I work on a site that has survived a transition from mainframes to Windows servers I think. so I have to deal with Data Conversion issues and interactions with the site. and I am working on maintaining the site so that it continues to function when the technologies it's hosted on change.

well they told me 6months to a year, but it's the state we are talking about, and it's a big application that will affect a lot, including income to our part of the government

It's mostly for Java development, but I use the Scala plugin - it's a great IDE for Scala.

@CodeX Comet is a technique where the browser/client hangs a read waiting for an update from the server. When the server has an update, it pushes it to the client via the hanging read. It's a way to implement push using pull. The form of the data isn't important.
