Anyone alive out there

I am alive, could be a zombie, but not sure
how are you?

user161117
I'm alright I guess just kinda exhausted and wondering if I'll ever come to a point where I can at least understand QM from a "Ok this is what the actual theory is saying" point of view

sounds familiar

user161117
I feel like I'm constantly sifting through bogus info and interpretations and approximations half the time

user161117
I don't know anything rofl what about you, how are you

3:09 AM
I am not too bad - in a transitional state

user161117
lol

Finding myself both on the verge of great things, yet going slightly mad at a question that is at 24 upvotes (25 = silver)

user161117
I don't know if I can upvote

user161117
Why are there so many stupid restrictions on this site

user161117
Are people really that concerned about people spamming upvotes

user161117
3:12 AM
I'll give you one if I can, link me to it.

not sure, but opvoting only requires 15 rep
you have to be a member and have 15 rep to upvote
tis my favourite question - chemistry.stackexchange.com/q/33823/15489
old book smell
love the smell, but the answer tells me that my old-book-smell-addiction could be dangerous...lol

user161117
Yeah I mean there are worse things you could be sniffing

very true
so very very true
incredibly undeniably phenomenally true
lol

user161117
Yeah, maybe that should be a question, "What's the most harmful thing you could possibly sniff and survive?"

user161117
... chemically speaking of course...

3:17 AM
hmmm could be too broad...lol - I would say my neighbour's socks
that would be a guess though
lol

user161117
Haha

or @inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M's socks when he has done King Fu and been for a ride

user161117
What sorta chemistry interests you other than the uhhh.. aromatic chemistry of books?

lol
I am interested in the corrosion process
my field is actually instrumentation

user161117
Oh so do you do like electroplating and x-ray diffraction

3:24 AM
electroplating, and the formation of rust
my research is actually in the opto-electric properties of silicon and its uses

user161117
You know, I really wish I knew more about silicon chemistry it's one of those things that pops up every now and then in discussion but I haven't really looked into it much

it is a very interesting field

user161117
So would you consider what you do mostly inorganic or also a little bit organic chemistry?

user161117
I guess I'm just curious, I really don't know much about silicon other than it's right under carbon.

I am definitely in the inorganic camp

Hullo @Steve! Welcome to our Table!

7:48 AM
@inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M you know it is true

ಠ_ಠ but I don't even wear socks when doing Kung Fu.
\o

ewwww
so, @inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M...

8:07 AM
So . . .

so...

Soo . . .

9:08 AM
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
The karma bus is about to smite some enemies of mine

long and boring story

@santiago ?

long and boring story

? ლ(ಠ益ಠლ)
[meta.so]?

9:12 AM
lol

Stupid chat onebox.

lol
real life enemies

Midgets and leprechauns?

worse

Big midgets and leprechauns?

9:24 AM
no, some worthless sacks of carbon

Your enemies are sacks of carbon? Shame on you.

lol - hope I answered this well chemistry.stackexchange.com/a/36912/15489

+1, but I'd love a more explained answer.
Give him some examples.

nitrogen etc

Yeah.
Give him also some ideas about allotropes.

9:33 AM
he did not ask them

I know, but being more informative is always more awesome, and besides, allotropy is related. Your choice though/

9:45 AM
alrighty, added allotrope paragraph

(づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ

heh, he accepted then unaccepted
odd

PLAYTIME!

nah, watching the answer with my finger hovering over the delete button

Weird. I remember I clicked upboat, but then I saw now it isn't.

9:55 AM
heh
lol, up to 26 for my book question
hello @pH13

\o Mr.Base.
@pH13 I'm now used to your last name. ლ(ಠ益ಠლ)
Anyways good thing you can't find the second pK. I thought my knowledge is lacking and refrained from answering.

10:18 AM
okay, I have added more to the answer - chemistry.stackexchange.com/a/36912/15489
please, I hope no more revising
now where did everyone go?

I didn't go anywhere.

sure sure

I'm writing a big FAQ-y meta.ELL post.

10:35 AM
i am happy-ish with my answer... which has taken on a life of its own

IMHO explaining very easy things is harder than explaining advanced stuff.

11:25 AM
nice answer @Loong

@santiago Thank you. You read fast.

i do inded
indeed even
holy crud -i am up to 54 answers!

@santiago Oh, I forgot the time difference between time zones. You can read my answer hours before I even write it.

lol

Nice thought @Loong

11:38 AM
@santiago ?
> the element nitrogen is made entirely from a carbon atom

misprint
fixed :)

ok

Do pH calculations with concentrations of 1 mol/L make sense? Above 0.001 or 0.01 mol/l the activity=concentration assumption does not hold.

good catch
one could say that nitrogen is carbon is sulphur is @inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M
but they would be kinda nuts

@pH13 For homework questions, this issue is usually ignored.

11:49 AM
That's because teachers are notwell educated ... not good

@pH13 Are you answering H3PO4 and NaOH titration?

12:14 PM
most teachers are not specifically chemistry trained, and many chemists won't go near teaching

12:25 PM
@pH13 Not "not well-educated", but "obliged to feed students with oversimplifications".

often, teachers have to follow set curricula

Agreed.

and I have read that subject experts in Chem, Physics, Bio etc as teachers are in chronic short supply
most teachers I know are trained as generalist science teachers

I miss Lord.

I do voluntary teaching (Physics, Maths) - because many schools can not find a subject specialist
the other teachers are doing their best - there is a hell of a lot more to teaching than the subject

12:38 PM
Yes. And now we have to make that @pH13 understand this.

meh, people will believe what they want to believe

Then there's @pH13.

anyway
ironically, in the school where I volunteer, the Chemistry teacher resigned a month ago - got a job in a commercial lab, there is no replacement, so a 2nd year teacher with no chem background is taking the class - she works hard, and the school had no choice.
hmmm trouble brewing

1:14 PM
I have no time, I'm on a birthday ^^

Whose birthday is it?

My aunt's 50th

Happy birthday to your aunt!!
now get off here and enjoy the festivities!
btw, the 'trouble brewing' was in response to a comment I saw on the board

Which comment?

1:58 PM
added a pretty pic chemistry.stackexchange.com/a/36912/15489 @inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M

@santiago Wow. That answer . . . looks different.

like I said, it took a life of its own

Now it's a choir concert in church for about 1 h ... I have zime to chat xD
And I "don't leave" chatroom becausr the Smartphone keeps the cookie or so ^^

HI

HEY @pH13'S AUNT HE'S TOTALLY NOT PAYING ATTENTION TO THE ORCHESTRA!
She heard it. You're screwed.

2:02 PM
I think I went mad with the answer

She holds a little speech right now, guess she didn't listen to you ;D

she is lulling you into a false sense of security

:O noooo

Yes. She'll strike when you don't know it.

see my pretty pictures?
oi!

2:10 PM
I think his aunt found him.

lol
so, @inɒzɘmɒЯ.A.M see how I have added a bit more information

Nope ... hehe

I see

you see?

I made a small change.

tis cool - thank you for that
how are you today?

I am not sure. Nothing much happened today.

11:37 PM
hmmm no alien invasion, no dancing, no running around making chicken noises?

Not that I am aware of.
How is your time zone?

not too bad - it is a warm sunny day here

We had rain all day.

dang!

Oh, your answer was accepted.

11:40 PM
