I don't now what living costs are like in Cardiff, but it's probably not unreasonable to assume London will cost twice as much.

Varies heavily on where you live in London though

I don't know much baout living costs but to me £35k doesn't sound like much in London - I'm on £26k now, and that's the lower bound for mid level devs in Cardiff.

so necessary expenses approximately cost £7.3k/y

well, just go rent-searching on the internet and you'll get a very quick introduction into London prices
