Would it be reasonable to create stanley-cup and make it a synonym of nhl? (Just to make sure that if someone wants to create the new tag, they will use the correct tag instead.)

NO!!! @MartinSleziak the Stanley-Cup is Not a synonym for the NHL-regular season. Each series in the play-offs is, by definition and overwhelming consensus: A whole new season.

@MartinSleziak in a more serious manner...no, as they are not one in the same. what if the question is exclusive to the stanley-cup akin to the world-cup and other such events? yeah, the nhl will be appended to the question most likely, but without the tag in existence or the practical usefulness nonetheless, what's the discussion?

@edmastermind29 So for example Number of Stanley Cup final sweeps should have been tagged stanley-cup instead (or in addition to) nhl? I thought that one tag is sufficient for both - regular season and PO.

There are a few other questions where stanley-cup seems suitable (at least to me): How many times major league teams have won championship by winning 4 game 7s?, Why are the Stanley Cup Finals on NBC Sports and not NBC? or Do traded players get their names on the Stanley Cup if previous team wins?.

Should I edit them, or should I leave it to someone who already has privilege to edit questions?

#1 is no...that's a general trivia question not specific to the stanley cup. #2 looks good. #3 looks good.
