01:00 - 17:0017:00 - 00:00

5:00 PM
I still read "CET" as "correct earth time" thanks badp

@Unionhawk it is correct earth time

user43095
When do we change maps though?

user43095
@KevinvanderVelden So I'm correct earth time -6?

@JeffreyLin yes

Well, I have to do some fumbling around to get the FTB server up, a tiny bit different than just forge

5:02 PM
(it's actually central european time, and nobody uses UTC+1 as a central location)

user43095
So we'll just add the extra mods into the packs?

@TimPost well, you could just download the modpack and the configs from the FTB launcher
It is just a launcher for a regular forge modpack

@KevinvanderVelden Yeah, I have those. I just have to play with it a bit.

user43095
At this point, have we finished voting for extra mods? @Kevin

5:05 PM
Utilities3 hasn't been touched in 7 months. Hope he picks it back up

user43095
So basically everything except Quadracopters

Anyone hate telepads?

They're quite buggy and badly coded
Ooh, anyone in favor of something evil like infernal mobs?

@KevinvanderVelden as long as there's no ogres :)

Please no infernal mobs. There's some additional mobs already brought in by others

user43095
5:08 PM
I'm okay with that.

user43095
Did Dire include WAILA?

I just want a teleportation mechanic that isn't linkbooks
@JeffreyLin yep

also, RE: telepads, I won't miss it if it's not there, no objections to having it in

user43095
I never used them, I wouldn't mind if we didn't have it.

@TimPost why no linkbooks? If you've got an objection to the crafting mechanic of the linkpanels, we can just plomp a link modifier in a central location, and you can make following interlinking books without any problems
or cost, other than the plain link panel

5:11 PM
I'm not saying I hate linkbooks, I just like the convenience of being able to plop down a telepad and being able to access any pad from any other is all :)

@TimPost ah ok :)

Set up a quarry 1k meters away, plop down a telepad, be able to check on it easily and just pick up the pad when I'm done with the quarry and such.

user43095
@TimPost EnderIO teleportation thingies.

Those are a bit of a pain, though I do love the staff of traveling. I use those on large farms and such, not really base-to-base transportation

@TimPost infernal mobs just makes the existing ones harder sometimes, diablo esque powerups

5:17 PM
Doesn't it add about a dozen mobs? Cyclops, Sphinx .. etc?

user43095

user43095
That seems pretty dangerous.

user43095
Unlike vanilla mobs, Infernal Mobs will drop mid-high level loot. List of possible loot (not complete yet):

Diamonds and Diamond Tools/Armors/Weapons
Meteorite Tools/Armors/Weapons
Ender Giant Swords
Shields/Gilded
Livingmetal tools/Weapons
Hexical Diamond
Glowing bread
Bane of Pigs (Very unlikely, and only by infernal ones, no other)
Enchanted Book

user43095
5:19 PM
Nice

I'm good with that

Yeah, no. Though a way to get bane of pigs would be cool... no.

There's a lot of key binding conflicts in this modpack as well. Gotta sort that out now just to get morph to work

also, that would be beyond overpowered

user43095
I want a Bane of Pigs.

5:22 PM
Like there's overpowered and then there's maxInt overpowered

Eeh, they're also really hard to kill

True, but maxInt.

Bane Of Pigs made sense when you had crazy dungeons like in the unstable ant dimension. Not sure that they're ... needed ... these days with what's in the pack.

What's bane of pigs?

user43095
What mod created the unstable ant dimension?

user43095
5:24 PM

@KevinvanderVelden It's a frying pan with maxInt damage.

Yes.

Wut O.o
Oke then

Yes.
And yes I mean maxInt as in "hit ender dragon once win game"

5:26 PM
I see

If we're going to have infernal mobs, let's turn 'hostile' on in morph.

user43095
What does that do?

This allows you to inherit being 'hostile' for some mobs, causing most of the others to not attack you unless you attack them, they really think you're a mob

user43095
Definitely.

My only gripe with infernal mobs is frustrating early-game play, and that would cure it - get one normal zombie or skeleton and you can slink around pretty safely while you get early game resources.

5:28 PM
I love how this is an "if we have infernal mobs" situation like this is actually a plan and I'm just like

I believe endermen, witches, and a few others won't be fooled. But you can pretty much survive your first 2 caves easy enough without dealing with super mobs I think. Have to test that.

user43095
Let's actually put this to a vote.

