5:42 AM
@JeffreyLin I bought a mac mini on Dutch ebay, should be arriving tomorrow
What should I do with it

2 hours later…
7:47 AM
@Ieuan dance

8:35 AM
@KevinvanderVelden why would I dance
It's not like a special occasion or anything
Wondering if I should even get up to open the door

you could use it to prop open a door?

@Ieuan you could dance with the mac mini!

@Jochem A €130 doorstop.. Sounds like a perfect description of a mac mini lol
@KevinvanderVelden That still makes no sense
I'm not sure if it has an SSD but if it has an HDD I probably don't want to dance with it

@Ieuan neither does buying a mac mini

At least not while it's on
@KevinvanderVelden I need to compile iPhone apps so it was either get the cheapest osx device I could find or go through the hassle of installing hackintosh
I know my PC can't run it for shit because compatibility so I'd have to try my laptop
And my laptop doesn't even have an usb 2.0 port

8:47 AM
Then I doubt it can run hackintosh either
You need pretty specific hardware for it IIRC

@KevinvanderVelden Yeah, my laptop wasn't able to run any desktop env for Arch when I bought it
It can run most now because that's all a bit better these days but still
It's not exactly the most common hardware combination out there

@Ieuan and that's linux. That has way broader hardware support than mac os

@KevinvanderVelden Yeah so basically I just had to spend €130 to make an iPhone app
And hopefully get some people who want me to make an app for them for more than that

+ licensing costs but that's only 20 per month I think

Otherwise I can always just sell it for €130 unless I dance with it and break the HDD

8:53 AM
Sell it for 140 euros! :D

Apple's Individual license is 99USD a year unless I can get a student discount through my gf's student ID
Android is like what.. 50 bucks once?

Sometimes I feel like people are creating crossovers by picking any two works from a big bag at random. I mean, how else do you explain this?

@KevinvanderVelden Oh man I could just totally buy these things on the internet and then sell them for more, slowly driving up the price and making more and more money :D

@MartinSojka Tbh, the MLP fanbase and TF2 playerbase probably overlap quite a bit

8:55 AM
@Ieuan I know it's a one time fee but I don't know the amount

(Source - warning, DeviantArt link, potentially NSFW content nearby)

@KevinvanderVelden I'm not sure either, just know that I paid once a year or two ago and that I published an app a few days ago
so it still works
@MartinSojka Because a fat guy on a pony is safe for work
That title
'A mounted pony'

Now I'm sure we could recreate this picture in Minecraft with just two or three mods ... :D

Heh probably

That's what you get for browsing DeviantArt's "3d digital art" section for inspiration ...

8:57 AM
We already have the biggest hurdle to mod in vanilla so

Crap, my dad's PC is making a clicking noise pleasedontbeharddrive
Damnit

it'sprobablytheharddrive

It's not his PC
It's mine

Getthebackups

False alarm, it was the GPU fan
CPU is 90 degrees and GPU 67 :/
Why the hell is Windows Explorer using up 23% of my CPU?

9:05 AM
Because it's tasty!

9:49 AM
That's the one I bought
Would that be strong enough to host a Minecraft server?

Sufficient memory at least
1.83 gigahertz might not be fast enough though

According to the Apple website it can only have 2GB RAM lol

Iiinteresting
Heck, the 1.83 ghz version comes with only 1 gig of ram according to them

Well I'll find out when I get it
Worst case I can just scam someone else like I've been scammed

Or, you know, not do that and say "Hey, this device isn't what you promised give me my money back"

10:19 AM
@JeffreyLin That's going to be interesting in multiplayer. As you'll be able to push others from cliffs and stuff.

@Arperum that's how it was originally
I think they changed that... 2 or 3 versions ago?

@KevinvanderVelden Or, you know, get my money back and keep the device

@KevinvanderVelden Yea, What about collisions between animals?
No more 5000 chickens in 1 block space

Not sure how good the buyer protection is but I might just be able to get my money back
@Arperum Damn, @JeffreyLin is kill

It would reduce the animal abuse a lot.

10:23 AM
@Arperum the problem is where would they go though

@KevinvanderVelden In the case of stacked animals right now. try to move them out. Or at least don't allow them to merge again once unmerged.
That way you could also stand on top of a cow and use it to get past a gap.

Out where, remember, the @JeffreyLin contraption had walls around the 1x1x1 meter cube of infinite chickenry

@KevinvanderVelden Yea, it wouldn't fix current situations of abuse, but it would prevent future situations from happening.

