@MARamezani pubic. not public.

4 hours later…
5:13 AM
well, today's physio went well

@santiago That's great to hear!

I may be back to walking in a month, boxing in 2 months and even back to running by September

That's great! Hope you have a speedy recovery!

indeed! and thank you!

6 hours later…
11:43 AM
@ManishEarth Whatever. I think I need to be reading things more careful.
@santiago I hope I hear from you one day: "Now I can run for 20 miles without aches!"

Q: Wavelength extention in AAS

Ndrina LimaniTheoreticly, the width of the spectral line in AAS (atomic absorbtion spectroscopy) is 10^-5, but in fact there happens an extention of it and it becomes 0.002-0.005. There are some factors which lead to this extention. Most common types of extentions are : Doppler extention Pressure extention...

I think hullo!

hi, the wikipedia link basically has the answer, HW no prior research ?

I dunno.
People here don't usually VTC because of lack of research.
They're too nice.

I would have answered it when it came on, but i slept off due to power cut .. Now i dont want to post the answer

11:49 AM
Why not? Simply because of Wikipedia thingy?

ya ><

I do have answered some lack-of-research questions.
I think you should do it.
We'll thunk about closing them when the community sees nothing in adding them to the list of the questions.
But if there's a +4 to that thing except my upvote, that means the question has some merit.
And so will its answers.

hmm after being at Phy.SE , i feel somewhat too strict ! and supposedly some guy main meta called Phy mods kittens , as in they are too soft :D

Heh.
Physics is developed already.
We haven't, not that much.
So we have to be softer.

Ya , It will be like shooing away users if we are too strict , ah well ..

11:56 AM
Also, I find chem.SE one of the most friendly SEs.
(Except for PLLZZZZZ HALP URRGENT HOMWORK of course)

lol , we have math for that :D

Do they really allow homework?

They are very or rather too lenient on their HW policy.. have you seen their questions ? :D even i posted(my first) couple of questions which were HW , and these type off questions would be closed in other sites within a blink

Ahh, that's a heaven for rep whores.

Though i see no problem with your usage of "whores " here , be careful in other sites :P people are serious about it sometimes

12:03 PM
No no.
"Rep whores" is a famous expression in meta.SE, meaning...Well, rep whores.

3 hours later…
ADG
3:16 PM
@MARamezani BTW what manish says is meaning of jhaat and I said jhandu , he also spells pubic as public . anyways this would be probably my last msg on this site.
@ManishEarth ping ( see above when you have time )

1 hour later…
4:32 PM
@ADG I mistakenly thought @Manish meant public, while he meant pubic. Anyways, I hope two years later you'll learn to be not so "revengic" and things settle down well till that time and beyond.

ADG
4:45 PM
@MARamezani i don't care about 2 years, i'm leaving chem in a month
it'll end anyways,
re: manish just gave you the translation of jhaat not jhandu, and

I don't care anymore.

ADG
@MARamezani is it practical for someone to return after such a long time.
@MARamezani well it promoted a wrong impression anyways
@MARamezani I understand what you meant by "rep whore" and "maths". thanks anywas.

Not that I cared back then. Was just curious about the meaning.
@ADG Wasn't talking about you.

ADG
@MARamezani are you wishing to talk now?
i'm just free

I'm available.

ADG
4:49 PM
ok do you spend your whole day here? most of the time anyways? aren't you worried about the outer world?

All in all, I didn't flag ya, but a lot of flags made mods suspend you.
@ADG I'm worried about many things.

ADG
leave it anyways now.

I don't spend time here.
I just leave the tab open.

ADG
ok and try to learn things? yes?

So that anyone comes here, they won't feel deserted.

ADG
4:51 PM
like latex?
good job!

@ADG I made a mess out of the compilers. Am using Overleaf yet.

ADG
why are you so keen on learning it?

I'll need it.

ADG
maybe for some educational purposes i guess?
@MARamezani how'd you knoiw bout my sus. anyways btw

@ADG Your profile shouts it.

ADG
4:55 PM
@MARamezani you went there to see it? maybe you were trying to ... I can't get why did you went there? did you saw rep=1?

I saw rep 1 when I wanted to check if meta.Chem got any new questions.
You had a recent question, remember?
But then yeah, I clicked your profile to see what was up.
I was a bit surprised.

ADG
@MARamezani suddenly you feel wierd, but later you realize.

I thought everything ended well.

ADG
in the site being being good to work at again?

Huh? I don't follow you.

4:58 PM
@ADG I flagged your comments , no hard feelings.I didn't think it would lead to suspension. Staying civil is a good thing

@Gowtham A single user can cause suspension.

ADG
@Gowtham comments? Area 51?

oh i mean here in the chat, not there

But not a 2-year suspension.
@ADG Did mods leave some message/email that you are suspended?

ADG
@MARamezani yes it's confidential.

4:59 PM
Good. The they explained what's what.

@MARamezani isnt it 1 year ?

ADG
I think the message could be formed better, but anyways it is still acceptable.

Ah, yeah! I still live in 2014.

