@Aarthi everything alright at SE NYC?

@C.Ross Most of us are battened down in our homes! I haven't heard of anyone being forced to evac, and sounds like everyone's ok! :)

@Aarthi good! did you loose power at all?

i never did, though everyone south of ~40th did for a long time
a powerplant blew

@Aarthi yikes

Has the storm passed yet?

6:10 PM
@Wipqozn yeah the worst is over.

@Aarthi YIKES!

@AarthiD How did you make out after Sandy? Hope all is well. We are fine.
Whew, glad to hear Zuly's ok.
@C.Ross Yeah, for real. You can see how much power was lost -- everyting on the left side is pitch black after the flash

@Aarthi yeah, was a coal or gas plant?

gas, iirc. not 100% sure

There was also an "alert" at a nuclear power plant, but it was really nothing to worry about

6:17 PM
@freiheit good to hear
I work reasonably close to one of those things so I always get a little concerned

bloomberg says the nuclear ones are ok and don't need us to freak out

@C.Ross You should worry more about the coal plants

@freiheit I would if I lived close to one!

2 hours later…
7:59 PM
@freiheit coal disasters are scary. specially if a fly ash retention pool breaches

8:21 PM
Lucas just does not look comfortable in that shot
At this rate of every 2-3 years, the Star Wars movies will be Disney's Bond franchise

Skywalker. Luke Skywalker.

@mmyers blue milk, shaken, not stirred

Does this mean the Ewoks get their own series? They sound perfectly Disney

yub yub

They didn't say it was the main Star Wars cast doing the fast release cycle. Plenty of fodder for lower tier characters if Wookipedia has mileage to burn
Tag and Bink are the main characters in a series of comic books spoofing Star Wars. Tag is from the planet Corellia and Bink is from Alderaan. The two first meet when they are found to have Force potential. The comics illustrate how these two Jedi in training haphazardly cause all the pivotal events in the Star Wars universe. Like other Star Wars comics, Tag and Bink is published by Dark Horse Comics. The whole Tag and Bink series is collected in Tag & Bink Were Here. Tag and Bink are the Rosencrantz and Guildenstern of the Star Wars universe, a pair of minor characters who deliberately ...

8:28 PM
I kind of hope they do the Thrawn trilogy

@random I think the Star Wars series has already hit rock bottom, so I don't think there's anything you need to worry about.

They can churn out the political thrillers based on the Senate stuff that was the crux of Episode I

Mr. Smith goes to Coruscant

Q: Should Jeff take a lead on Markdown 2.0?

David SchmittObviously the Markdown specification and reference implementation is pretty well orphaned "upstream". Obviously Jeff knows his stuff on parenting and is one of the major players in the Markdown space; surely one of the most visible ones. Therefore my question: Should Jeff take a lead to solicit ...

That's quite the simmer time
Huh. I felt a disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices whined in annoyance while still secretly searching for Episode 7 spoilers.

8:48 PM
@random TIL the last message feature in chat will extract Twitter text.

Will they re-release Episode 1 with Jar Jar subbed out for Goofy? It might be an improvement

@mmyers It certainly couldn't make the movie any worse.

9:05 PM
So about 3/4 of Dark Horse comics are done then if the Mouse takes back the license there as well to the House

9:30 PM
Guys, #Community officially has an airdate: Thursday, February 7th at 8pm!
That's the more important news for today

Q: What would episode 7+ be about?

hydroparadiseSo Lucas Films sold out, err, got sold to a much bigger production company and has decided to continue the series. (please, lets keep opinions about how well, or otherwise, the anticipated company will do in picking up the series where it left off). As an avid movie goer, not an avid book rea...
