@NoviceInDisguise If there are not enough candidates for meaningful election, SE will probably extend the nomination period. Quoting a community manager:

> in order for the election to proceed, it is necessary to have at least one more candidate running than there are slots. This allows for there to be actual voting phases, so that the community can actually show that they support the candidates who are running.

So, withdrawing from election just because there are three other candidates already isn't really helping... // cc: @David

that's a strange position by SE
not all of us who could stand a chance at winning, want the gig, or think we would not be able to fulfill commitments
right now it is almost like we have already unanimously decided on a solid set of moderators
