@enderland What do you mean? I linked it in a comment, but didn't acutally VtC. I'll do that if I don't feel strongly about it being a duplicate, but others may feel differently.

@DavidK oh you just copied that in there perfectly then? I thought you had done the "vote to close" thing :)

I am a fresh postgraduate, have no prior work experience. I have avoided the usual cliche career objective that all my classmates are using in their resumes. Mine is "Dedicated, and motivated, fresh civil engineering postgraduate seeking construction management trainee position in a construction firm". Is this good?
Is it clunky? How may I simplify it?
I have a degree in civil engg. and just recently completed master's in construction management.

Best sources of career advice I've ever found:
[Career Tools](https://www.manager-tools.com/all-podcasts?field_content_domain_tid=5)
[Raghav Haran](http://landanyjobyouwant.com/)
[Penelope Trunk](http://blog.penelopetrunk.com/) - Less careers advice so much as life advice, but very thought provoking.
Career Tools have some awesome podcasts on resumes specifically.

@NVZ Leave it off.

Q: Should I include a career objective on my resume?

CasebashThese usually are overly vague and don't add much. Are there circumstance when these are worthwhile?

They still see use in some fields but to my knowledge engineering certainly isn't one of them.

@NVZ To summarise CT: your CV should be a one-page bullet-pointed list (ordered chronologically and grouped by position) of *What* you've done and *how well* you've done it. Nothing more, nothing less.
All "career objectives, executive summaries, personal goals etc." are cliched, meaningless fluff. Just drop it entirely.

@Zak Keep in mind that the OP is a new grad. He might not have much work experience to list and in that case he needs an Education section which should probably be first.

Q: How to ask questions regarding my current job when coworkers use this site too?

Luis MasuelliI work at a software company. Everyone here uses the Stack Exchange network, all the time. This may include this site as well. Suppose I have a programming related question, and I ask my workmates. After not getting an answer - which very frequently happens - I post it in Stack Overflow. My cowo...

@Lilienthal To summarise CT on New Grads specifically: If you don't have "actual" work experience, then take what experience you have and treat it the same way. Internships, placements, clubs, societies, organisations, personal projects, your degree itself (a full time job for 3 years). *what* you did and *how well* you did it. Even if the *what* is as simple as organising some society event or getting a first in your degree.

> (a full time job for 3 years)
I'm sorry but that's just plain wrong. Rest of the advice seems decent but there's a limit to how far you can stretch non-office experience in a resume.

Q: How will asking to be part of a more ethnically diverse team be perceived?

acspd7I work for a large corporate, well-known technology company in the Valley in California. There is a disproportionately large saturation of particular ethnic groups who have migrated here, either from their homeland or from other regions in the Untied States, and have settled across the entire bay...

Now that I've actually read the entire question (yeah I know, but it was sooooo long), I'm starting to think that I answered quite a different question.

Q: The "using this site" question shouldn't have been migrated

Monica CellioHow to ask questions regarding my current job when coworkers use this site too? was asked on main and migrated to meta, in my opinion incorrectly. If somebody had asked a question about using Reddit or Glassdoor or LinkedIn or some other site to say things he might not want his coworkers to see,...

@RichardU Ha! Great idea!
@Lilienthal Probably because some of the people casting close votes did so while reviewing close vote candidates.

2:39 PM
@JimG. Yeah good point. Forgot about that silly limitation.