All in favor of getting your asses kicked hard early game in exchange for much better mob drops say ouch.

user43095
ouch

ouch

user43095
5:32 PM
2/4

user43095
We need a settler.

No no, only 2 people have voted
What do you say if you don't want that?

user43095
nay

I'm thinking the nope @uni linked
Also I brought it up so I'm for-ish
I am terrified by the prospect

user43095
So 2.5/4

5:33 PM
Having played infernal mobs in Agrarian Skies, I am strongly against including it.

user43095
Majority wins?

Let's wait till more people have voted, not everyone is on chat 24/7
=p

user43095
But that's Agrarian Skies, you're going to fall out of the sky.

No, the nether is normal but evil

user43095
What about GregTech? All for it say sticks

5:36 PM
I think that breaks in this pack. I have to check.
Can someone also please test extra cells and see if it works as expected? It's had some really weird bugs in the last 3 releases.

user43095
For fluid storage I'd just use drums.

That's what I do. Since dimensional transceivers are in, it's easy enough to pipe them to other dimensions / ages simple enough - no real need for a quantum ring to handle it

Yeah, extra cells is a disappointing mod.
It seems cool until you use it and then you find out that it's actually... not... great

I like the idea of partitioned fluid storage because it conceivably makes transporting large quantities of fluids really simple, especially with the ginormous drives that it adds to the game. But the mod itself has a bit of a temper, I have yet to get it working quite right.
And have lost lots of resources on said ginormous drives.
It'd be cool if it's mostly working now, because AE2 auto crafting and all

Like I said, it seems cool to have liquid autocrafting until you realize there aren't many recipes that use it.

5:45 PM
Well, creosote bottles and such, or anything that needs a lava bucket, but yeah - about .. I don't know ... 6 recipes in the whole pack?
Mostly IC2 and Railcraft
I've missed hats, and killing things that I in no way need to mess with just because I want the hat.
That's a vanilla extreme hills biome. Can anyone tell me what's missing?

user43095
@TimPost A splash of @Kevin?

There are almost no surface ores except amber. Most vanilla ores are actually kind of hard to find. Could just be my worldgen

user43095
Why?

user43095
Which mod messes with ores?

Not sure. You usually see at least one piece of coal on the surface, not in this pack, and I really looked around

user43095
5:59 PM
Weird.

user43095
Grab an xray mod and scan it.

user43095
You know, for science.

Gold is insanely easy to find at around level 15. Lapis everywhere. Iron / Diamonds - good luck :)
Silver, rubys, ferrous ore, sulfur - practically everywhere.

I'm for infernal mobs (especially if we can "cheat" with morph), but against Gregtech

Also redstone. It took me over two hours right next to lava to find two blocks of redstone ore

6:02 PM
@TimPost I noticed a similar pattern in DW20's episode 1, though that was only about 10 minutes of actual mining
I'd guess there's a setup that redistributes ores... best way to test would be to mine out a couple of chunks with a quarry (speed II silk-touch enderquarry if you're cheating anyway ;)) and see what you get
the worldgen in your pack favored copper to a ridiculous degree, for some odd reason

user43095
@Jochem I'll do that in a test world.

probably the ore mod + regular generation or something

user43095
Honestly I think TPPI is the best. It's done in a way where it's easy to find ores, but not OP if you do quarries.

@Jochem Probably because it's anticipating several mods that use it to be installed 'eventually' - it's a bit of a math bug there. In this pack, copper is still relatively easy to come by, you just kind of trip on it at any level below 30
So it was generating copper for about 6 - 7 mods that have copper.

6:18 PM
Only other thing I want is more food options.

user43095
@TimPost MOAR CHICKENS

Pam's Harvestcraft is in dw20 right?

No because then I'd actually buckle down and really get into Java and write a bane of chickens mod.
@Jochem Surprisingly, no. I think it had some weird conflicts

that's too bad :/

user43095
@TimPost Make yourself one of these bad boys.

user43095
6:22 PM
16 hours ago, by Jeffrey Lin
user image

user43095
Somewhat inexpensive and gives you 100 chicken per hour guaranteed. HAYO!

user43095
Not exactly, actually. Growth should be exponential.