@MARamezani haha

ADG
@Gowtham ya i didn't care and therefore didn't mentioned it before though i was sure it is a 1

Q: Trying to find manuals for an obsolete instrument

Cohen_the_LibrarianIs a question asking if anyone knows where to find manuals for an obsolete instrument off topic? The company that made the instrument was sold to Thermo Fisher Scientific, but Thermo Fisher does not have the manuals. I don't know where else to go.

8:13 PM
@StackExchange I don't think it's on-topic.
But I'll let @Martin decide.

Q: Carbon with 5 bonds?

Gun DenizI've heard that, even though according to Molecular Orbital Theory there is no chance of having nobel gases bonded to each other, it is not totally impossible. For example, under extreme conditions, Ar2 can be synthesised. So I am wondering whether a carbon can make 5 bonds if the required condi...

ron
9:35 PM
@MARamezani Still around? If so, hi!

Hullo @ron!
I'm around for some time.
Hullo @ron!

ron
Things going well today?

@ron What is your current location? I see your activity at the weirdest of times.

ron
I'm in the western half of the US, it 3:30 pm my time

Hmm...US native?

ron
9:38 PM
I think I recall you're in Iran, if so, must be late

It's a little late.
2:10 a.m.

ron
Are you one of these guys that only need 4 hours sleep?

I was just fighting with my laptop...
@ron Yeah.
But from those guys who sleep during the day too.

ron
What's your favorite science? computers, chemistry, what?

Fridays and Thursdays are school-off days, so it's like a weekend night.
@ron None of the above. CHEMISTRY

ron
9:40 PM
Well said!!
What are you studying in chemistry class?

I love chemistry more than I love ice cream!!!
I know - supposed to be impossible...

ron
Believe me, I understand

@ron Everything.
It's general, understanding the basics.
But now, I'm studying organochem.

ron
My fav!

Yay!

ron
9:42 PM
Want a science trivia question?

Yes. But don't expect me to answer...
Readies up Google
:}

ron
What science is not represented by a Nobel prize - and why?

Hmm...
Physics, no. Chem, no. Hmm...
Ahh!
What about Math?!

ron
Good work!

I haven't heard anyone earn a math Nobel!

ron
9:45 PM
There is not Nobel prize for mathematics

Why? Hmm... Dunno.

ron
The story is that Nobel's mistress had an affair with a mathematician. Makes a good story, but not sure if it is true.

I thought mathematics wasn't supposed to be a science, as it has nothing like the scientific method

Ahh, I give up. Google! HALP PLZZZ URGENT...

There is no hypothesis/theory/experimentation cycle, just logical deductions

9:47 PM
@NicolauSakerNeto Hullo!

Hello
I lurk a lot, sorry about that

ron
Sure there are hypothesis and theories in math, and experiments in some branches

WHAT?!
> I loved repeating this juicy story, but my faith in it was somewhat shaken when I found out that Nobel had never married!

ron
Yes, that's why the story says pheonsea or mistress

> "The true answer to the question (of the title) is that, for natural reasons, the thought of a prize in mathematics never entered Nobel's mind."

ron
9:49 PM
Hi Nicolau, how are you today\tonight?

Hello ron, I'm fine thanks
How was your day?

ron
Good. Had a doctor's apt that went better than I expected.

About my day, I was wrestling with my laptop to get the dang compiler compile LaTeX without errors.

ron
@MARamezani I read that AXX has been banned for a year, did he say why?

9:51 PM
Just solved the issue after installing Vim, Emacs, TeXnicCenter, and finally TeXmaker.
@ron He didn't. But I remember constantly getting flagged is a cause of suspension.

ron
Too bad, I think he is well intentioned.

Don't remember if you remember how he insulted Martin, me, Geoff and few others.
@ron He did apologize. And not once.

ron
not really, please explain

@ron Well, the first day he came, he left short answers. Very short answers. Not sure if you were here.

ron
but that's not an insult

9:54 PM
I commented so that he knows that they're gonna get deleted, and everything was resolved with amusement.
The next day, the first comment I wrote was replied something like
> @Maramezani you sure? Because I'm gonna get very angry this time.

ron
Ah

My next comment was about a reaction mechanism he took an image of.
(From his notebook)
The image was awful,
so I asked for a better resolution.

ron
yes, that I remember

He replied something like
> If you want a better one, go buy me a camera and...
I didn't see the other comments.
> If you want a better one, go buy me a camera and...
Then, in one answer, he wrote:
> I'm very disappointed that you mindlessly assume things. Go do some research...
At the very least,
I got a deputy badge outta this!

ron
I should confess my sins, sometimes I get headstrong too. In one of my early posts related to cyclopropane absorbing bromine, I was new to the group and did not respond as politely as I should have.

10:00 PM
I should confess too.
Wait...I hadn't been impolite any time.
I should confess too.

ron
@Martin I apologize for how I handled that interchange. It haunts me a bit, good to unburden my soul.

