@RydwolfPrograms A lot of these things are fixed now at least. We got git switch instead of checkout. You can configure git to use ff-only.

I have 2.44. I built it from source because I need the auto remote

As far as I remember, it came pre-installed on my Linux Mint (and I installed it on December 2, 2022)

For some reason git versions take a very long time to get added to the package repositories
