I edited this question to make it more useful to the general population, and hope that it can be re-opened:

Q: How can I judge an appropriate response be to selective enforcement of rules in the workplace?

Imtiaz AliI had a family emergency and needed to take a personal call from my father for 90 minutes during work against family policy. As a result, I was disciplined by my supervisor for failing to punch out during the call, as well as for taking long breaks, and being late one day. I had never been issued...

^^^ Pretty awesome @jmac. Thanks.

@JimG. No problem. What better than a wikipedia chuckle to begin (or end) the day?

Q: Should you list a desired position title in your resume?

RodBack in the day I was told that you should always list the title of the position you're applying for, in your resume. However, some companies only accept resumes you upload to their websites, and they restrict the number of resumes you can upload to their websites to something like 2, maybe 3 res...

^^^ This question was tweeted? Seriously?
If I was a StackExchange developer, I'd look into the automated tweet algorithm ASAP.

Who tweeted it?
If you click the link, it should provide a username who tweeted it
and I can't imagine it's SE, right...? RIGHT?!"

@StackWorkplace tweeted it, right?
Or did a human tweet it?

12:15 AM
I don't know how it works (and can't access twitter from work)
can you click the link for the tweet, and see who the account is that posted it?
that would definitely clear it up in a jiff.

Ya - It was @StackWorkplace.

Then it was @jmort253 right? or Moderator Jim? (who I can't at-mark because you are in here and take precedence)

Hmm...

Q: Who on Earth tweeted this painfully mediocre question?

Jim G.Should you list a desired position title in your resume? I just noticed that the above question was tweeted by @StackWorkplace; to which I have to say... ...Seriously? This question is probably on-topic but it's painfully mediocre, and it's not exactly the type of content that we want to p...

@jmac: ^^^

@JimG. I agree with the vector if not the magnitude -- you really don't mince words, do you @JimG.?
Woah, hold a sec, this was closed as asking for legal advice?!

@jmac: Heh, heh! Well said. // And No, No I don't. :)
@jmac: Whaaaat?!?

Rant-like? Sure.
Opinion-based? Okay.
Too broad? Maybe.
But Legal Advice? Not a chance!

@jmac: Before you made your heroic edit, I made one of my own.
@jmac: IMO - That question is on topic.
@Rachel: Would you consider a reopen vote for the question above?
I just think it got a bad rap.

Yeah, I can't figure out why it got shot down (I mean, it was a relatively ranty question, and the asker doesn't exactly paint himself in the best light -- but the question itself is a good one that a lot of people do experience every day)
I wonder if we can get a custom script that flags all questions that contain the phrase "what should I do?" and pop up a box saying, "Questions asking for specific advice on what to do are generally off-topic. Please review good questions and off-topic questions in the help center. If this question follows those guidelines, please click submit again.
"What should I do?" questions don't seem to have a very good track record:

Q: Client Service Manager

Dr. JavaI have just graduate college with a degree of BS in Computer Science and a new hire in an IT company. There's an offer for Client Service Manager (CSM) for a prestigious company in our country. I would like to ask what does a CSM do? Would a CSM be a best fit for me even though I may be capable ...

^^^ Thinking that this should probably be deleted.
... what is your question? This is not really a workplace question as written. — enderland Feb 5 at 21:40
^^^ Agreed. That's why I've voted to delete this question.

Voted to delete.

Q: Learning from CEO wreckage: what can I learn from this experience of failure?

user10346HR stated, quite explicitly, that new hires should introduce themselves to the CEO, and emphasized that there was an open door policy. I did so, or tried to, and the half-listening CEO, who didn't seem to be particularly interested in new hires introducing themselves, heard my "real" message desp...

@jmac There are some comments which have been deleted... this is not a real question this is a total rant. The OP said he got a two week bonus and to keep his job because he stood up for himself... But that he tolld them to shove off... it was really stupid
@RhysW In 2040 the copyright will probably be extended another 120 years...