@JeffreyLin It needs to be balanced with the theme of the pack. The DW20 pack is a mostly technical pack, where people want to play with machines, reactors, advanced redstone stuff and the like. In packs like that, it makes sense to let people spend less time mining, and more time playing, since they presumably know how to play Minecraft and just want to dabble in building and automating things.
Where a more combat / quest driven pack should definitely have sparser ore generation.

user43095
@TimPost It seems like what you want in that case is a creative world.

@JeffreyLin No, not at all. I like to build in survival. A creative world is "I hate mining and doing work" not to be confused with "Ah, nice, I was able to get enough stuff in 2 hours to build a few machines"
Ore generation isn't that difficult to control.
I'm not at all complaining, so far I really like this pack .. but 2 hours looking for redstone across 10 chunks is crazy.

user43095
6:30 PM
It is. How are you mining?

Q: Does it have veinminer?

@JeffreyLin strip. 2x2, starting at around y = 8 and going up from there. I find plenty of mod ores, but the vanilla stuff is really scarce.
@KevinvanderVelden nope

user43095
Weird. 10 chunks?

@TimPost Aaaah =[
Can we add that instead of treecapacitator or whatever it's called?

@JeffreyLin Yeah, I was really surprised, usually you can't help but trip over the stuff looking for diamonds, which are equally difficult to find. I'm going to try a new seed tomorrow to see if I just got really unlucky.
@KevinvanderVelden Do they need to be mutually exclusive?

6:33 PM
@TimPost well, they're a bit redundant together but

user43095
veinminer works with trees?

Sure, why not

TCon has lumber axes...
for trees

user43095
Ooh TCon.

Yeah, but then you need to carry one of those around

user43095
6:36 PM
What does ThaumCraft have for tools?

Put it in a bag
Problem solved

I mostly like veinminer for well, veins of ores

@Unionhawk I didn't even have to click the link to know what that was about =p

Well, I need to do some general housekeeping on the server anyway, so the first ~2 days will be a trial of seeing what works with extra mods in the pack while I take care of a laundry list of love I need to give to the OS

6:43 PM
Did you see yesterdays stream? So much deaths :D

The link is mainly there to give context to... everything
For those of you who don't know

"And, ... we no longer have an AE system." - That's nice, I like it.
That was minimal pain, imagine a fully stacked run of Ender IO conduits :)
You've got a bunch of redstone channels, a bunch of in / out item channels, power channels and some fluid stuff going on and then all of a sudden uh oh
Of course, leave it to Soaryn to use a frigging pickaxe

7:01 PM
Well, he thought that was already disconnected
And wanted to remove the whole thing

If I ever make anything even remotely resembling the user experience of twitch, all of you have my permission to kick me in the nuts.

user43095

Fancy chart

user43095
I know, I think the FTB team put it together.

Finding iron - great. Mining diamonds - awesome. Killing a creeper by slapping its exothermic ass upside the face with a frying pan - priceless.
(Just tested the bane of pigs, want!)

user43095
I don't like how the FTB launcher now has a tray icon

@TimPost well good luck, it's a rare drop from infernal creeps, which have 11 times base hp* and 11 powerups =p

7:24 PM
@JeffreyLin I rather appreciate that, thought my desktop might be a but busier than your desktop. When I sneak in some lunch time play, I usually have 5 chrome windows with at least 80 tabs each, three editors, a dozen other things I can't close until I've done something and then there's the usual stuff.

user43095
Kill Minecraft could come in handy if it's stuck I guess.

What is that black stuff?

user43095
Oil?

user43095
Or some MFR sludge thing.

No, it gives you really bad buffs

user43095
7:27 PM
Jump in it for a second.

user43095
Oh then it's MFR liquid.

user43095
Where's your WAILA?

Weakness, wither and nausea
WAILA says it's dirt

user43095
Do you have a bucket?

@TimPost Your waila is probably configured to ignore liquids, that's the default setting. there is some menu/button to make it stop ignoring liquids.

7:29 PM
It's sludge.

user43095
That's what I thought.

user43095
I think you could make dirt or Myclilium or something with it in a sludge boiler.

Ah yes, this is what I'm filling your base with when I notice zombie pigmen running around because you forgot to protect your nether portal.
@Arperum I kinda want it to do that, because most of the time I'm trying to figure out what's being obfuscated by water.

@TimPost I'm pretty sure there is a hotkey to swap betwee nthe two modes, but it's been a while.

