@terdon @terdon I think you have already figure out my problem. You made me do that. prename doesn't show the replacements or renames that end-up being the original name of the file itself (when using the option -n). That's why I was thinking that there was something wrong when there was not! Well don't know ... I am thinking on closing the question....

Ah! So you mean it wasn't showing every file, only those whose name would change?
Now I understand why you were showing that long list every time!
