@Jochem x2 per block mined yes, so you still need a huge amount of energy
@JeffreyLin yes, there's a bug in this version after a while, probably memory leak or something

@KevinvanderVelden eh, just more of a challenge :D

@Jochem oh yes, I know the direwolf20 pack has funky locomotion, I'm already seeing the enderquarry miner from hell
Just a giant static power bank somewhere charging while the thing is moving :D

Technically speaking everything causes lag. Some things just cause more lag.
sage nod

@Unionhawk yeah, but nothing should take more time to process the longer it's been standing

Yeah, bugs.
If ExtraUtilities is causing lag, you know there's a problem

7:34 AM
Hehe true

Like, Gregtech causing lag is a feature. ExtraUtilities causing any amount of lag is a bug.

@KevinvanderVelden hm, that'd be a real challenge to set up, they don't work without a defined boundary

@Jochem yeah, just move the boundary with it :D

Oh god what why

Oct 15 at 10:55, by Arperum
@Vandammetje I think the concept overkill does not apply to any server that contains @KevinvanderVelden.

7:38 AM
they also require you to rightclick the quarry to initialize the boundary, though maybe an autonomous activator will work for that

I guess the main question comes down to "how"
I don't expect it to work gracefully
At all

@Jochem yeah, I'm hoping that'll work
I'll test in singleplayer before building it :D

Or you could set up a stupidly large quarry area but that'd be too easy right I forgot

@Unionhawk complicated > graceful :D

@Jochem I tend to disagree. Complicated with grace is optimal.

7:41 AM
besides, a frame quarry means infinite resources, a giant quarry just means a lot of resources

@Unionhawk it wouldn't continue eating the world! :(

@Unionhawk depends on the situation really... at some point all the graceful solutions have been done and you get bored
also, @KevinvanderVelden, I hope that compact rooms mod works with the frames :o

I mean, of all the ways you could implement a frame quarry you decide to pick the one way that has basically no real limits on its own

I think a mining well frame machine would work really neatly with AE formation/annihilation planes
You could move forward and it'd automatically destroy and replace the mining wells for you :o

Speaking of such things... does anyone here remember the frame-tube quarry I built back... crap I think this was 1.4

7:43 AM
That way you'd only need to worry about locomotion

Yeah, had to be
That was a fun, server-crashing project

I build a frame machine that dug a few chunks wide at the same time on one of the servers we played on

I think I had it set up with a 9x9 expandable mining head

Because, you know, frame tubes

7:45 AM
DAMNIT DIREWOLF20 JUST RELEASE YOUR PACK ALREADY I WANT TO BUILD THINGS THAT DESTROY WORLDS

Probs waiting on just one mod

I wonder if mining wells work with enderio item conduits

Speaking of waiting on mods... apparently Eloraam is building RedPower as a standalone game?
Okay then

they should, I'm pretty sure they transport plain MJ as well

@Jochem yeah, but I'm wondering if the mining wells will put items in them

7:48 AM
@Unionhawk yeah, like... from scratch, with her own engine and everything

Definitely the kind of person who wants to make sure it's done right

@KevinvanderVelden hm, I see your problem, you only have two faces on the block you can use on a frame machine, and one is covered by the formation plane...

@Jochem I've got an alternate way that moves the frame down to destroy the well, then forward, then up and then places it. That would fit cable wise, but it's more difficult otherwise
The benefit of the formation/annihilaton thing is that it is literrally just move the frames and done

but can you place the power and item cables in the same block automatically?

@Jochem well if enderio works with the wells for items and power than those can just be moved with the frame
So that's just manual set up, no big problem
If I need to do the moving thing I can just set it up with all the annihilation planes storing it into a interface (via storage bus) and then when I want to place the wells again just connect the interface to the network that has the formation planes via redstone

Oh god no I'm not going to try to interpret a text diagram of @Kevin's crazy plan. I hate those things as they are.

X is frame, V is formation plane (and direction), * is annihilation. In the first one (if item conduits work with wells) P is both the power and the item transfer, in the second one P is power and I is an interface

I kind of want to find all instances of X=BLOCK x=AIR and replace it with a detailed screenshot instead

Heh, there's probably some tool for that but I can't find it

Yeah it's called Minecraft
It has this built-in function called "screenshot", it's really great

7:58 AM
it's called MSpaint and copy-paste

Screenshots are worth so much more than any kind of diagram afaic

only if all the logic is visible

especially with redstone. Redstone circuit diagrams can die
@ratchetfreak Multiple screenshots may be required.
But especially redstone, diagrams are the worst. It's how I initially started learning redstone, and I didn't learn anything from the exercise in recreating every possible logic gate in redstone circuit diagrams
Because at the end of the day, the stuff that's on the wiki in their "how to redstone" tutorial is like "great, but what can I do with it?"

so are most programming tutorials

4 hours later…
11:58 AM
... I should not have launched Civ:BE during my lunch break

No, that sounds like a terrible idea

@Jochem oooh. I think I might launch that once I've done the planned stuff for today. RDP FTW!

12:41 PM
It was a terrible idea... two hours passed and I didn't eat food

@Jochem not exactly perfect.

it's a lot of fun so far though, there's some neat concepts that make it a bit different from regular Civ

@Jochem Gah, so tempting. But I need to finish this thing first or I'll never get it done.

I'll stop talking now :D

5 hours later…
5:25 PM
Fancy
Ohh... I see how that works
That's super simple
That's pretty cool
