I'm going to burst if I don't let this out; "awwww... who's a good puppy? You! Dats who! Yes you are! You got a +1 from daddy! Yes you did! You want a treat?" ... ok. All out of my system, now! ;) —

@Braiam What the hell? And yes, I looked at the post. Still don't understand what this is about.
Braiam
@FaheemMitha the user name is "Puppy" ;)
Faheem Mitha
@Braiam Yes, I got that. So?
Braiam
@FaheemMitha " who's a good puppy?"
also, he's author of code puppy
Faheem Mitha
@Braiam Who is?
@Braiam Well, it just seems vaguely offensive. Granted, nobody is forcing the poster to call himself (or herself) Puppy.

@Gilles see my comment about your locales question. Would it be reasonable to put it in /etc/profile for example?
Gilles
@FaheemMitha I got the notification from your comment, no need to ping me in chat about it as well
Faheem Mitha
@Gilles Well, I had a more specific question, so...
Faheem Mitha
8:06 PM
@Gilles, my current
/etc/default/locales
has
# File generated by update-locale
LANG=en_US.UTF-8
LANGUAGE="en_US:en"
Can I also set local overrides there, like
LC_PAPER=en_BR.UTF-8
, and will this be picked up by a new interactive shell?
Gilles
@FaheemMitha not by a new interactive shell, when you log in
Faheem Mitha
@Gilles Oh, ok, thanks. But sticking overrides like that in
/etc/default/locales
is reasonable?
Gilles
@FaheemMitha if you want the setting system-wide, that's what it's for
Faheem Mitha
@Gilles Ok, thanks. I wasn't sure if that was correct/allowable procedure.
In my case, I'm the only user, but might as well make it systemwide.
