing up from a seat, standing up from lying down, carrying things, locomoting. It’s simple to teach. It doesn’t require much of a progression for it to remain useful.
My only concern is that I don't think any static program will produce a good rate of adherence over the long term. Unless a person engages in self-directed goal setting, they're likely to get bored with this program like any other that doesn't change. This is why I think that programs with progressions (C25k, SS, SL, etc) or that introduce the person to a rich practice like a sport or the endless panoply of strength training are superior.