The hotkeys in this pack are a mess, quite a few conflicts by default, I'm sorting that out now.

7:34 PM
hoitkeys are always a mess in modded minecraft. and having an azerty keyboard doesn't help at all.
@TimPost ouch!

user43095
@TimPost Why didn't the modpack authors fix it?

the waila keys are on the numpad

@TimPost There is also the thing where pigmen with the ghastly affix don't care if they are neutral/hating you. They launch fireballs either case.

user43095
I don't have a numpad. Darn it laptop.

@JeffreyLin It's still early, and most folks don't mind sorting it out on their end in a public beta.

user43095
7:44 PM
Oh, DW20 is still public beta?

Yeah, it just debuted yesterday-ish
oh yeah, need to test some of the thaumcraft bugs with BC. I'll do that tomorrow, they're kind of hard to discover

user43095
I can delete Hats and Ichunutil right?

@JeffreyLin no, hats are required
Not having hats kills you on spawn

user43095
So I'm deleting hats. Is iChunUtil required for Morph?

yep
iChunUtil is required for all IChun mods
And deleting hats is a pretty bad idea

user43095
7:48 PM
Why?

Because it's hats!
Also other mods depend on it
like hatstands

user43095
So I can delete that too?

8:01 PM
Well sure
If you don't want to play on the server

user43095
8:23 PM
I remember deleting it back in Monster with no side effects.

user43095
Okay fine what about flatsigns?

@JeffreyLin you'll have to simply test it out once the server's up

Either you can't join or you get weird desyncs from the server
Deleting a mod in SSP is trivial, deleting it in SMP is not

user43095
I think flatsigns shouldn't have any side effects, and hats are probably just visual. If in the case that things mess up, I'll just force update.

8:39 PM
@JeffreyLin You know you can disable/enable mods through the launcher? the edit modpack thing.

user43095
@Arperum Yeah, forgot about that.

@JeffreyLin And evern if there wasn't, just adding .disabled to the unwanted mods should work too, thats actually what that disable/enable modpack does

1 hour later…
10:00 PM
@JeffreyLin the hatstand mod will be required to play on the server, as it adds a new item that can be placed in the world.

user43095
@Arperum but not hats themselves, as they are visual artefacts?

Also: why are you trying to murder mods?

user43095
I what

@JeffreyLin Don't know.

user43095
Oh because less mods = less memory = happier me(?)

10:01 PM
murder as in remove from the pack.

user43095
Well I could disable them.

But since the hatstands require the hats mod, you'll need to keep that one too.

user43095
adfsghjkl

disabling is basically removing them. exactly the same result.

user43095
At first I thought you said murder mobs.

10:16 PM
insert curses some hidden thing uses the "c" key and it bindings are not in the regular keybinding menu.
I want my inventory on "c" dammit.

10:46 PM
I am going to find the culprit that changes my keybind. starts disabling mods
culprit start with "m" or later letter in the afphabet. for science.

11:12 PM
STUPID CRASHES.

11:24 PM
It's a mod starting with a "t" stupid crashes make this take way longer then it should.
translocators is the culprit. Damn you chicken bones!
bah, stupid hardcoded keybinds. if your keybind refuses to give the key back to whatever else would use the key, you are a terrible person.
I refuse to play until this terrible problem gets fixed.
and no, changing it in the settings doesn't work.

user43095
11:43 PM
I usually just rebind the other thing that uses c.

no wait, I just can't find the damn keybind in the settings.
@JeffreyLin I personally want my inventory on "c", I've been playing minecraft like that for a long time now.

user43095
Try x or v?

refused. "c" is my inventory key in all my games, it's a habit of using that one.

user43095
Get rid of Translocators? But then you can't play on the server.

@JeffreyLin I just want to change the goddamn keybind.

user43095
11:47 PM
@Arperum Decompile Translocators and fix it yourself.

@JeffreyLin And that is not going to result in incompatibilities at all

user43095
Why would we need Translocators if we have like three to four other mods that do the same exact thing?

@JeffreyLin the crafting grid, the thing that is causing me all the grief.
also: fancy looking stuff?

user43095
Factorization has one, if I'm not mistaken.

user43095
I thought ChickenBones was a pretty good mod author though.

11:57 PM
So did I, but something goes wrong.
