@mikeserv - if you have a problem with a decision of the mods, you are welcome to use the Contact Us page on the site and contact SE employees directly and they will check in to it, but it doesn't seem like there's anything wrong with what they've done here as far as I can tell (I'm just a mod from a few other sites though). Please don't create sock puppets to get around the suspension as they will be destroyed and may result in lengthening your suspension on your main account.
if you are suspended and feel like the mods aren't addressing your concerns, the aforementioned "contact us" page is the way to go
Guys, do you know of a standard keyboard shortcut to focus on the file list when in a file amnager? (or one particularly for Dolphin). I am constantly tabbing and testing until I get the focus there, which is annoying, and googling isn't helping
I just discovered that Gilles does not approve of the new emacs site. To my surprise.
I'd have thought he would be in favor of emacs having somewhere to call home. Maybe there is some concern about balkanization. However, given that some are the current sites and so big, and increasingly dysfunctional, maybe smaller sites would be better. The smaller, more targeted sites actually seem to do better.
I have the following function, adapted slightly from here:
;; Insert text around a region. In this case, it's
;; the LaTeX code environment from the listings package

"Insert a \begin{code} and \end{code} around a region."
(interactive "r")
(save-excursion

I'm still not sure what you're asking, but it sounds like you're trying to implement a bot inside irssi, which would be harder than just making a separate program that connects on its own
irssi supports plugins, so you could do it that way, but there's not much reason to
So you want something that sends !check to the channel, receives the response, and then passes that result to a bash script or something? I don't know how to do that within irssi, you could post a question
You can try having the channel's output logged (/help log), and have a script that watches that logfile. It'd probably be easier to just write an irssi plugin though, if you know Perl. irssi.org/documentation/perl
The really easy solution is to just write an IRC bot that has nothing to do with irssi, if you're not tied to that. There are libraries for basically every language that make it trivial
@FaheemMitha it does have one advantage: it will hopefully end the scope war on SO, we can finally say that if you aren't programming Emacs or using Emacs for programming then your Emacs question is off-topic
@Torger597 nothing was removed that affects the contents of the question. All that Michael removed was irrelevant background information that is not needed to understand the problem at hand. — terdon ♦10 secs ago
I have a problem with my wifi internet connection that is secured by WPA. I have moved to a new location. I had set up a working internect connection but lost the connection after about an hour and this has happened more than once. I cannot simply reboot and run the same commands again as it does...
