> European Union leaders have warned that the UK must honour the principle of free movement of people if it wants to retain access to the single market after it leaves the bloc.
Pains me to say this Leave campaign, but I told you so
Thinking about big companies, all they can do is make plans in the coming months, I highly doubt they'd do anything now already but once Article 50 is called then they'll be out asap
Leave campaigners either genuinely thought the UK would be okay, economy-wise, without the EU and/or thought that we would genuinely be able to remain part of the EU without the freedom of movement clause so we could avoid immigration and reclaim our borders.
If they can legally block the referendum then politicians won't have done anything illegal or immoral, except for calling a referendum where they fail to explain the fact that Scotland could stop it from happening
Our "Tweede Kamer" (House of Commons in England terms?) issued a head-counted vote on whether the netherlands should organize a referendum to exit yesterday: 12 voted in favor, 138 against
Don't mind my absolutely crappy English when talking about politics :P
@DanPantry Actually, I think leave campaigners were either a) Expecting to lose the referendum but gain the support of conservative anti-EU MPs for future political positioning in the process or b) Nigel Farage (and similar) who wilfully lied and misrepresented certain issues because of a belief that "foreigners = bad, EU = bad, therefore Brexit (by whatever means necessary) = Good"
@Zak or use it as a protest vote, which apparently so many poeple have done
"I didn't expect us to actually leave the EU! My vote means nothing!" is just as bad as "I'm not going to vote to remain, because my vote means nothing and we will win anyway"
"I touched the flames but I didn't actually expect to get burned!"