@ron Everyone has a worst day for themselves.

ron
I know, while it may be human, that's not a good excuse

It is...because I said so!

ron
Thank you. I feel better.

10:02 PM
I sometimes end up being grumpy.

ron
Your like the deity of SE Chem, you can dispense forgiveness!

I remember Klaus was angry when he lost 440 rep due to user account removal.

ron is so noble, yet another thing in him for me to look up to!

@ron Bow down to the ROOM OWNER...
That title is bigger than me

ron
You'r both making me laugh

10:04 PM
No sarcasm was intended!

Never ever ever!

ron
That is a bad rule about losing rep, aren't they changing it?
In fact 440 surprises me

@ron It's always status-bydesign.

ron
I thought when someone leaves (who has a lot of question) they do it differently so as not to mess up the rep

Hmm...
Gimme a minute.

10:07 PM
An admin said that a sufficiently heavy user doesn't have their votes removed if their account is deleted

ron
that's what I though I had read

12
Q: Reputation losses on Chemistry.SE - Can we please get the votes back?

Klaus WarzechaThe following illustrates the dramatic impact of a situation described earlier in Don't throw away all votes when a user is deleted. Chemistry.SE is a vivid beta site with ~ 2700 questions. The reputation of the Top 5 users lies between ~ 9500 and (curently) 4500. I'm the happy guy on rank ...

I feel quite worried for that user, though
His (main) name was Amaterasu, if I recall correctly

@NicolauSakerNeto About Klaus' loss, Shog said that because the user didn't follow the procedures of deletion, his account wasn't deleted.
@NicolauSakerNeto Why?

One day he was having fun in chat, then a few days later he mentioned he was worried about some health check
Then after a few days of absence, he returned and wrote very succinctly that he couldn't take part in the site anymore, and just vanished
I hope he's doing well

10:10 PM
CREEPY!
@NicolauSakerNeto I hope so too.

ron
me three

He seemed like a good contributor.

ron
How long ago did he leave

Klaus' meta post is from a day or two after he left
Over a year now, sheesh
Time flies

ron
But @MARamezani you've only been here 8 months. How did you know him?

10:12 PM
@NicolauSakerNeto Sheesh! That's my catch phrase!
@ron I'm a reader...
I read old posts...

Is there a way for us to check the chat log? Not just starred comments?

So if you see a sudden upvote of an old Dissenter question, that as most probably me.
@NicolauSakerNeto Yes. Scroll up!

Oh full transcript, I suppose

@NicolauSakerNeto Click room.
>
I mean on the topper upper right corner.

ron
just search for @XYZ

10:14 PM
@XYZ

Check that and the next day
Helios was his handle, at that point

Sheesh!
Chat was empty back then...
You guys needed me huh?

@ADG what?

Chat was empty a month ago, I'm rather surprised at the sudden usage spurt

@ManishEarth Hullo!

10:18 PM
o/

@NicolauSakerNeto Haha...That's what happens when I'm here.

ron
@ManishEarth hi!

Hello ManishEarth

@ManishEarth I think ADG was writing a goodbye/love letter.

ah okay
hi everyone!

10:19 PM
Recently Chem.SE has also had an average of 25 questions per day, so crazy!
When I joined, it was always between 5-10

It's the new site design. It's gotten everyone pumped up
There are some great reads surfacing too

@NicolauSakerNeto Again...That's what happens when I'm here... :}}

If ron weren't fielding questions left and right, we'd be in hot water

lol

ron
sometimes I wonder if I should back off some, that maybe others would then step forward

10:20 PM
@ManishEarth Dunno. Don't think so. Not everyone is talking about the design.
@ron DON'T WONDER THEN!

@MARamezani I was mostly kidding :p

ron, please don't stop contributing! ;_;

@ManishEarth Me too.

If you must, you can just delay your answers a few days

@ron You can always wait a day before posting :)
yeah

10:21 PM
No he mustn't!

I used to do that on Chem when it started
haha

@ManishEarth When it started there were 2 answerers...

haha

Poll: What is the hardest badge to earn?

Moderator badges, of course!

10:23 PM
Legendary? reversal? Illuminator?

Unsung Hero, Reversal, and of course Legendary

@NicolauSakerNeto Infinite hardship not included.

Illuminator can be done with time. The others are harder

Unsung isn't hard IMO.

There's a certain point past which it's really hard to get

10:24 PM
I don't know much about badges, it's a fun system, and a nice little occasional reward, but I don't really seek them out

yep

ron
@ManishEarth Do high school teachers still lecture from platforms in India?

Depends, but yes
By platform I assume you mean an area at the front which is slightly raised, has podium and/or long table-ish thing, and a large board

ron
yes
I once went to a high school lecture and the teacher was so engrossed in the lecture that he fell off the edge of the platform. The students started laughing. He picked himself up. Dusted himself off and said, "I see no reason for laughter, as I recall this is the first time I've descended to the level of my students."

Haha wow
Now that's a powerful line

ron
10:29 PM
pretty good for off the cuff
Everyone take care. Look forward to seeing you all again!

See you later, ron
Have a good day
