@Shog9 @JonEricson My request to have the company tags blacklisted on Super User was declined without any consensus whatsoever; could one of you (or another SE community manager) look into it? meta.superuser.com/questions/8439/blacklist-the-company-tags

@damryfbfnetsi fair warning: I hate all of the "company tags" discussions
Not because I like tagging things by company

@Shog9 Don't you hate discussion in general?

but because they're engineered to be sisyphean
@ManishEarth quiet, you

@Shog9 If it was declined with consensus, then I wouldn't have complained

"Good job, folks! We got Microsoft, Apple, Google & Adobe cleaned up! Status-Compl...oh, crap, Oracle"
@damryfbfnetsi anyway, if you want to have a better time on meta, propose something specific. Like, "Let's blacklist [google] - here's why!"

@Shog9 It's the without consensus part that irks me

@damryfbfnetsi there's nothing to establish consensus on
You didn't propose anything specific
You didn't even mention any specific tags - you just linked to a different question
Follow the example you cited - [installation] on AU
Specific tag, specific guidance for alternatives to use in its place
That's much easier for folks to discuss, debate, and come to a consensus on
And also much easier to implement
I'm not gonna touch a request to blacklist an ill-defined list of tags

@Shog9 Okay, I will when I get time. But if those requests are declined by site moderators without consensus, please come to my defense

@damryfbfnetsi just be specific. Be detailed. Be objective. And most of all, specific.
You'll be fine, trust me

@Shog9 Okay. It's just that the mod didn't supply any reason for declining, other than "blacklists are not the way to solve the problem" (but why is that so?)

@damryfbfnetsi blacklists are not a panacea. You don't automatically get better tags by disallowing bad ones. You have to consider why folks are using bad tags.
