@enderland if only it was so easy

9:39 AM
@enderland Hah, you hiring? I thought you moved away from SAP? ;)

9:57 AM
ah you are an SAP developer? Which modules if I dare ask?

Hah, we got another one?
I develop cross-module but I've mostly been working with SD, ISU, FICA, PM and a handful of others.

10:45 AM
care to work in Germany?

1 hour later…
11:51 AM
@Lilienthal :P I was trying to rescue you from it!

@enderland did you know a SAP licence costs 3000 €?

Kaz
@RaoulMensink Is it as low as that?

@Kaz per month

Kaz
@RaoulMensink oh

yes that was how i reacted :D

12:19 PM
Hah! My company won't even spring for an MS Access license. So, we're going for SQL Server. Yes, that's right. Gotta love corporate logic

Kaz
@RichardU To be fair, SQL Server is a much better option than Access. But seriously? They spend tens of thousands a year on an employee's salary, but won't spend £100 for a software licence. I've never quite understood that logic.

yeah, SAP is expensive

@Kaz look at it this way. You get paid 40k in year another 100$ on top no no no
@enderland I know of a 12 People Company with SAP

@RaoulMensink that seems really dumb to me

@Kaz I know it's a better option, but someone developed a tool using MS access which we could have ported right into our systems. NOPE! Forget the man hours saved for them to actually use the tool. Gotta wait 2 months to get a SQL server instance

12:25 PM
I called the CEO and told him he was an idiot
he said he liked SAP

Kaz
@RaoulMensink Well hey, if it's his money (and in a company that small, I assume it is).

For some reason, Germany is in love with SAP.

@Kaz he makes 25mill a year
@RichardU The Netherlands

Waste Management corp Sued the HELL out of them in the USA

Germans sue everyone and everything. they just dont make the News like americans :D

12:29 PM
germany is in love with processes

12:41 PM
@enderland Nice comment about the email :D

1:03 PM
@RaoulMensink I'm a TEENY bit familiar with the country. I still have relatives there.

@RichardU do they speak dutch or?

1:32 PM
@RaoulMensink They are all in Germany. Most of them in Stuttgart or Pforzheim

2:00 PM
@RichardU oh you ment with Germany

I'd love to live in Germany again someday

Sicher?

2:32 PM
@RaoulMensink Here in Germany it is for example illegal to make and publish audio recordings of private conversations. StGB § 201. — Philipp 7 mins ago
In some jurisdictions there are laws which forbid to release private communication without the permission of both parties. — Philipp 35 mins ago
Some People... are just a Little weird

@RaoulMensink this is true though, states have different laws on this

yes, but thats a completely different situation
the question is about text Messages and if your Boss is allowed to send them to HR
I said there are no laws that forbid him from releasing his private communication
I know german law we got nothing that forbids me to release what I or someone else said on watsapp for example
Feierabend :D

Q: Underpaid and underchallenged in a brand new role

johndoeI have been working as a contractor for a few years in my field and interviewed for a perm role at a company I've wanted to work at for years in an experienced hire role (so I thought). I was offered lower than my requested salary at interview and they didn't accept my negotiation (but did give ...

Why don't we ever get a post about "overpaid and overworked?"

@ChristopherEstep I'll make a note to semi-randomly hunt down old answers of yours and drop you a downvote, since you love it so much. ;)

LOL

9:00 PM
lol, gee thanks @Lilienthal

9:53 PM
@RichardU how about overpaid and underworked...

10:15 PM
@RoryAlsop or "Gee, I think I've been unfair to a coworker, how do I make amends?"

It's a good strategy when you are frustrated to write an angry email to vent without anyone in the to field and then delete it. Often just writing the email gives you the benefits. — enderland ♦ 10 hours ago
Ah, it's saved me many a day these past few weeks @enderland.
Though I did end up sending 2 or 3 of them in the end... :)
At least I adjusted the language so I was only implying that someone was incompetent at their job. ;)

Q: I accepted the counter offer, which i regret, can I go back and contact the previous company?

JasonFour months ago I was job searching and I received an offer for a really great role with which was a great opportunity, however my current company countered big time (promotion, raise, stock options). I ended up taking the counter offer because the counter was huge and the commute was much easie...

Starting to think we need a meta post that collects examples of "why you shouldn't accept a counter offer" to dissuade people...

10:35 PM
"How do I write a peer review for someone whose GH shows he's done nearly nothing in 3 months?"

1 hour later…
11:45 PM
SAP?
