A: Staying in touch after a rejection: an invitation to reapply?

LilienthalWith these kinds of responses, what they mean depends on how impersonal the response is and how far along you got in the hiring process. If they didn't even an interview you and it looks like a generic form letter rejection, it's just a pleasantry and doesn't mean anything. Some companies might ...

I could have swore I've answered something exactly like this before, with some of the same word choices.
But I can't find anything related in my history.
Starting to get paranoid that it was silently deleted somehow.

A: Offer for co-founder cum CTO job?

A.K.Why work for free for 10% when you could work a stable job put $1000 (or more) towards the new venture and have the same share (or more) and more money?

5:03 PM
@Dawny33 Lousy question imo.
The answer is actually fairly reasonable but the entire question doesn't belong on the site.

@Lilienthal Agreed. The question needs a lot more info. there.
Sometimes, the co-founder who contributes the most to the capital split gets to keep the meat of the shares.
But, I definitely don't think that it's a lousy deal. Startup stakes can always be negotiated, and he still has a nice chance/

5:50 PM
@Dawny33 It's objectively a terrible deal. Company's barely worth 10K, has no employees (because it can't pay any), most likely no shippable product for 2+ years (as it has no other funding) and OP would only get 10% with no salary?
Even allowing for the idea that it's the next Facebook it's a crap deal.
Any decent developer will rake in 40-80K yearly and can double the company's funding to get a 20-50% stake if he believes in it.

6:01 PM
I wouldn't completely agree with it being a terrible deal (if he can pull off the negotiation nicely). I got a 35% in the company, when I was the CTO. So, if the can pull if to atleast close to 20-25% without a capital split, I'd see it as a fair deal.

But, it depends on a looot of factors which the OP haven't mentioned, and the decision is a risky one obviously.

Q: How to overcome depression while digging in HUGE code?

Pratik C JoshiFrankly speaking, I have joined a new company 1 month ago. The company has code which spans over 19 long years. Its a big company and code is great without doubt. But when I am told to work on task to do say XYZ, I had to dig deeper and deeper in ABC file which is always more than 7000 lines (Th...

Can we get a final close (/ admin close, @enderland) on this?
It's hit the HNQ already and it's in desperate need of a better word than "depression" to describe the OP's reaction.
It also needs a significant improvement to the rest of the question but I can't figure out alternatives to describe the "depression".
