@FaheemMitha hey, how are things?

12:57 AM
@slm I'm doing Ok. How are you? Not seen you around much.

@FaheemMitha Been busy with a new job and moving to NC

@slm Oh, right. You've already moved, right? I think you were either going there, or had gone there, when we last spoke.
Anyone here using a ssh server on Android? I was wondering if login via ssh has access to things like photos taken. If not, it probably would not be very useful.

@FaheemMitha yeah I've used ssh to get into my android. You can see the file as you've described. I usually use sirdroid or WiFi file transfer instead though
@FaheemMitha I'm in the process of moving, looking for a house and selling mine

@slm Oh, so you've not moved to NC yet?
Do you mind if I ask who you are working for? Not Red Hat, I suppose?
@slm Ok. Is there any reason to prefer one of the Android ssh server packages over another? On Linux it's simple, there is only one choice. :-)

@FaheemMitha now not moved yet. Sure I work for Teradata. I've not seen any real diffs b/w them
@FaheemMitha I use only the free $$ ones

11:36 AM
@slm if you mean the ssh servers, that still leaves a bunch of choices.

11:48 AM
@slm btw, you must be an early riser. It's like 7 am on the East Coast.

I voted for 3.(big numbers) :(

2:57 PM
@casey voted where?

Torvalds put up a poll on g+ a while back

@casey I'm sure he doesn't pay any attention to that.
He probably just did it to amuse himself and watch people running to vote.

@FaheemMitha the 4.0 name "NAME = Hurr durr I'ma sheep" came from the poll he put alongside the version numbering poll
where he acknowledges the will of the people on his G+ poll for version numbering

3:38 PM
@casey that's really sounds unlike Torvalds. Maybe he's planning to run for president.

Q: KDE opens .deb files with ar instead of a package manager

Villa CalebI just installed Debian for the first time. I use KDE. I'm trying to install Google Chrome and Steam. I download the installation package, then I double-click it. Instead of installing, both display the error Failed to execute child process "ar" no file or directory

^^^^ Can someone who's familiar with KDE please answer this? There's an accepted answer now which is grossly misleading

A: KDE opens .deb files with ar instead of a package manager

derobertYou can change which program opens a file when you single/double-click it in KDE by: Temporarily, for this open only: Right click, Open With, select program Permanently: Right click, Properties. On the General tab, File Type Options. Change the order of apps under "Application Preference Order"...

@derobert thank you
