hello

i m just created the app of wifi chat
any one has the created as above?
becoze dont understand the concept of that

what do you mean by "wifi chat"? do you mean it's a chat system for talking only to people on the same wifi network as you?

I don't know of an existing app that does that, but I'd expect that one exists

11:30 AM
as the two device sending and receiving msg to each other with the help of wifi peer to peer concept

12:01 PM
so what don't you understand?

how it is work in that?

12:30 PM
how did you create it if you don't understand how it works?

12:42 PM
i just need the simple example to be need to undersatnd and work properly

I think you're in the wrong place. This is a chat room for Android users, not for programming questions.

Anyone here with some experiences concerning not-too-pricey smart watches? Main feature I'm after is voice control another Android device (tablet) – or alternatively doing that via Tasker & AutoVoice on the watch itself ;)
Looks like the Omate (or, in Germany, its Pearl variant Simvalley AW-414) could be a good match. But 200€ for just trying... First-hand experience would be prefered :)

I've used one of the original Pebbles (they just today announced the second model of Pebble today) as my everyday watch for about the last 6 months, love it, but it doesn't have a microphone so no voice control. PebbleTasker can control an Amdroid device with the buttons

@GAThrawn I love my Pebble to
@Izzy Voice controlling an Android device over a smartwatch? Nice idea, but I know no smartwatch with mic
sounds like knight rider

The Sony and Samsung ones have mics and can do voice stuff (I've seen the Galaxy watch used with S-Voice and the Sony with Siri on an iPhone)

@GAThrawn Yeah, the missing mike sorted out the Pebble from my list pretty soon, promising as it looks apart from that.

@Izzy the more than a week battery life is the upside to not having some of the flashier features :)

@Flow Shall I name some? The one mentioned above, including its small sister AW-315; the Neptune Pine (Android 4.1.2 with Playstore and GPS), the Kreyos Meteor, the Martian...
@GAThrawn The Gear is outsorted, as only being compatible with Samsung devices. Unfortunately, as it features a nice form factor (I'm curious for the upcoming Archos smartwatches, which look a bit alike and shall ship from 50€/$80 upward)...
@GAThrawn The Kreyos and Martian are also reported with 7d "uptime" (reported by users, not by the manufacturer labs).
The Omate (and probably the Simvalley as well, as they are very close) shall hold ~3d with normal use (whatever that is). Switching off their GSM and WiFi, even longer.
@Flow Heh, that was one association in a review as well: people laughing at you, saying "KITT, pick me up" #D
Hm, maybe I ask Pearl for a test device. They are selling one of my books via their catalog, so maybe they are willing to have one of their products "featured" – if it works out to my expectations, that is :D

I'd be interested to know what kind of app market there is for these things

Good thing about that device: It ships with Android (4.2.2), and can be rooted. Amoled display is also fine (240x240 not so much, but hey, it's a watch).
@DanHulme Currently it's probably more play than use. I'm playing with a little home automation, so I need a voice trigger. I don't want Google to permanently listening to everything spoken in my flat, so "always on" (or "AutoVoice continuous") is no option. A BT headset would do for that, but I don't want to have that permanently in my ear :)
A watch on my wrist is a different thing. Just pressing a button to activate voice input, then using voice control, and toggle it off again would be fine with me – principially the same what AutoVoice can do with a BT headset. So my hope was a watch which can be used as "BT headset".

Personally, I don't believe in smartwatches running Android. The Pebble has the perfect tradeoff between usability and robustness for me. And I never missed the an mic, it's just a nice to have feature

there's not really a killer app for smartwatches yet

BTW Nicolas just added AnkiDroid to the community promotion ads

the grey text on white is not great

6:34 PM
@DanHulme Good point, you should comment that

1 hour later…
8:03 PM
@Flow For me it's the one thing I need: a watch with a mike :)
