Q: Downgraded on company-paid flight - who gets compensated?

Nuclear WangWhile traveling for work, I was downgraded from business class to economy class. The airline will have to compensate me for this change, in cash, vouchers, or miles. Am I personally entitled to this refund, or should it go to my employer? On the one hand, my employer paid for the flight and shou...

How on earth is this still open?
With no close votes as well.
I'd have probably unilaterally closed this in its current state if I saw it shortly after posting.

Q: Effective Way for a Supervisor to Address Young Supervisee's Moderate Shortcomings

OotaguMy supervising principles are to respect colleagues as equals, respect their intelligence, while also being conversationally natural. The difficulty is that there are some aspects to their work which could use improvement (as has been noticed by myself and other colleagues) and therefore should ...

This as well, is everyone with close privileges on holiday or something? :)

@Lilienthal two close votes, one for each.

@RichardU Cheers, that got it in the queue and they've collected a few already.
Busy monday as usual I suppose.

Dumb question of the day: "My co-worker is attempting to get out of a project by eating extremely fatty foods with the intent of giving himself a heart attack. Should I stop him?"

No Don't Stop Please

@Pete lol

The bad thing for me is that I'm the closest first-aider.

2:22 PM
@Pete Questions asking for advice on what to do are not practical answerable questions (e.g. "what job should I take?", or "what skills should I learn?"). Questions should get answers explaining why and how to make a decision, not advice on what to do.
:P
@Lilienthal Final close vote cast.

@MaskedMan That rule doesn't apply to obviously humours questions intended only for the amusement of the chat channel

@Pete Of course! I was just playing a humour tennis match with you. ;-)

@MaskedMan Advantage you then....

I've told the said colleague that I'd be happy to punch him in the chest in the event of a heart attack, but I won't be giving him kissy-face unless he shaves first.

Hadouken > CPR, every time

I'm waiting for the "I slept with my coworker's husband, she found out and is making life miserable for me at work. How can I make her get over it?" question

@RichardU "I slept with my coworker's husband, she found out and is making life miserable for me at work. How can I also sleep with her brother?"

Q: How should I deal with an employee who has slept with my wife?

Waiter JohnI'm the owner of a business with about 30-40 employees. Recently, I found out that one of my employees has been having an affair with my wife. The employee has worked for me for 4 years. I felt like I was his mentor, since I recruited straight from university, taught him the ropes, and promoted h...

@enderland <facepalm> I forgot that one

Now come on, you can't change the question just to justify reopening it.
OP asked for "how to deal with my employee?", Joe rightly pointed out, "it is between you and your supervisor", so the question was appended with, "how should I deal with my supervisor?". :o

@MaskedMan why not?

Once again @enderland steals the show.

Q: How can I encourage my colleague to work harder when they leave early and take breaks?

Demian Berisford-MaynardHow am I suppose to ignore this dilemma, if I truly have the company's best interest at heart? I am extremely loyal, objective to a fault. My myers briggs is INTJ, I checked my Enneagram Tritype and it stated "You care deeply and want to help others improve the expectations they have of themselv...

Great answer to a mediocre querstion

I edited this fairly significantly to make it more on topic and less of a rant. — enderland ♦ 10 mins ago

@enderland Ok, how about this? "I am not happy with my salary, my manager says he cannot do anything to change it due to budget constraints. How should I convince him to ignore those budget constraints and raise my salary anyway?" Answer: "What you are asking for is difficult, if not impossible. If your manager cannot raise your salary, you may have to start looking for other jobs." ... so change the question to "How should I look for another job?"
If that is ok, I concede I have a big misunderstanding of how this site works, and I will retract that comment.

I mean, if the question is closed, it's basically on a deletion pipeline

5:21 PM
I am certainly ok with editing the question to resolve the issues that led to closure, but not with changing it to something different just to make it fit better.
In other words, if the question is a XY Problem, let the question remain, "How do I do X?" and the answer explain, "Why you should do Y, not X". Don't change the question to, "How do I do Y?"

Q: Emotional stress caused by my boss should they pay for my leave

TaymaDo i take one of my sick leave or should my boss pay for it since he caused my emotional stress

Questions like these cause ME stress! will the poster pay for MY leave?

If only you could buy leave with points

@SPavel I cannot believe which answers gave me points, but the questions did annoy me, so I suppose I was justly compensated

It's interesting that this stack has, by far, the largest percentage of bad/closed questions of any stack I visit
I suppose it's because everyone has workplace issues, whereas the other stacks are more hobby-like

@SPavel closed questions aren't necessarily bad, especially duplicates

History gets a lot of "do my homework plz" ones though

6:46 PM
@RichardU "One of my employees says I am giving him stress and I should pay for his sick leaves. Is this normal?" Next question in today's sequence of spinoff/silly questions.
My employee is stressing me out. If I fire him, will that count as retaliation?

7:14 PM
@MaskedMan any question that contains "is the normal/common/strange/unusual etc", makes me want to cry

Is it normal to ask for paid leave due to emotional stress cause by your boss

2 hours later…
9:10 PM
paid leave for emotional stress would actually a worker's compensation claim and laws differ by state as to what is allowed and the criteria.
@RichardU that's just a device to try to get to topicality since we have so many close-fascists.

Q: Is a question being hypothetical a problem?

BeofettI recently asked a question based upon the surprising popularity a comment in another question received. My question received a lot of criticism. I tried to improve the question based on that criticism (and I'm still open to suggestions), but some of the criticism was that hypothetical question...

Is there a real question to address, or is now going supermegameta by having a hypothetical question about hypothetical questions?

It's hypothetical questions all the way down