Only if you made it so that animals couldn't spawn if there wasn't enough room

Yea.

11:09 AM
@Arperum Don't they do that in singleplayer already?
Oh no wait you can push them in one block
They just explode everywhere if you touch them

11:53 AM
the old collisions were only half collisions. You could still walk through stuff if you just kept walking
afaik, even in the older versions, you could still have the infinite chickens in one block, they just have nowhere else to go and constantly push at each other

12:07 PM
@JeffreyLin when you have time can you get lamp on the shitty server? Want to put a server uptime monitor script on it for other things
@Jochem that's how push physics in most games work except in most games you don't have a way to make a 1x1 space

2 hours later…
user43095
2:09 PM
@Ieuan smash it

Atom smasher? :o

@Ieuan I'm looking forward to how many wasteland slaves we will be able to stack in a minimal room in Fallout 4.

user43095
@Ieuan After I fix my PC, which may be never

user43095

user43095
Following this set of instructions

sudo apt-get install `apt-cache search apache |grep php |grep 5 | sed 's/ .*//'` -y
That should also work
(How I install stuff on ubuntu when I'm not 100% sure what the package name is: Brute force)
Also that'll probably also try to install php4 hmm

user43095
Ugh, apt output looks so complicated compared to pacman.

@JeffreyLin wat?
The install is literally a list of "This is what I'm doing now!" that you can ignore. The search is literally a list of "$NAME $DESCRIPTION"

user43095
I feel like pacman output is cleaner

user43095
2:38 PM
root@ubuntu:~# sudo apt-get install `apt-cache search apache |grep php |grep 5 | sed 's/ .*//'` -y
Reading package lists... Done

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

user43095
NICE GOING KEVIN

Wait you actually did what I said?
That's very smart @JeffreyLin! You should listen to me more often.
3

user43095
I'm guessing the packages I installed before conflict with what you suggested.

Or I literally told it to install anything that referenced apache, php and the number 5
So install libapache2-mod-php5, that sounds like what you want

user43095
The server is hanging.

user43095
2:43 PM
And that's why we call it the shitty server.

2:57 PM
just apt-get install libapache2-mod-php5 and the dependencies should pull apache2 and php5 along with it, then piecemeal install the extensions you need when you need them :P

user43095
3:15 PM
Done

user43095
So GNOME is broken.

3:27 PM
@JeffreyLin every big application is broken, it's just a matter of time until someone finds the crack

@MartinSojka Aren't we all?
@KevinvanderVelden Can't have too many packages installed
@JeffreyLin just do apt-get install gcc g++ make flex bison openssl libssl-dev perl perl-base perl-modules libperl-dev libaio1 libaio-dev zlib1g zlib1g-dev libcap-dev bzip2 automake autoconf libtool cmake pkg-config python libreadline-dev libdb4.8-dev libsasl2-dev patch
Then install everything from source
So much easier

ah yes, because manually checking for updates and hoping it works is so much easier than just letting a group of people who know a lot more about this stuff handle it and just running apt-get upgrade every week

3:44 PM
@Jochem I run apt-get update & upgrade every year
That work too?

user43095
4:35 PM
@Ieuan fix my system

5:15 PM
@JeffreyLin Get me VNC or SSH access and add me on Skype and I'd be happy to take a look

1 hour later…
user43095
6:21 PM
@Ieuan Nah, I have 7 days before school starts.

user43095
9:04 PM
@Ieuan Actually, I might have to take you up on that offer.

10:09 PM
@JeffreyLin Lol is it too hard?

user43095
@Ieuan If you have no idea what you're doing.

user43095
On the other hand, shitty server password is now Ieuan, note the capital I.

10:54 PM
@JeffreyLin email me your skype ign

user43095
@Ieuan I don't use Skype anymore

user43095
Also IGN stands for In Game Name lol

@JeffreyLin Hangouts? Steam? Uplay? Teamviewer?
@JeffreyLin Ikr

user43095
@Ieuan Hangouts is okay

IRC would work if you use that

user43095
10:58 PM
Why can't we just spam chat like we usually do?

Because there will potentially be passwords you might not want indexed by the googles?

user43095
Oh

user43095
Hangouts then. You have my G+

I sent message

11:58 PM
Idk how to link the answer so it loads it lol
But that would potentially solve your retardedness
